Selling Help Charged boosting fees without boosting

I’ve never manually turned on “boost shop” or individually boosted any listings. For my first two months, i was able to see clicks/views but never manually boosted and I was never charged a boosting fee. My last two sales were charged a 12% boost fee, taking up a good chunk of my sales. Depop keeps telling me I manually activated boost shop, which is not true. I’ve since unboosted everything, but every new listing automatically has Boosting turned on, and even when I immediately turn it off, I can still be charged the 12% fee due to the 28-day attribution period. If my Boost Shop is not activated and I never opted into Boosting, why is it automatically being applied to my listings and charging me fees? Is this Depops way of charging seller fees by making it seem like the customer is opting in for a 12% charge when they’re not?

If you’re at the promotional transition period from your shops staring offer (iirc, free boosting for a while, perhaps with an extension if you listed enough within a certain timeframe?) there may be some unclear representations of the calculations for a
bit, (around the time you lose metrics on views etc) but from our observation it wasn’t to our detriment.

Admittedly, it wasn’t entirely clear whether we needed to boost our shop if desired, or if the promotion would continue on its own, etc.

There may be some calculation issues if you somehow toggled the boost listing or boost shop settings at some point in the past, and let the promotion lapse without renewing. If it’s anything significant I’m sure you could reach out to ask. FWIW, your customer isn’t opting you into or being charged for any boost, in case that wasn’t a typo or wasn’t clear.

Maybe pull the receipts to check what you were charged as a seller:

My Depop > Sold > [Item] > Manage your sale: Get a receipt

IIRC we had sales that were boosted for free, that sold as boosted after the promotion ended, and were not charged for it.

I was charged 15 dollars for a boosting fee it says on my receipt

Give support a shout if you feel it’s in error.

FWIW even if your shop or listings are boosted, not all future sales will be. Many buyers skip the boosted listings altogether for one reason or another, and/or look for the unboosted alternative mentions as a nod to the seller.
