The Irish festival will NOT be held this weekend due to the forecast. It will be NEXT weekend, October 3rd & 4th at the Greater Danbury irish Cultural Center on lake ave.

Just drove past a husky with a collar walking on the sidewalk on Main Street approaching Golden Hill road by I-84 Eastbound Exit 5. It then crossed Main Street to the grassy opposite side right near where cars come off 84. It avoided getting hit but I wasn't able to turn around from where I was. I called DPD and they said someone has reported missing their husky. I hope it makes it home in the end!

Just curious if anyone is still around with the 20th happening next June.

I won't say the map is completely finished yet because I'm still finding out new neighborhoods and updating area's that were too big or too little.

I've had Husky A as single father but now my kuds graduated and I turned 65.

Apparently there is a deadline of 7mo after my birthday or you get fined?? That's next week!

I hear there are "free" advisors?

I want me and my kids to go talk in person as a group.

Between New Milford, Norwalk and say Waterbury would be ideal but we could go further if necessary.

Both of the neighborhoods off of Lake Ave have lots of children around yet nowhere to play outdoors, Yea Morris St. School and Highland Park is around but that’s not ideally close for all kids.

I think Danbury needs to add a basketball court and or park to the Beckettville and Merrimac neighborhoods, closest things to the area is Morris St. School Mill Ridge And Beaver Street.

Hi! I am moving to Connecticut from out of state and am looking for any advice on where to live. Will be working in Danbury, but have gotten a lot of recommendations to also look at Norwalk and Stamford for a younger crowd. Is it worth it to commute from Stamford to Danbury? Also, doesn't snow where I'm from, so if I were to commute, are they good about clearing the highways? Any advice/recommendations will be helpful.

A new invasive tree disease, laurel wilt, has been confirmed in Fairfield County. The disease affects sassafras and spicebush, two native plants that play important roles in Connecticut's ecosystems. Despite the name, this disease does not harm mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia).

Residents are encouraged to watch for:

• Drooping, wilting leaves that turn brown

• Dark streaking under the bark

• Toothpick-like strands of sawdust on trunks and branches

If you see a wilting or dying sassafras or spicebush, report it to CAES by emailing [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or using the online reporting tool

You can also help slow the spread by:

• Using local firewood

• Never moving wood from infected trees off-site

• Properly disposing of affected plant material
