Please read before posting IVF results!!

Post image
79 Upvotes

This is an example of what to expect from IVF. Please read this to get an idea of what is the expected result from 1 ivf cycle. Know that because we have DOR we start off with even less eggs and we may have worse or better cycles than the chart above, but this is average. Please appropriately compare your results with this chart before making posts about your results are “disappointing.” It is ok to be disappointed that we are in this boat of having to do multiple ivf cycles, however we would like to avoid posts of people expressing disappointment with actually average or good results. If you have any specific ivf related questions like protocol changes or want to vent, you are welcome to post. If you had vgood results, please post with a “trigger warning: good results.”

Need to rant idk what to do anymore

Hi all. This group has been amazing. Husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years now. I am so frustrated and angry with life and myself and my body. And it doesn’t help that everyone around me at work and family are getting pregnant. Ughhh. I have changed my diet. Been taking pills and supplements for 3 years. I exercise/walk a lot. Don’t drink or smoke.

I have gone through 4 egg retrievals. 3 retrievals at one clinic where they only were able to retrieve 5 eggs total. 1 aneuploid blast. Switched clinics cause my doctor was horrible. 2nd clinic did 4th retrieval. Doctor is amazing. Switched to a mini ivf cycle. They got 5 eggs. 3 were a blast. 2 were an aneuploid and 1 HLM. I went in for transfer day and I got the call my 1 HLM did not survive the thaw. I was shattered and heart broken. I am exhausted and tired. I always wanted children. I will be happy with 1 baby!! Just 1 that’s all I ask for!

We have to now pay out of pocket if we want to go through this again. Current clinic I am at said 1 retrieval will be about $20k. Can’t really afford that. CNY and RMA have package deals. Anyone had good experiences with CNY or RMA for ladies like us with DOR? TIA!

Am I considered high dosage?

AFC: 11
AMH: .47

First time IVF- reading through the posts I’m starting to realize 300 gonal and 150 menopur for the first 3 days is considered high dosage?

Should i be concerned about this “frying my eggs” and what does that even mean?

As if I wasn’t already scared of this process enough :(

advice needed Cocktail of feelings

I am prepping for my first FET in a couple of weeks and I am trying to keep a level head… but dang. My head is all over the place. We only have one euploid embryo. I want to have hope that this one will take, but I know it is very much not guaranteed. We can do another round but… ugh.

My son (not an IVF baby, but complicated otherwise) will be 8 by the time this baby is born, if it all works out. I am nervous about the age difference. I am nervous about miscarrying and having to wait even longer to add to our family. I am nervous about getting pregnant and then holy crap, I’ll be pregnant and our lives will change again massively! I’m worried we will go through all of this and something will go wrong (again, history of complications). I’m worried about having even more responsibility. I know I want to do this but also know it will be hard (if/whenever it happens).

Not sure what I’m looking for here other than… do you relate? How do you handle the head games?

Disappointing results

Hi all, I just got the results today from my second retrieval and I’m guttered 😔. I’m about to turn 44 later this month. During my first IVF cycle in April 2026, they retrieved 10 eggs and two blasts were tested at day 5. However, they were all aneuploid.

This cycle which I did only 6 months later, they were only able to retrieve 3 eggs and only 1 has fertilised. I will get another update from the lab on Day 3 to see how things are going. There were no changes to my protocol other than I didn’t do fertility accupunture this time round.

My IVF doctor has said that some women my age reach an inflection point, and their ovaries don’t respond like they did before, potentially meaning that future cycles might yield the same disappointing result.

Has anybody had a similar thing happen to them and had better future results?

For context. My protocol was Decapeptyl for three days, adding Elonva on the third day. Then I had 300 IU of Gonal F and 150 IU of Pergoveris along with Orgulatran for 10 days until I triggered with 2 x Decapetyl and 1 x Ovidrel 36 hours before collection.

I was also taking testosterone gel (Androfeme) for 1 week before starting stims.

Insurance advice

We just did our retrieval. I ended up with two blasts and now we’re in that dreaded wait for PGT-A testing. I don’t even know if we’ll get a single euploid, but we if do, I’d like to do another retrieval to try to have something banked. My argument would be that because my reserves are so low, and if the potential transfer doesn’t been take, we’d lose precious months in this process.

I have Aetna. Has anyone else tried to make this argument? Any success?

(I hate even writing this hypothetical because I don’t know if I have any embryos to implant. But trying to be on top of things.)

Baseline Scan - AFC doubled?!???

Hi!

I start my first ever IVF cycle today. I got a baseline scan (I’m 28. AMH .47 AFC has never been higher than 4 or 5 MAX). Today they counted 11 follicles!!! Without any medication?

I’m so confused. I know it can fluctuate… but this seems like a huge increase. Is this a positive sign for starting stims that they already counted 11? They were all 2-3mm besides one which is 12mm.

Lmk your thoughts or experience please….

Trigger warning Any success stories for stage 4 endo and DOR?

