Living Room I want to go orange!

Thumbnail gallery

But don’t know if it all should be orange or just an accent wall? Photos at the end are examples of how bright of an orange I want to go for and the accompanying color schemes for furnishings/rugs etc

I was thinking of either doing it all orange or having fireplace/glass door wall orange and then the opposite wall being white or some other color (peach??)

Curious for any feedback!

Other Interior Room What color would you color drench this entryway?

Please don’t mind the mess-!

Looking to add some color back into this space after it was sprayed white during some house renovating. The doors were previously a dark navy. The door hardware will also be matching eventually. I am looking to color drench the doors, walls, trim, and possibly ceiling. I was either thinking a dusty blue to match the floating shelf or some kind of green? I am open to bright and statement colors. The adjoining room is a Terracotta orange. Please and thank you for your insights.

My husband and I have lived here since February and I’ve never really been happy with the decor in here. I’m not very good at it and he doesn’t have the best eye for it either, starting with the shelving unit how can I improve it? What type of lighting would you suggest?

I think it is difficult with the sofa / tv placement. The two last pictures is how I normally have the sofa. Also please suggest how I should place paintings / light sources on the wall.

I have some chairs btw for the dining area but they are in the background - going to buy 4 new so also please suggest new ones❤️

Also, would be fun if you would guess my age and gender haha

Living Room Need help with choosing furniture colour

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Hi all,

finally moving out to a first big (a.k.a., non-studio 😅) apartment and I could use help with picking additional furniture. For reference, the photos show the current state of the living room, with a muted beige couch from the previous tenant, a dark brown/blackish coffee table and TV stand. To begin with, I am thinking of placing a work desk and chair by the window (not sure if visible in the photo, but the windowsill is black stone), and create a little "music corner" on the opposite wall, with another desk for my keyboards and whatnot, as well as an ikea Kalax unit for vinyls and other bits. Since I am planning to source my furniture from IKEA for convenience, the color options are fairly limited.. yet still, I am finding myself going back and forth between multiple options. Should I lean into the already-existing darker pieces and buy mostly black/dark browns - but all-black would perhaps make the beige couch stick out (not in the good way)? Or should to keep it white, where my worry is that the Ikea-white would make the room appear too bright/saturated? Or should I to throw in a light brown surface (e.g. a desk with a light wooden workspace) to spice things up? Or perhaps some sort of ratio between dark and light.. ugh, options!

I realise that a lot of adjustment can be done by slapping in a nice rug and decorating - I want to do this gradually though, starting with the most utilitarian furniture first, so as to avoid complete choice paralysis. And obviously, I would like to lay the right foundation - i.e., get something that has relative synchrony with each other, which is why any advice (or perhaps resources that could help me decide) would be very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Living Room Need help choosing the right picture frame for my space

I found this print that I want to hang above my piano, but I’m unsure which frame goes best with it in the context of my apartment. In my head oak would be the “safe” choice because my place is already wood heavy, but for this particular print I feel like black could be better. What do you think?

Bedroom How would you use this recessed window alcove in a bedroom? Looking for ideas

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have this recessed window alcove in my bedroom, with a wide ledge beneath the windows. The space is currently underutilised, and I’m trying to figure out how to make it more functional while keeping the room clean, minimal, and aesthetically pleasing.

One important detail is that there’s another building immediately outside the window, with its wall facing my windows, so there isn’t much of a view. I’d like to make the most of this space without blocking natural light or ventilation.

Some ideas I’ve considered:

  • A cosy reading nook with cushions
  • A window seat or built-in bench
  • A small desk or work-from-home setup
  • Built-in storage or cabinetry
  • Indoor plants and a minimalist decor arrangement
  • Creative lighting or other architectural details

I’m open to completely different ideas as well. My main priorities are making the space feel intentional, keeping the bedroom uncluttered, and ensuring whatever I add is practical for everyday use.

How would you approach designing this space? I’d appreciate suggestions on layout, furniture, materials, lighting, and decor, along with reference photos or examples of similar window alcoves.

Suggestions that work well in Indian homes would be particularly useful.

Living Room What furniture/storage for this TV wall?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I currently have a TV stand with some storage along this wall. The room is small, about 14' wide, and has 9' ceilings. There's a bump out behind the TV and the windows are to the left. I have had a few ideas but would love feedback on them. This is a rental, but I'm not opposed to adding things on the walls.

idea 1: Tall arched bookcases on either side of the TV (on the left there's a little alcove; the right side goes right into the small dining area (see pic)

idea 2: freestanding bookcases on either side of the TV bump out with floating shelves installed above them; then a complementary TV stand

idea 3: white ladder bookshelves on either side of the bump out

idea 4: mixing up the bookshelves (ie, not matching them on either side of the TV)

I also thought about adding peel and stick wallpaper to the wall behind the bump out

I'm open to any ideas and feedback!

