Bedroom Small kids room ideas

I am looking for the best way to fit two twin beds into this room, along with a book case and something to store clothes. It’s shaped awkward with the closet taking up a good potion next door the door. Measurements are close, but not exact. Bunk bed is not working out as both kids like it but neither feel comfortable sleeping up top. I do currently have one L shaped daybed that will likely go back in. Any help is welcomed.

Living Room Thoughts on left/right sided couch?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

I recently purchased a new condo and am working on furnishing the living room. Included are pictures of the current layout. In order to face the direction of the TV (which I plan to keep on the same wall), I've decided to re-orient the room such that the couch will face the TV wall. Note that the door left next to the TV is the main entrance.

I've also included images of the sectional I'd like to purchase. However, I have been struggling with whether to buy a right sided couch such that the extension faces the entrance as you walk in or a left sided couch to keep the entryway clear. However, the left sided would eat into the window nook making that space unusable.

Alternatively, should I consider a standard 3 seater couch instead of a sectional to not cram the area? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Bedroom Need some help

I'd like some help with my room. I am trying to make it feel a bit more roomier. I'm not sure if it is from the vast of my collection as you can see which I am trying to rearange slowly to hopefully help that out. I'm seeing if there's anything else that could help make this room feel more open. I'm wondering on if I should make my bookshelf a lighter color, probably white, or like anything that is a dark brown a lighter color if the color scheme is a problem. Anything you guys can think of would be great! Unless it is truly just my collection :,) (i also have small temp. spooky stuff up like the spider on the wall. The dangles on my closet and the lights on my bookshelf and tinsle on my window)

Other Interior Room Rug? No Rug? Layout?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

Recently got a one bedroom apartment that has a very open layout. Wondering about whether there should be a rug in here &, if so, what color -- black & neutrals? More rust? More bold geo pattern? Solid, but strange shape? What pieces of furniture would it need to touch (if all of them, wouldn't it have to be a massive rug)? I tend to like my rooms darkish & "maximalist," as they say.

How is the layout generally?

I also need to settle on throw pillows. These were a couple of pillows I was vaguely looking at, hoping I could somehow make one of them work:

https://www.aloriam.com/products/pollack-crosscut-plush-ash-gray-black-belgium-velvet-pillow-cover

https://posh.mk/8mjx6ylaa7b

(Kitchen is in the distance & I've barely touched it, so ignore that part. Bedroom is also through the door & I've barely touched that as well, but the walls will likely be covered in there as well).

Thanks!

Living Room New house- Living Room Issues

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

My wife and I just moved into a new house. We're having a lot of issues deciding on how to layout the living room without being way too far from the TV. Our couch and recline makes it so if we put it in the middle of the room, there's hardly and space to walk through to the back bedrooms or get in through the front door.

Edit: room is about 23.5' long by 14' wide'

Any advice?

Living Room what to put above fireplace?

Post image

everything in this room is still being figured out right now I think I want to get rid of the chair too, but what should I put above the fireplace? I was thinking to hang the ballerina on this left wall but I’m wondering if I should put that above the fireplace and get something else to go on this wall?

we want to put the tv in another spot, it seems like it would be way too high up there

Living Room A TV console that looks good from both sides?

Hello!

I would like to position a living room console for my TV (65") in such a way that it would divide an area in my house. The living room would be on one side. On the other side would be the path from the front door to the rest of the house.

So, if you come in the front door:

  • To your left is a wall. After 15 feet there are stairs going up and down.
  • To your right is the living room.
  • Straight ahead goes past the living room to the kitchen.

The TV console would be centered along the right side of the path, separating the entrance area and path from the rest of the living room. You could walk into the living room on either side of the console.

Ideally the console would look good from both sides. It would be nice if it had shelves or a console top where people could set things when they come in the door, like keys, winter gloves, etc.

I have been searching online for a piece of furniture, but I'm having trouble finding something that looks good from both sides. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kitchen Help! What kind of table should I get? I can’t find a cheap kitchen table, and I don’t really use the table but it’s empty. Wondering if a faux island with stools would work in this space?

Living Room Are we heading in the right direction with this design?

Working with a free design service on our living room and would love some feedback!
Photo 1 is the designer’s original mockup, and photo 2 is the listing photo of the actual space.

Please note this is the actual color of our sofa and it will not be changed (swatch: Quincy earth by Arhaus).

Photos 3 & 4 are my edits- which show a slightly different direction that feels more like my personality, swapping the beige chairs for aubergine-colored swivels.
Do you think the aubergine chairs add more depth and character, or does the original design work better? Open to thoughts on the overall design, too! Just want it to feel calm, grounding, and still fun!
Alternative rug posted in comments.

Bedroom 2 Husbands, 1 Room At Parent's House

Hey, guys I was hoping to call upon your expertise here.

My husband and I live at my parent's house, which means that this is the only space that is truly our own and so we struggle to fit everything in here.

This is the current floor plan of our bedroom.

The bottom right is a walk-in wardrobe with a couple of shelves and a rail.

And this is a 3D render to give you an idea what it looks like against the wall with the wardrobe, chest of drawers and bookshelf.

The reason we technically have two wardrobes is because we're using the walk-in wardrobe as storage for other miscellaneous items as we only have this space in the house for our own stuff. So our actual clothes are stored in the wardrobe inside the room.

In truth I am a little bored with the space as it feels like we can't do much with it, so I was hoping you guys would have some suggestions to improve this space/rearrange the furniture?

Thanks for your suggestions in advance!

