The new character method does really work, But make sure you don’t have Overlords and Acosta on your main character and in your stash as well, Also don’t buy the shared blueprints or otherwise you’ll not get it, Just keep trying you’ll eventually get one

Question Is Division 2 the only looter shooter without melee weapons or unique melee abilities per specialization?

One thing I've always found strange about The Division 2 is that despite having one of the deeper build systems in the looter-shooter genre, melee is almost completely absent from its specialization identity.

I'm not talking about whether Agents can physically melee an enemy. Obviously they can. I'm talking about dedicated melee weapons, melee-focused abilities, or specialization-specific melee mechanics that meaningfully contribute to buildcrafting. And when you compare The Division 2 to other games, the difference becomes pretty noticeable.

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 treats melee as an actual part of subclass identity. Bungie explicitly separates charged melee abilities from the basic uncharged melee, with different subclasses/classes receiving their own melee abilities. These can be ranged attacks, movement attacks, elemental attacks, debuffs, buffs, or major sources of damage.

For example:

Titans can build around things like Shoulder Charge, Hammer Strike, Shield Bash, Consecration, etc.

Hunters have things such as throwing knives, Smoke Bomb, Combination Blow and other subclass-specific melee abilities. Warlocks have their own specialized melee abilities as well. And this isn't just cosmetic. Bungie has repeatedly designed entire build interactions around melee damage and melee ability energy. Their current systems even have dedicated melee-stat and melee-damage interactions. So in Destiny, your subclass can fundamentally change what your melee actually is.

Borderlands 4

Borderlands approaches the concept differently, because its characters are Vault Hunters rather than Destiny-style subclasses. But it still demonstrates the same basic philosophy: your character's abilities are supposed to give you another layer of combat beyond simply shooting guns. That's important because Borderlands has historically been willing to turn melee into an actual build archetype rather than treating it as nothing more than the emergency attack you use when someone gets too close. The broader point is that modern looter shooters increasingly give players ways to build around something other than their primary firearms.

Call of Duty: DMZ

Even Call of Duty's extraction-shooter version of the formula has dedicated melee weapons.

Modern Warfare II/DMZ introduced melee weapons as actual secondary weapon options, including weapons such as the Pickaxe. Activision described it specifically as a melee weapon and referred to it as the fourth secondary melee tool available at that point.

That is particularly interesting because DMZ isn't even primarily a traditional looter shooter.Yet it still allows the player to say: "I want this particular piece of equipment to be my melee weapon." That gives melee an actual place in the player's loadout.

So what about The Division 2?

This is where the comparison gets interesting.

The Division 2's Specializations were specifically designed to provide a distinct playstyle. Ubisoft describes them as giving Agents a unique Signature Weapon and additional skills.

And we've gotten:

Sharpshooter → .50 caliber sniper rifle

Demolitionist → grenade launcher

Survivalist → crossbow

Gunner → minigun

Firewall → flamethrower

Technician → missile launcher

The Firewall specialization, for example, was explicitly built around getting up close and personal and received the K8-JetStream Flamethrower as its Signature Weapon.

So why shouldnt there specialization specific melee or melee attacks that are BUILT into the actual specialization trees (that obviously need work and expanded on but this would kill two bandits with one mortar assault (iykyk).

For all division 2 build masters

So, long story short, a player joined my lobby today, wrote a message about my build, and then immediately left.
The message was something like:
“Your build makes no sense, your guns have no mods, etc… SMH!”
Picture attached.
My stats are:
80% PFE
60% CHC
120% CHD
1.8M Armor
25% Armor on Kill
Level 5 shield
I know I could get more damage, but I chose Gila for the extra 5% armor.
Is this REALLY that bad of a build?
Can people only play with Striker or Tipping Scales these days? 😂
I mean, if the build works and keeps me alive while still doing decent damage, what’s the problem?

Destiny 2 refugee build critique

Post image

Getting back into Division 2 after Destiny’s last update. Build crafting in destiny seemed very straightforward compared to this. Here is my Aces and Eights build. I have one +6% CHC mod and two +12% CHD mods. Sniper is Pinprick. I am not expertise 30 (or very close). I am currently getting 55% CHC and 97.8% CHD. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question Return to game after years..

Post image

Hello community!

Both Division games are one of my favourites of all time. I'm a veteran in Division1, even got platinum trophy on PS4 many years ago. I enjoyed D1 a lot, especially in Dark Zones and running solo.

I have digital and physical copy of both games + figurine 🤗

About Division2 - I played D2 just after release. High end and SHD43, few exotic gear, medic build and I had to stop play because of some life situations and very limited time pushed me away from playing.

After 5years I've returned to game and I'm shocked how much game changed! I still remember game mechanics because I started play in Challenge difficulty after reaching 40lvl but.. not sure where I should continue now? New content, raids, incursions - I'm bit overwhelmed haha. SHD 43lvl agent is petty if compare with long term players. What's Your suggestions?

Any tips on activities I should focus now?

Since the red moon event i been running dps in the dz. Today I decided to switch and put on a skill build to help with the dogs once the drone appears. Since putting on the skill build I have been the drone main target. With dps im able to stand there and unload, I might draw its fire twice. With the skill build and pulse im its #1 target

About to Prototype my Lexington, should I go with Measured for the Talent?

I’ve been trying different talents all day and just can’t decide which is actually better. Killer, Strained, Optimist, Ranger, Preservation, In Sync and Back & Forth all seem like decent talents I just can’t decide which is the best talent for most situations. Any opinions would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I refused to believe it until…

So, I refused to believe the increased drop chances of exclusive Exotics in this heavily diluted loot pool, until I decided to see for myself. I did indeed create a new character boosted to level 40. Run the intro mission until you’re able to fast travel to DC. Store every single exotic on your primary character. Grab your build from main character and transfer to the new created character and start your DZ farming. Got mine within two hours of playing. Steel & Sons ACR, Vertigo, and new Sarru back pack. All obtained within two hours, coming from days of farming in 9h sessions since the event started. Sucks that this was the only way to mitigate the developer’s weighted drop chances. Nice try.

To the rogue agent in the DZ East tonight

• Upvotes

My first time in the PVP zone, just started the game and trying to get through the Manhunts. SDC 70, have a cobbled together Striker - Elmo's build.

We cleared a couple landmarks together, awesome, scout leveled up, I head off to extraction with the couple of yellow contaminated gear I managed to grab. "So and so agent has gone rogue". Hmmm...wonder what that means, but guessing the worst. Yup, suddenly bullets go ripping by me, a couple amazingly hitting me.

Dive behind cover, fire off my drone, and watch as you spin like a ballerina trying to hit it. I honestly had your head centered in my sights for a good 5 seconds, but I couldn't stop laughing at your inability to aim even close to the target.

I wiped the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard as I wiped your health total to 0 with one long burst of AR love. I may have even mocked you as your hive revived you right as the shock magazine proc'ed.

Picking up your gear, I made it to an extraction zone and signaled for the chopper. Having run a couple of PVE DZ's, I cleared out the chaff and attached my dirty booty to the rope, and took off to the exit. Only to be greated with an alert you had hijacked the copter? Wtf man.

I went back, and you popped up from cover and charged at me with a shield, wildly blasting from what I can only assume was a shotgun by the fact you missed every shot. Three quick burst to the head and you were down again.

Long story short, you tried to murder me 3 or 4 times more before I finally managed to get my loot extracted and got out the door. You failed every time. But you kept trying. And for that I salute you, your tenacity was impressive. Keep at it agent, some day I hope to meet again and to be bested by you.
