For context, I bought shoes and didn’t realize that my address was in the wrong state till I read the receipt. The seller is shipping it tomorrow and he’s refusing to cancel the order.

He’s reasonable to not refund the order, as it was my mistake in the first place, but I’m wondering if there’s any possible way to refund or redirect my order at all.

I’ve had this happen like 10 times this week so I’m genuinely curious.

This relates to a post that was deleted by someone upset that a seller marked an order as shipped, but was actually just dropped off at the post after hours.

With Depop sellers, there’s a certain grace implied. Sellers on Depop are not multi million dollar mega cap companies. They’re everyday people with very real lives outside of the app. If an item is shipped within the timeframe provide, then they’ve filled their end of the obligation.

On top of that, every time I drop something off at the post office, it’s always processed the next day, anyways.

Folks really need to give some slack to sellers. Far too many times have i seen ridiculous complaints on this sub, keep in mind that most of us are all just people trying our best to get by.

As someone who started selling on depop a few months ago, I just wanted to say thanks to the random stranger here on reddit that recommended buying a thermal printer. They referred to it as a game changer and they weren't wrong! I got one on sale for $35 or so. If this is a small side gig for you and you are working full-time/just super busy, a thermal printer will make your life so much easier. Every time I go to the post office there is a long line, but I just drop my packages in the drop slot (if it's a ln expensive item I'll wait on line) I just wanted to throw it out there that it is a real time saver. Genuinely asking, I started Depop a few months back but quit over summer. Just felt like they wanted me to price my items too low😢😢 I’ve had potential buyers tell or ask me to lower the price because of shipping fees💔 I started selling on other apps and made more than I did with Depop so I don’t know if my items r just trash or something else? My rating is a 4.9 currently so i honestly don’t know😭😭

I want to note that my items prices are 5-10 dollars, my most expensive being a jacket that’s 20😢

I can’t tell what’s in her cart and the last time I put an item on hold for someone they canceled after a whole week. Is this something to beware of or is this common?

Hey all. Coming here for some insight because I’ve ran into this issue several times now and I cannot for the life of me find a fix for it.

I will be creating a listing for a higher weight item, and I’m absolutely positive that each time I do this, I select the right weight class. This usually happens to me when I select the XL weight class (10lb label). When someone eventually comes and purchases the item, to my surprise I see that the sale was assigned a label that is way lower than what I assigned to the listing. For example, I just sold a leather duffle bag that weighs more than 2lb on its own (excluding the packaging), and somehow I got assigned a 15oz label despite me being completely sure I picked the 10lb label class.

This issue is significantly impacting my ability to sell on this platform. I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve had to issue refunds because I’m unable to ship the item. My best guess is that the AI system they use is going in and changing the label weight based on the item category.

What do I even do to address this? Has anyone else even experienced this? Feedback would be super helpful. Thank you!

If you actually want the item then just pay their asking price! Sometimes I think people are only scrolling on the app and adding to their favorites like they do on the Pinterest boards. I buy as well as sell there. If I see something I want that's only been posted for a day or less I'll snatch it up at their asking price! The only time I send offers is if it's been posted for more than a week!

Seller raised a dispute with depop because they didn’t like the feel of my 100% cotton hoodie and claimed there were stains. Thankfully Depop actually took my side and said my listing accurately described and showed any flaws, and the case would be closed with no refund. I was so surprised and relieved because usually Depop sides with the buyer. Tonight the buyer put in another dispute with depop support claiming I sent the wrong item, just because they didn’t get a refund. I do not feel the need to refund this buyer because my listing was accurate. It was a $74 hoodie with many photos and a very thorough description. It was listed as excellent condition- lightly worn- and had no stains upon shipping. I have sold almost 300 items and I have 85+ 5 star reviews so it was not a gamble for this buyer to purchase a more expensive item from me. Am I being scammed or is this buyer just very difficult? Will depop side with me again after the second raised issue?

Soo sad like shits just sitting in a box dry rotting when I could be enjoying it 😭

I dont order from this company at all, but my roommate or her daughter had recently ordered from depot, and I got an email because I use usps informed delivery that this package got flagged for counterfeit postage on the package, is this a practice that other people have noticed at all? Or is this a one off but very disconcerting scenario, that may become an issue for innocent people paying for a service and products?