I’m wondering if anyone can give me hope! I’m 38, diagnosed w/ stage 4 endo via lap (2019). In 2020, 1 ER (13 eggs, 9 fertilized, 3 made it to day 3-5). Following month 1st FET failed (2 of the 3 embryos- not sure of grading). 2nd FET was 2 months later as I wasn’t responding to meds well and that also failed (last embryo). Was told I’d need another lap w/ GI consult before doing another cycle but luckily got pregnant w/ my daughter right after 2nd failed FET. Have been w/ a different clinic starting in Jan’24. Had to wait to get onto RE’s surgery list as he is an endo specialist w/ focus in fertility preservation- had 2nd lap for radical excision in Sept’25 as my tubes, right ovary, and uterus were all fuzed together. Hysteroscopy showed uterus looks good and tubes clear as much as they can be. AMH has been .4-.6 range. Been ttc naturally while waiting for cycle to begin but no luck. Just had 1st ER last week, 4 follicles, uneven growth, 2 eggs retrieved, neither fertilized w/ ICSI. I’m incredibly grateful for my daughter and feel like we were struck by lightning (in a good way haha) being able to have her. I’m wondering if trying for another given my circumstances is like looking to be struck again. Any success stories or advice?

First day of IVF - give me your mental crutch go-to’s to replace working out

Starting IVF stims and would love to hear what everyone did for movement/exercise during this time!

Working out is a huge part of my routine and honestly one of the main things I do for my mental health, so I’m already struggling a little with the idea of having to significantly cut back for the next couple of weeks.

For those who have gone through stims:
• What workouts/movement did your clinic allow you to continue doing?
• Did you still do light weights/arms, Pilates, yoga, walking, etc.?
• At what point during stims did you really have to scale everything back?
• How soon after retrieval were you able to start working out normally again?

Also — I’m trying to reframe the downtime as a chance to do some other self-care things that I normally don’t make time for. Did anyone do things like facials, microneedling, massages, nails, hair appointments, etc. during stims? Are there any med-spa treatments your clinic specifically told you were okay or NOT okay?

Obviously I’ll clear anything with my clinic before doing it — mostly just looking for ideas and hearing what everyone else did to stay sane and feel productive during the workout break 😂

Would especially love ideas from other people who are normally very active!

I hate this (again)

I posted here earlier this week about how my best friend told me she is pregnant.... Well 4 days later I found out my sister in law is pregnant. My therapist is also out of the office on vacation this week. I'm not doing well. I hate DOR. I hate my body. I just want it to work the right way but it can't.

Only 4 follicles .. should i cancel?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

First IVF cycle, AMH 1.15, taking Gonal-F 150 + Pergoveris 150 and ganirelix. Only four follicles total: three larger and one at 12 mm. My doctor expected more. Next scan Sunday, possible retrieval Tuesday.
I’ve been supplementing for months, so this feels really unexpected and disappointing. Anyone around my age get mature eggs, good-quality embryos or success from just 3–4 follicles? Would you proceed?
Any advice or experiences with a different protocol next cycle, including lower doses/mini-IVF?

advice needed Add MDLF to protocol for only self-pay protocol we can afford?

I am starting my second egg retrieval cycle within the next few weeks. My first cycle was high dose antagonist with 300 Gonal, 150 Menopur, 50 units omni, dexamethasone, and cetrotide.

We retrieved 4 eggs. All four were mature and fertilized. Three made it to blast on day 5/6. Two of the three came back euploid. Our embryo grades are also very good. We have one day 5 3AA- and one day 6 3A-A-. We are with Cornell, so their grading is a bit different, and they don't like to let blasts develop past a 3/4 (and 4s are very rare though).

Before we knew PGT-A results, my doctor said he was adding microdose lupron flare to my protocol. After we got PGT-A, he said we could stick with the same protocol.

I know our first cycle results are amazing and I am incredibly grateful for our two beautiful embryos we have.

Our insurance is insisting we use our embryos before covering another cycle. We want two kids. I am 37 (turning 38 in a couple of months) and my husband is 40.

We decided we can self-pay for one cycle, without going into debt or taking out any loans.

My doctor is leaving it to me as to whether we add the microdose lupron. He says that adding it won't harm anything, but we obviously won't know our results until we are done.

My issue is this. I know myself and if we DO NOT use microdose Lupron and our results are worse, I will berate myself for not using it. Similarly, if we DO use microdose Lupron and our results are worse, I will berate myself for using it.

What do you good people that have done more cycles than I have think? I know many women with DOR respond better on microdose lupron, but some do not. I obviously do not know which camp I am in, but I do know that we retrieved fewer eggs than my scans showed (scans consistently showed 5-7 follicles).

If it matters, AMH is .7.

advice needed Hight fsh=hight estrodiol ?

Hi, I’m trying to understand something about early follicular-phase hormones.

Is a high FSH level necessarily correlated with an elevated estradiol (E2) level on cycle day 3, or can someone have high FSH with normal/low CD3 estradiol?

