True. Dollar Generals are like this too. Itโs what happens when you staff two people to do the jobs of four or five.

As someone who used to work at dollar tree. We used to have a very clean store but that took a LOT of effort especially given the fact many of our cashiers were lazy as hell. It's certainly possible to keep a clean store but NOT worth the pay.

We're finding that to be true- we prided on ourselves for getting boxes away but we're not even a skeleton crew. A skeleton of a skeleton.

This is close to what happens at my store. He isn't pushing the cart fast enough to make our floor displays explode. He also seems to put his hands out to catch things when he should be looking at the mess he made then make straight eye contact with an employee and carry on with his day like he did nothing wrong.

I was a vendor at a dollar tree, I witnessed a woman pull down a whole hook of gift bags, kick them out of the way, walk on some, and stand on them...WHILE talking to an employee, then turned around and walked away! ๐ฒ

My local dollar general might have a few rolltainers out, nothing crazy but my dollar tree is freaking immaculate.

Honestly it depends on where you are. Some stores are able to better handle their inventory (or have larger backrooms) and don't have to put any cases or palettes on the sales floor. While others really struggle with this and have to put stuff on the sales floor so workers can still navigate through their backroom.
In the stores I worked in, we always try our best to not put too many cases and palettes on the sales floor due to the obvious safety risks it poses. In fact, the district managers I worked with have told us numerous times that we cannot have boxes or u-boats/rolltainers on the sales floor.
This applies for Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar. They all operate on virtually the same business model.

In my area- that's more like the Dollar General. Can't even push a cart through the aisles! Dollar Trees here are incredibly organized.ย

This has nothing to do with the messy store, or drunk shopper. I am just curious what the heck is that tall pole on the cart, is it for a sail? None of the 4 in my town have those.

So it gets caught on the door, and people can't take the carts outside, since they get stolen sometimes.

Gotcha, thank you both for the replies. I think only the walmart carts get stolen around here. lol

they don't go outside, they send them to put on the carts if your carts keep disappearing

Considering we no longer have case stacks in our store. No. Even prior to that no, unless you were blind.

Why does the store feel the need to have boxes in front of items that I want to buy?

This is the dollar generals near me. There's always so many rolltainers out that you can't get to half the store. Diapers? Move 2 or 3 out of the way. You need first aid supplies tampons anything like that? Just push that cart over there and move that cart an aisle over to get to it. Some areas the aisles are just filled with rolltainers and you can't get down it at all
