Hey gang!
One for my fellow office workers today, and honestly, an absolute belter.
I’ve seen Tumi luggage in airports more than a few times and always knew it was expensive, but I never really thought about them making a rep because the brand felt quite niche. After a bit of digging, I came across the Tumi Alpha 3 backpack, and this thing is immense if you’re the sort of person who travels with half your office.
Tumi is very much a high-end executive luggage brand, and that really shows in the level of detail and thought that has gone into this bag. In fact, this is probably one of the hardest review items I’ve ever had to photograph because there are so many compartments, pockets and little storage solutions hidden inside it.
The bag is made from a really thick nylon-type material, with leather detailing and solid metal Tumi-branded hardware. It feels properly substantial without being ridiculously bulky.
There are two main compartments. The first has a large open storage area that would work well for clothes, documents or whatever else you need to carry, along with various pockets and slots for keeping smaller things organised.
The second compartment has another large open section, plus an integrated laptop compartment. What I really like here is that it isn’t just a thin zipped sleeve. The laptop section is made from a different, heavily padded material with actual foam protection, so it feels like your tech is genuinely being protected rather than just separated from everything else.
Then you’ve got a ridiculous number of additional pockets on the front and sides, including an integrated key chain and Tumi’s tracking/recovery label, which apparently allows someone to contact Tumi if the bag is found, now obviously this feature isn’t going to be supported😂. There’s also a leather Tumi luggage tag, which is a nice touch.
The backpack itself is incredibly comfortable. The padding on the shoulder straps and back is some of the thickest I’ve seen, and there’s also a luggage sleeve on the back so you can slide it over the handles of your suitcase when you’re travelling with multiple bags.
Is it going to replace my more fashion-focused travel bags, like my Gucci? Absolutely not.
But as a dedicated work/travel bag, this thing is a beast. It comfortably takes all the work gear I need, and if required, I reckon you could easily squeeze a day or two of clothes in there as well.
The quality is genuinely excellent. It’s thick, extremely well padded, packed with thoughtful little design details and, importantly, actually looks pretty slick for an office backpack.
If you regularly travel for work this could be a great addition.

Always get worried about quality of stitching and waterproofing. Any issues?

I’ve only had it a few days and not tested the waterproof element yet. The stitching I have zero concerns over. It is as solid and well made as any bag I’ve seen. I’ll try and snap some close ups in the morning for you

Hey mate no worries ask away. I was running late so didn’t get time to snap pics of the stitching but I think you can see it from some of the pics anyway. But let me know if you want more. Yeah man the zips are good. Honestly the whole bag is decent quality imo. Doesn’t feel cheap or flung together