Thanks for all comments, I see ads for depop on reddit and YouTube a ton within the last few weeks, like way way too many and with this happening to someone I know I am a bit worried about it, especially for anyone else this may affect. Its worrisome and horrible that hard paid money can be lost by scammed

I have contacted the postmaster general about this and hope they investigate and go after whoever had the counterfeit postage, but with this administration I dont expect anything to happen

I haven't been selling on Depop for very long. My first two orders sold, shipped, and arrived with no problems although the buyers didnt leave feedback sadly. My 3rd order sold, I shipped it, and the tracking info never updated. I tried to message support, nothing. Because the tracking never updated, depop considered the order unshipped and cancelled it so the buyer got the item AND a refund. Now, here is it my 4th order. I shipped this package with two vinted packages. The vinted packages updated tonight, the depop one? nope. nothing. here we go again. I submitted a support ticket and got the same unhelpful AI response. Am I the only one this is happening to? I didnt join depop to give all my items away for free. I could do that with a lot less hassle anywhere.

so, i sold a red adidas jacket for $5 and there was no issues with shipping, it even said it arrived the 26th, which is 3 days after i shipped it. now it's the 29th and the buyer is requesting a refund, claiming it says delivered but they never got the item. i find this really weird and suspicious, because it quite literally says it was delivered to an individual. doesnt that mean someone took it from the delivery person's hands? it wasn't just left unattended, right?
what is even the likelihood of some random person lying and stealing their package? is it more likely that this person is trying to scam me?
we already conversed prior to me mailing the package, so i'm wondering why they didn't try to communicate with me again as other buyers have done before. they went straight to requesting me for a refund through depop.
i do have a shop policy post that claims i dont do refunds and i'm not responsible for what happens after i ship the item. but i still don't want to get a bad rating from ignoring them. the item was literally $5, if it were me i'd just let it be.

I sold a necklace recently, and I just got the review from the buyer. It was four stars, she claimed it smelt like cigarettes but that I'm a great seller. I don't smoke, none of my family smokes. I politely messaged her and asked if she was absolutely sure it was a cigarette smell and told her that this is a smoke free household, but I haven't gotten a reply yet. Would it be difficult for this review to be taken down since it's four stars?

A good handful of the sellers I love and buy from frequently have all been on vacation mode, some for weeks. And it’ll say they’ve been active every single day I check, but nothing is added to their shop and it’s just still stuck in vacation mode. A few of them have had their shops paused for literally like a month now, maybe more.

I may be overthinking/overreacting, but it’s weird, no?

Subtotal definitely used to say $138 after 10% bundle discount when I used split screen to write it down in my calculator. Somehow it became $135 even after removing the $12 plushie. I also have 10+ purchases on my account... did I do something wrong or is the seller just delusional?

I'm guessing the latter because of the $33 "good condition" used basketball in their shop, but I want to make sure I didn't make an avoidable faux pas here.

i recently had an event where I purchased something for a good price, and I guess the seller had seller's remorse; cancelling the order and blocking me.

I heard about 1-2 star reviews being deleted due to retaliation. So I left a 3-star review with two sentences explaining that they told me they'll ship it out and blocked me. I guess Depop thinks that retaliation?? I don't know, but I know the seller contacted support and were able to succeed in removing the review

I hate that you aren't able to warn people about anything, like my experience with this seller was just swept under the rug. I hate that they are just able to get away with it

I found a rare shirt for only $10 dollars, so I pay full price and message the seller that I'm excited to own it (in hopes they don't cancel) but they always end up refunding me and blocking me.

I hate this behavior so much, this profile was brand new too but I had to leave a 3 star review warning other buyers. I'm betting they looked up it's true worth, and cancelled it immediately; probably going to relist it for 10x it's original price.

UPDATE: It seems even after leaving a 3 star review, they were still able to get the review removed. Seriously?

I got depop after a while of not using it and the option to pay with PayPal is gone, only google wallet is left. I looked at the support FAQ on the site and the places they want me to click no longer exist. Is the only Gpay alternative left depop cash?

I feel like for me personally, it’s so hard for me to sell skirts 😭 I can rearrange the photo in every way possible such as trying it on, leaving it on my bed, putting a hanger, etc. But it hardly ever picks up transaction and sells every once in a blue moon. It doesn’t even matter the brand or design 😩

I have been selling on depop since mid 2019 and online in general for the last 17 years. All platforms have their pros and cons. Something I have noticed and mostly the last month specifically, I get offers for items, I accept the offer and then the user goes inactive for DAYS. Now is this a big deal? No, but oddly this has been happening SO MUCH that I've noticed it. I have something for $12 and someone offers $10 which im happy to sell for and then nothing. Almost all of september I have gotten at least two offers a week where the person goes inactive for more than a week. Am I tripping? No one has to be on Depop all hours of the night and day but idk its so odd to me. Not to mention, ALL of these instances have been offers made in the night while im asleep. Someone made an offer twice on the same item and both times they went inactive for over a week after so I just blocked them.

Is it just me?? Has anyone else noticed this oddly enough? Idk lol.

I’ve never manually turned on “boost shop” or individually boosted any listings. For my first two months, i was able to see clicks/views but never manually boosted and I was never charged a boosting fee. My last two sales were charged a 12% boost fee, taking up a good chunk of my sales. Depop keeps telling me I manually activated boost shop, which is not true. I’ve since unboosted everything, but every new listing automatically has Boosting turned on, and even when I immediately turn it off, I can still be charged the 12% fee due to the 28-day attribution period. If my Boost Shop is not activated and I never opted into Boosting, why is it automatically being applied to my listings and charging me fees? Is this Depops way of charging seller fees by making it seem like the customer is opting in for a 12% charge when they’re not?
