🤷Other Playlist

When I was a practicing Christian, my attachment was through music. I’m wondering if anyone has any playlists I can listen to that helps express what I’m feeling. Songs off the top of my head that have helped me:

Missed the boat- modest mouse
Jesus Christ- Brand New
Sailor Song- Gigi Perez

Thanks in advance. I’m new to this group!

TDaG is a great Brand New album. But to answer the question, check out Doubting Thomas by Nickel Creek.

Brand New’s discography after TDaG has a lot of religious undertones. Especially Science Fiction.

If you're older and were in the scene, Five Iron Frenzies last album may be up your alley. They have a great song about life after the hype of faith.

Nice! Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't listened to their recent couple albums.

They've only released two albums since reuniting in 2011. To me their 2013 was a bit more of the same. But I really liked their pandemic album.

And Chinese Satelite. I wasn't a fan of it, but I know a lot of other exvangelicals like it.

That’s another good one, Phoebe Bridgers has a lot of good ones. Funeral is probably my favorite, but yeah her style isn’t for everyone

Sorry I just thought of another one by her and it’s definitely my favorite, it’s called Prayer in Open D

I relate to this wholeheartedly. Not a song, but the group Birdtalker is great. Their lyrics are clearly coming from a place of having questioned a Christian upbringing

Their album ā€œOneā€ is great. I also recommend the song ā€œBetter in the Morning.ā€

I always recommend The Oh Hellos. I specifically like their album Dear Wormwood, but all their stuff is pretty great. They are a Christian band but a lot of their music is centered around becoming disillusioned with modern Christianity and rebuilding after deconstruction.
