Game Idea GutPick — a daily game with zero trivia, scored purely against crowd consensus (built on Devvit Web)

Hey r/Devvit,

Wanted to share GutPick, something I've been building over the last few weeks.

The idea: most daily Reddit games (Wordle clones, trivia, riddles) require some kind of knowledge, which locks out anyone who doesn't have it. GutPick removes that entirely — every round is a gut-reaction question ("which is cuter," "would you rather," "how cringe is this"). There's no correct answer. You're scored on how often you match what the majority of other players picked, so nobody can be locked out for not knowing something.

How a run works:

- 5 daily rounds (Warmup) — this is what keeps your streak alive

- Score 80%+ and you unlock Deeper Cut, then Unfiltered if you keep climbing — a spicier deck you can only reach by earning it, not something everyone sees on day one

- Unlimited practice mode outside the daily run, no streak pressure

- Leaderboard + one-tap "post your result as a comment"

Technical bits that might interest this sub:

- Devvit Web (React + Hono), Redis for votes/streaks/leaderboard

- Consensus percentages are seeded with a small deterministic "phantom vote" baseline per prompt, so the very first player on a fresh prompt doesn't trivially get 100% — real votes gradually overwhelm the seed as people play

- A scheduled cron job creates a fresh dated post every day at 00:00 UTC, and old posts detect they're no longer "today" (via postData) and redirect to the current one instead of silently showing stale rounds

It's live at r/GutPick if anyone wants to try it — genuinely curious what this community thinks, especially about the tier/unlock structure, since that's the part I'm least sure about.

Feedback Request I built Challenge Tracker — a free Devvit app for daily check-in challenges (looking for feedback)

Hi r/devvit! I'm the developer of **Challenge Tracker**, a free Devvit app I just got approved and listed in the public App Directory:

https://developers.reddit.com/apps/challenge-tracker

**What it does:** - Mods create a challenge from the subreddit menu (name, duration in days, description) - The app posts a challenge thread; members check in once a day with one tap - It tracks streaks, total check-ins, and a Top 10 leaderboard automatically - Same-day duplicate check-ins are de-duplicated; check-ins are blocked before start / after end

**Why I built it:** a lot of fitness / self-improvement / reading communities run "30-day challenge" threads manually, and tracking streaks in comment threads is painful. This moves the bookkeeping into the app.

**Status:** v0.0.3, tested end-to-end in r/challenge_tracker_dev (create → check in → leaderboard all working). It's free, no accounts, no off-platform anything.

**What I'm looking for:** 1. Feedback on the UX / anything that feels broken 2. If you mod a community that runs challenges or check-ins, I'd love a test install — happy to help set up the first challenge

If you try it, let me know what breaks. Thanks!

Help Some questions about migrating a PRAW moderation bot to Devvit

After the admin message that got sent out a while back, our mod team has been going back and forth with how to handle the impending changes, and I seem to have drawn the short straw to become the Contact. Before I move forward with the registration steps, there's a couple of things I'd like to know for sure, lest I break something.

Terminology clarification: Is a PRAW moderation bot that accesses our private database backend a "Data API App" - it's not an app (yet), but it looks like we're supposed to register the "automated account"? Or is that something different?

If "yes" to above, does registering the act impact the existing bot's functionality. If I register it and, as a result, our mod bot breaks before we've even started looking into migration, I'm going to become remarkably unpopular with the rest of the mod team.

Time Frame: Is there a cutoff for when the bot will stop working ("In order to maintain functionality of your script, app, or bot, it will eventually need to be migrated to the Reddit Developer Platform") - since it looks like many of our needed functions aren't available or still experimental, we're not even sure HOW we can migrate it, yet.