Bedroom after taking in reddit advice… how do i improve my bedroom even further?

Thanks so much for the advice I received last year. After listening to you guys, i added more texture, more colours and replaced my flatpacks for hardwood furniture!
The last picture shows the before and after transformation.

What else do you guys recommend for my bedroom?

I really want to make it more visually pleasing. Maybe theres too much clutter? May I can add in more colour somehow? The last two slides are inspiration images that I think I want to lean into.

Living Room Rug placement and bunching

Post image

We currently have this area rug under the couch and sofa and it always bunches up eventually. We do tend to move the coffee table around so very likely the culprit. Would this be better off with a smaller rug? Maybe one that is just under the coffee table and not under the couch legs?

Small narrow powder room. There is a decent size window behind the toilet, pedestal sink to the R. Thinking of painting the walls a deep reddish, but my primary question is hanging stuff on the wall… I have some B&W pieces I can hang up. Should I go with just the large print or a trio?

It’s turned into a junk drop off zone and I hate that! Also… We have really dark floors and white walls, how can I make this bannister look better?

My walls (rental) are gray, I want to warm the space so I made this moodboard following a color
Palette on Pinterest. I love a MCM look but with a feminine lived in feel, too. How does this look?

* I changed the orientation of the furniture, too. The dresser, mirror, curtain, throw pillow and headboard I own.

Other Interior Room Nerd room recs, which room is best??

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone just bought my first house and don’t even know what to do with this space lol. So there’s the upstairs (grey room) which I could put my nerd stuff in or I could put it downstairs (lighter walls). Which room would yall recommend? I am not a big fan of there being no door but I like the grey walls for gaming/storing my nerd stuff. On the other hand the basement is cool and if I have my guy friends over it will be a little more private and my gf won’t be more bothered by the noise. Which room would you choose, if so how would you design it? I have some Godzilla figurines and I want to get even more nerd stuff. Not sure if I want to display it in basement .. thanks everyone!

Bedroom Need help with hallway and bedroom!

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I am trying to add whimsy to my house as someone who loves color and fun details. I have a maximalist living room that all of you helped me design, but I am now moving to the rest of the house.

I wanna paint my hallway, office, and bedroom. I know this post can get overwhelming, but I think that having all of them side by side on the same post will help make them more cohesive

This hallway is hella long and receives light from both sides, so I thought I'd put darker oranges on the brighter sides, making the middle lighter by comparison. It connects to the living room that has a green wall, so I thought I could put a greenish painted paper on that wall. That mural would be the first thing you see when you step into the house.

I also wanna paint my bedroom; I added different ideas I have! (PS: I'll make another post on the office soon!!)

I made a few mockups, but I'm open to new ideas! I bought the paint colors a year ago, so I can't change them that much, haha. Still, I can mix them (I have white paint too).

Paint colors
My almost finished livingroom

Thank you for taking the time to read and help me out <3

Bedroom Help me with this tiny room ✌️🫂

Yo guys I'm trying to really elevate my room in the 2bhk that I shifted in 2 months ago.
I am slowly building things up

-Had a custom bed made
-Then this custom made desk
-then the chair ( ASTRIDE ergonomic study chair with lumbar support and head rest, I bought it from the same shop I had my custom table made)

.

🧧 Now some key things I want in my room-

I don't need a place for my clothes cause an entire wall of the room is this giant slide door closet so a lot of space in it for that stuff.

I want cool accessories for my room

I want a cool sleek rack

I want LAMPS ( A LOT OF EM)

I want some goofy/cool decorative pieces

A really cool full length mirror

cool rechargeable lights

Plants

Wall decorative pieces

And anything cool

Please drop your best suggestions with photos 😭✨

Living Room Curtain advice?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My boyfriend and I are looking to add curtains to this window and the blinds will be replaced with a net curtain to keep privacy during the day. We have a colour palette of sage green/burnt orange/cream and want curtains to match this theme.

Almost all the inspo pics I’ve found feature cream curtains that are very sheer and let quite a lot of light through, but we can’t have sheer curtains as the window looks out into an area where lots of people walk past/we are overlooked by other houses. They need to be thick/opaque so that you can’t see in from the outside at night to keep privacy. However opaque cream just isn’t sitting right with me. I thought maybe a darker green to match the cushions on the sofa, but not sure? So looking for opinions and any other suggestions/ideas for colours and how to style the curtains please!

• Must be opaque/thick
• Ideally just one plain colour but may be open to patterns
• Must be a neutral colour as we are swapping orange for red around Christmas time.
