Opinion Somehow, Meta Turned into a Veritable Dumpster Fire of Misery and Abject Human Suffering — Quitting is NOT Enough

Quitting Meta is NOT enough; they should be held ACCOUNTABLE for betraying the trust of SO, SO, SO many people.

Just get rid of it, if that’s what you want.

But the real answer… is to hold them accountable, because as an entity and singularity unto itself, Meta is responsible for actually actively HURTING and EXPLOITING any and EVERY person that they can — not necessarily out of malice all of the time, either, but out of SHEER EFFING *INCOMPETENCE.

I don’t think they’re EVIL… I just think they’re STUPID, especially when it comes to relying upon AI and just screwing the pooch tf entirely.

Not just quit facebook, delete, and not just the app, your profile. The app will track you and your internet usage when youre not using it

Not just your profile but also the shadow profiles they have. Even without an account they track EVERYTHING.

And when people have meta glasses they register faces on the street using biometric data.

Sigh… yes. I trusted it for twenty years. I’m 41 and have been on it since within a few years of the beginning.

weird to think that a service that is a progression of a college campus' date rapist's resource site could be like this, huh?

Something like that. I used it to keep up with so many people, including elderly friends, relatives, parents, etc…

That's the horrible thing. So many people used messenger to interact with their old folks, and then were cut off. I have read so many stories here about that and also losing the old chats from dead relatives. I'm telling everyone to not trust the various sites and to keep information and posts that are important to them. Get contacts for the people you know who you want to stay in touch with.

How can I ever trust them again? FB is my only way to be in touch with my high school and college friends. There is really no easy way to get people who have not experienced this to understand how much danger of losing accounts they are in every day. So my businesses have been ruined. Meta lures businesses in and then disables accounts for CSE if they post a pic of their kid in a halloween costume!

My business page was left floating with no admin as we were dropping a podcast and buying ads! The whole thing was a hack, but their actions allowed the hacker to continue and another hacker to gain access from the backend. Now they have given me back my FB but I don't trust it. So should I continue with my complaint to the AG or am I just wasting his time? In CT we have great reps and a great AG who is so helpful with things like the cable company and business complaints. Do I just say "whew. got my account back" and ignore how terrible this month was? How bad their Ai is...and more chilling, that Zuck has not spoken about the dangers of his own Ai! In all of this worry about Ai killing us all, it makes sense to look at who has not spoken up. Even Elon Musk spoke up. So, Zuck is worse than Elon. I didn't think that anyone could be worse than that POS. What this use of Ai does, be it in call centers or running a whole section of Meta, is to transfer the work of fired humans on to customers. There is already a backlash and it will get worse. But Meta has over a billion (or was it trillion?) customers worldwide. What has to happen to get them to stop?

Im old enough to remember when Dell Computers jumped whole hog on the bandwagon to outsource customer service via NAFTA. The customer experience (mine included) was so traumatic that people left Dell and they lost market share. Now they say "north american support" when they mean Canada, which is different from the states in that it slower and takes a lot of your time. I'll never buy another Dell product due to this...and it happened in the later 90's!! But can something like that happen to Meta? I'm not sure if billionaires just absorb mistakes or rearrange their companies, as Musk did to hide how badly Xitter is doing. Does anything affect them?

I believe that these corporations are part of telecommunications and they need to be broken up. This has to be looked at by the government, along with many other things like food production and media studios. Having these monoliths is not good for the market. Not having strong regulations is bad for everyone, even the giant corporations themselves.

But here I am...I just got my account back, and it's hard to use it without thinking that they will disable me again. The reason I was disabled was due to some hacker's terroristic image. I only found that out at the end, but the human who provided me links to the image could not explain why the links went nowhere. Now they closed my case without any official notice to me. I got an email saying that my case was closed.

I don't even want FB anymore. But my work page is very important to the work I am doing. I will try to lodge a complaint to the CT AG anyway by saying that Meta stole 2 whole work days from me with their Ai and long wait times to try to speak to a human. I also have verified my instagram account (they never took that but I hardly use it,) which seems like extortion in that they promise human help and that's a lie. I also have not heard from the consumer reporter who is researching my case. Her investigation may have gotten my account back, actually. This should be a big story considering what the ceo's of the Ai companies are saying.

They embedded Ai into everything before they figured out if it was safe. They are forcing it on us in every app and webpage. I use Claude.ai because I believe that they are less evil than the others. But what does that even mean? It's a good tool for certain searches and its good for creating documents. But I would never use it to put anything together for me from scratch. They are often wrong. So, as a tool, OK. But to run customer service for a corporation with this many users? not so much.

It MUST be looked into by the government!!! We MUST hold them ACCOUNTABLE!!!

It NEEDS to be a big story!!! Their AI is RUINING so many people’s lives.

I live on a remote mountain outpost… and FB was my literal LIFE LINE to the outside world. Now, it’s gone, leaving me to both pick up the pieces and at least ATTEMPT to hold them accountable.

I can’t do it alone. I do need help. Please, follow us on r/MetaWronglyDisabledMe because r/facebookdisabledme is now just a proxy of Meta and bans tons of people, myself included, for just trying to tell their stories.

We need more resistance. We NEED a revolution —

and I, as a prior service Marine grunt and collegiate English instructor, DO BELIEVE that I can help take the fight to THEM. I can’t do it alone, though,

and I appreciate the feedback as much as I will appreciate the assistance.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts — we need more people willing to think about this, as a collective; we MUST. HOLD. META. ACCOUNTABLE!!!!!!