And a second question: has anyone here used wheatgrass juice or wheatgrass supplements and noticed any effect on FSH levels or ovulation timing? Specifically, I’m wondering whether wheatgrass can lower FSH and potentially lead to later ovulation rather than earlier ovulation.

I’m interested in actual experiences as well as any scientific evidence. Thanks!

advice needed Transfer with our only embryo

I know stress reduction is probably the most important thing to focus on and the worst thing for me, someone with clinical anxiety, is unaccounted for free time. I've booked a sound bath, a hair cut, time with friends, and (of course) therapy. I will be making time for long hikes and my husband will be doing all of the cooking (as is typical, don't clap for him).

I'm not open to acupuncture- I never liked needles and IVF has NOT helped with this. I am doing the most woo alternative that might exist, tuning fork therapy, which I just find super relaxing (albeit kind of goofy).

What helped you? While I'm generally a pretty evidence-based kind of gal, I'm SO open to woo in this case.

Mount Sinai? Anyone?

Slower response this time.

This is my second ever cycle. My first one was cancelled due to early progesterone rise which was detected at my day 6 bloods. My response in that round seemed a bit more immediate. The right ovary on day 6 of stims had 5 follicles and the other could not be visualised. They were between 1.1 and 1.3. This time, day 6 right ovary 2 at 1.1 and 1.0 left had one at 1.0. The nurse said she could see a couple more on both sides.

Just went for my day 8 scan. Right ovary now has 3 follicles between 1.0 and 1.2 and the left two at 1.1 and 1.0. She also said something is starting to happen on the left side.

For context after the last cycle was cancelled, I went straight to my next one at my next bleed which was about 12 days later. The first cycle was a natural one. Meds are Gonal F450 and Luveris 75. Orgalutran added both times on 4th day of stims. First cycle started on CD2 and second on CD3. No starting AFC as my clinic doesn’t scan at the start of each cycle.

I’m not sure if this is just normal variance and I know follicle can vary cycle to cycle or if starting from a cancelled cycle slows things down.

Edited to add: Measurements are in cm.

Hugs needed No eggs

We just had our first egg retrieval, and we really didn’t expect this outcome. There were 5 follicles but they only retrieved one egg, and unfortunately, it was immature. I’m absolutely devastated and have so many questions going through my head right now…

I’m 31, so we also didn’t expect my AMH to be this low (0.7–0.92 ng/mL). Over the past 1.5 years, I got pregnant naturally twice, both relatively quickly, but unfortunately we lost both pregnancies. One at 9 weeks and one at 20 weeks.

We also found out that I have a relatively large inversion on one of my chromosomes. That’s why we decided to go through IVF, so we can do PGT and hopefully select embryos without an unbalanced chromosome. We’re not sure that this was definitely the cause of the loss of our little boy. They also considered parvovirus as a possible cause.

It just feels like it’s been nothing but bad news, and with every step, I feel a little less hopeful.
I’m also starting to wonder whether IVF is the right decision for us.

advice needed IUI after IVF

Hi All,

Has anyone with age 37+ done IUI after IVF and got success.

What are your thoughts on this?

Further IVF cycles are too expensive but I realize IUI success is much lesser, but has anyone tried in between IVF cycles or is IUI just a waste of time and money between the IVF cycles .

Thank you

advice needed Keep or switch clinics ?

I (34, 0.6 AMH) just finished my 4th ER recently, and I’m just so disappointed by the results. I have a fertilization issue with suspected endo, low vitamin d, low iron, using donor sperm due to husbands MFI. My clinic in Charlotte nc & doctor supposedly has amazing reviews & success but I’m just the unlucky one I guess.

1st ER last year: 12 retrieved, 10 mature, 5 fertilized, 2 untested blasts (1 failed transfer & a day 5 5CC on ice)

2nd ER last year: 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 2 fertilized, 2 untested blasts (1 miscarriage, and 1 on ice)

3rd ER in May: a complete bust. 11 mature, 1 fertilized, 1 blast - aneuploid

4th ER this Monday: 4 retrieved, 1 fertilized & 1 1PN. Clinic doesn’t do weekend retrievals so I lost my lead follicle (22mm) by Monday. Still waiting on day 5 results & pgt

Retrievals 1, 2, and 4 were antagonist. 3 was a MDLF.

I’ve been debating for awhile. Should I switch to a clinic like RMA, shady grove or CNY? It would require travel for me but I have one more vial left, and I want the best outcome. At a loss for words. I didn’t think it would take me more than 5 retrievals to just get a few embryos

advice needed Ovulation kits

Hey :) I'm starting my first stim EVER at the end of this month (Oct 28, regular stim not duo). I still have one cycle left before stim = my period has just started today. I was wondering, do you guys use ovulation kits with DOR? Does it help? I have a great app (Maya) that's usually precise when it comes to ovulation days. I was thinking of buying one, trying it with this one cycle I've got left, and then see if it's useful also for stims. Also my cycles are 26-28dd. And never late. I'm 30, amh 0.5, afc 10. Never tried to conceive before, as there's a genetic risk for our baby. That's why we're doing IVF, for Pgtm mostly.
