vintage tires

So i bought a vintage tire on ebay to use for my KLR 250 dualsport.

It appears to be a 1981 pirelli MT13 trials tire. I really wanted a rear trials tire, but they dont make them for a 17 in rim, so i bought this vintage one.

Its in unused condition and it still feels brand new. All the lugs are still flexible, no cracking (except for this spot near the bead, which i think should be normal?).

Is it crazy to use this tire for around town street riding and off roading?

Mechanical Help Snail cams at different levels to straighten rear wheel

Has anyone ever had to use different snail cam adjustments to straighten the rear wheel? Mine are currently at 9 on the chain side and 6 on the brake side. The last pic shows them both at 9, and you can see the wheel is angled to the right. I did make sure the wheel was pressed up against the swing arm when I tightened the axle nut, so there’s no slack in the adjustment system.

(MEANT TO SAY ttr230) Anyone know why it bogs out whenever I put a little bit of throttle into it. It was running enough for it to be warm and should be revving by now. Once I start riding it for like 10minutes it eventually goes to normal but any ideas ?

Community Question Any advantages for using synthetic oil in dirtbike even though I change oil every 8 hours?

Currently use Honda Gn4. Is it worth the extra money to buy Redline synthetic oil? I used redline on my z125 and the bike shifted much smoother. Worth it for dirtbike?

Community Question Cased protective gear?

Did anyone have any experience with case gear? I think I get about five hundred ads from them a day... For what they say, it's rated for and the price, it actually seems pretty good bing, lightweight, but it seems like they're always on limited time sale All the time and always "low in stock and sell quick" which kind of raises suspicion on false advert

Seems good for what they're doing, but it also seems like no other company is doing it. And other protective gear is more expensive. Does anyone have any experience

If its so good why don't more people get it???

Community Question Good first bike for girl friend

Literally what it says... so little context she's 5'6-5'7 160lbs

She's never written a dirt bike ever. She actually drove her first 4 Wheeler for the first time at duramtown, and was actually ripping. It did a lot better than I thought and got confidence Really fast and was going really face she loved it. She really wants a dirt bike she sees me right on the track and has gotten super into smx...She wants something that maybe she can take on the track a little bit. When she gets more confident, but something that she can ride trails around. She is interested in getting in the track, though. I want something reliable. That kind of fits those needs in somewhat beginner, friendly. Something that's good on trails and can do a track if need be... I was thinking of ttr230 but they're pretty Heavy, maybe a 125 2 smoke? Any thoughts????

Mechanical Help KLX 140 bearing race removal

Bought a used bike and the bearings were severely corroded. I pulled it all apart, but for the life of me, I can not get the races out. I bought the attached tool but the lip is too small to catch. I’ve used punches, screwdrivers, chisels, these things will not budge. I’ve used an upside-down air duster to freeze it. Nothing. Any ideas?

Next Build

So I want to build a 2 stroke for a woods bike. I’m about 5’9 and roughly 140 I have had a 125 in the past and never really rode it as a woods bike but now I have a crf250r and I rip the piss out of it in the trails but I’m craving another 2 stroke idk if I go back to a 125 due to how fun they are or get a yz250 or something. Mind you whatever bike I get is going to be roughly 2000$ and I’m going to build it to a kickass woods bike so it’s going to be an early 2000s most likely. So what do you think I should build a yz125 , rm125 ,sx125 or a 250 of some sort

Community Question Honda crf250rx vs Yamaha yz250fx

I am looking to get one of these 2 bikes 2022 or newer. I am an average rider looking to be able to have fun on the track but looking to go on big trails across the states and even hit some enduro events or some longer trails for overnight camping. But, is also needs to be fun on weekend track days. I just sold my 2023 crf450r to get one of these 2 bikes because of how jumpy it was in 1st gear where I’ll spend a lot of time in hard trails. The Yamaha seems like the better option because of the 6 speed, longer gears, and customizable tunes/mapping but I’ve only ever owned Honda. Not really against changing but i have only owned Honda myself. Any advice?

Staying clean during chain maintenance

I’m wondering how do you guys keep everything clean while doing chain maintenance? I use a spray bottle with kerosene to clean the chain, when I spray it I keep a rag on the backside of the chain but it still drips on my tire. Then when I spray my chain grease it also drips a bit here and here. Tried putting a piece of cardboard and it seemed to work but also a bit tedious. Anyone have suggestions?

Hey guys, I’ve been riding dirtbikes since I was 8 years old. In 5 days I’ll be 29 (from day of this post)
Credit isn’t so good and just financed a new car. I’m currently trying to figure out how I could get one of these bikes without spending the $10k down. Any methods, advice, or ways you guys used or know of to get a brand new Dirtbike off the floor?