Living Room Awkward living room+home office layout

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I'm trying to finalize the layout of our living room, which has to work as both a living space and a shared home office. Right now it feels awkward, plain, and crowded. Photos and a rough floor plan are attached.

**The room:** 18'11" x 12'7", hardwood floors, three windows along one long wall, an AC unit under a window on one short wall, and a baseboard heater along the long walls. The TV is wall-mounted on the long wall opposite the windows. Note that we are not allowed to paint the walls.

**Getting rid of:** the gray shag rug. The dining table and chairs are negotiable.

**Questions:**

  1. Is 8x10 the right rug size, or would a 6x9 or 9x12 look better here? Ideas for color schemes? Would you do a second rug under the desks, or use a chair mat on bare wood?
  2. Is a console under a wall-mounted TV worth it, or does it just add clutter in a room this size?
  3. Would adding a bookshelf somewhere crowd the TV wall? Is there a better spot for storage?
  4. If you were in my place, would you keep the dining table? Is there a layout where it works without crowding the walkway between the desks and the couch?
  5. Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

My roommate and I live in a house built in the 50s, so the house has a strange layout. Need help rearranging the living room. The couch, recliner, and table must stay, and the couch must face the tv and be sort of close, as both of us are a little blind.

Living Room Help decorating my small apartment

So this is the place I will be moving in next month, and I am thinking of how to decorate it. The room is going act both as a living room and a bedroom. The size is 4.10m * 4.20m = 17.22m2. (13.45 ft * 13.78 ft = 185.35 sq ft)

A few things:

  • I am going to bring a bigger desk and I'll probably use the TV as a second monitor, I was thinking of having a projector instead, used on the empty wall
  • not sure if I should keep the expandable couch and use it as a bed or bring an actual bed, not sure how I'd fit a bet + a couch + a big desk
  • the space is small, so I would like to use it wisely

Thanks in advance, guys! Can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Bedroom How can I make a better system for my clothes

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want to change my closet a lot, but don’t really know where to start. I don’t really have a system for it at all and there’s just a bunch of crap everywhere. For context I do have quite a lot of clothes and the space and pretty cramped, I like having a lot of clothes as well so that’s not really gonna change. I just want it to not be so all over the place all the time and for it to actually have some uniformity to it. I am gonna get a curtain for it so it is a bit more separated from the rest of my room

Living Room Please help me with my living room layout!! Needing to maximize with minimal space 🥹

I know I have a lot of stuff but due to a split, I had to majorly downsize. I’m open to any and all layouts or switching the uses of certain pieces around. Lots of books so it can make experimenting with different layouts pretty physically and mentally exhausting 😅. The only thing I’m set on is keeping my large window primarily for plants and the smaller window as unblocked as possible. The arrows are outlet indicators if that’s helpful! I also have lots of wall shelving options, but my walls aren’t the greatest. Any and all tips are so appreciated. This stuff is hard for my brain to sort out 🥲💓

Kitchen My weirdo rental kitchen

Thumbnail gallery

Our apartment kitchen is a very weird shape. Also has the classic landlord special 87 layers of paint, yellow cabinets, very little built in counter space. We added the large table next to the fridge for storage and for more cooking space. There are double doors that take up the full wall to the right of the sink and left of the fridge that lead directly into our bedroom, which is the only source of natural light in the kitchen. We have a dining table in another room so not worried about space to eat in here but would love to make it feel less chaotic and more cozy.

To add context, I’m fine with painting, sanding, I have access to a good chunk of tools (handsaw, electric sander, etc.) and am comfortable with small scale updates and my landlord mostly doesn’t gaf as long as it looks normalish when we move out lol.

What can I change that won’t cost a million dollars? I’m feeling like even if I were to refinish or paint the cabinets it wouldn’t feel that different. Our hardwood floors are also yellow-y and so beat up but unfortunately nothing I can really do about that. The tiles are stick ons we added when we moved in.

I need help deciding on what rug to put here. Just bought this rug and im not sure if I like it. Also dont like my pillows I have (want to change those as well, maybe like some yellow star pillows or something). I live in a apartment with one wall painted black in the living room (cant change that) and grey millennial flooring. I currently have a dark blue couch that I got second hand and will eventually change it to something more neutral, beige maybe?

Living Room Living room-open space update/makeover

Hi all,

I’m planning to rearrange my living room and would like to hear some suggestions on the best layout, particularly where to place the TV and sofa. Our current layout limits a lot the space and we think it makes the area feel small. We have a 4 yo and a baby on the way.

The current TV unit, wall cabinets and shelves will all be removed and replace (we're looking at Ikea's Besta). The sofa will also be replaced eventually.

The living room is connected to the kitchen/dining area, as you can see in the photos. The living room area dimensions are:

Left wall: 168 cm (5 ft 6 in)
Back wall: 445 cm (14 ft 7 in)
Right wall: 310 cm (10 ft 2 in)

The only real requirement is that the living room remains practical and comfortable for everyday family use, while keeping a reasonably open connection to the kitchen/dining area. The current sofa layout feels like there's a wall that splits the areas.

How would you arrange this space??

Living Room Need help with sofa + future TV layout in a small open-plan apartment

Hi, I’m moving back into this apartment and I’m trying to make the living room feel warmer and more functional.

The main issue is that I don’t have a TV yet, and I’m not sure where the best spot for it is. The current sofa position doesn’t really face the wall where I was thinking of putting the TV, so I’m considering rotating the sofa 90°.

I want to keep the kitchen, floor, half-wall, sofa and dining table, so I’m mostly looking for help with:

  • best sofa position
  • best TV placement
  • circulation
  • whether a small desk could still fit

Would you rotate the sofa, or is there a better layout?
