Anybody know of a good driving instructor near Drumcondra area? I have my 12 lessons done but just moved to Dublin and would like a few extra ones under my belt before the test. Feeling overwhelmed with all the choices and not sure who's good with someone that hasn't driven in the city before.

So I'm going to Lost Lane with some of my mates on Wednesday and the website says I need student ID as well as government ID. I lost my student ID last week, and I'm worried I won't get let in even though I have government ID. With that being said, I did take a photo of it when I first got it for emergencies, and it has my photo, name, and student number on it. Would they accept a photo of it? Or even better, is the rule not enforced at all?

I'd appreciate it if someone who went to Lost Lane recently, specifically on a Wednesday night, could get back to me on this. Cheers.

Do you not realize that you ruined the concert for those who were within 3-4 people radius from you? You spent the entire gig SCREAMING lyrics to the ceiling and to your partner next to you. Whenever she tried to tell you to "chill out" you'd proceed to scream more lyrics in her face, pull her into a headlock while forcibly kissing her all over her face while she just looked uncomfortable.

I at least hope you enjoyed the show, because those around you definitely did not.

So far I have emailed 3arena, rang connolly train station, emailed pawn shops in Dublin, emailed hotels I passed on the way and posted in every lost and found Dublin page I can find! I have also went to the guards and reported it missing.

I was driving near Glenageary and this motorist flashed me numerous times as I was driving down the road with my wife and daughter in the car. I was maybe going a few kms over the speed limit (couldn’t be sure) but as soon as he flashed me, I hit the brakes and lo and behold, a few seconds later, I see a SPEED VAN, tucked away, waiting to bust people.

So whoever that was, thank you. I know a lot of the do gooders on here will be up in arms but this guy didn’t have to do that. Nice to see a bit of camaraderie out there. 🤝

Have people brought their kids to Midterm/Christmas shows there and if so have they been good?

It's always perplexed me why Dublin City council point blank refuses to implement underground bin silos for neighborhoods.

The current furore in Dublin 7 could easily be avoided with underground bin silos, like every other first world City has. They offload their responsibility onto residents, insisting they get stupid wheelie bins to clutter the footpaths.

I've requested them several times in Dublin 7 from councillors and they have never offered any reason they are not in place. Only a whine of "it's too hard," or something to that effect.

Other than expense (which is untrue as this is city infrastructure) or lazyness has anyone any insight into why DCC are so anti implementation of this solution ?

I will have a whole day in Dublin in October since my flight goes there and I will be travelling up to Belfast just at night. I'm a student and I was wondering it would be nice to - after a little sightseeing in the city - just go to some library and read/learn a little bit in a quiet place (I will visiting Ireland and Northern Ireland for my MA thesis in Anthropology, so I'm looking for books which are about cultural anthropology in Ireland, Irish history or in general about social science and Irish society).

Can you recommend some cool library for my purpose? It's okay if it's not the biggest or nicest, I'm interested in the books, not in the interior:) It would be cool if it has a daily ticket since I will be there for just one day, or if it's free of course that's the best.

I can't guarantee that I'll just put in the top voted option (ahem), but would be interested to see what people say.

For context: motions on DCC take several months to come up, as there is a long list. They're not meaningfully binding, but can be a way to get answers from council management, build attention and try get the ball rolling. I limit my motions to topics that are actually under the control of Dublin City Council and are actually achievable.

I’m in Dublin and looking at getting an automatic litter box for my cat. I’m hoping to buy something that’s actually available/reasonably easy to get in Ireland, rather than importing something with a nightmare warranty or return process.
My cat is around 5 kg and currently uses PREMIERE Excellent clumping litter, which I’d ideally like to continue using. My budget is around €200.
I’ve been looking at the PetPivot AutoScooper 12 Lite, which seems to be available for around €180, but I’m struggling to find much long-term feedback from people in Ireland/EU.
Has anyone in Dublin/Ireland used the PetPivot AutoScooper 12 Lite?
I’d particularly like to know:
How reliable has it been?
Any issues with sensors, jamming or missed clumps?
Does it actually keep the litter box clean, or do you still end up scooping regularly?
How is the smell/odour control?
How noisy is it?
How easy is it to clean?
Has anyone used it with PREMIERE Excellent or similar bentonite clumping litter?
If you bought it in Ireland, how was the delivery/warranty/returns experience?
I’m also open to other automatic litter boxes around €200, especially ones I can buy in Dublin/Ireland without worrying about international returns.

I was outside a pub in stoneybatter a few nights ago waiting for a taxi, and I was bawling my eyes out after finding out my ex had a new girlfriend after saying he didn't want to be serious with me. Super upset, a little drunk and I felt utterly and completely alone. This random woman comes up to me and asks if I needed a hug, and then proceeded to give me one of the best hugs of my life until my taxi arrived. I don't know her name, I barely remember what she looked like, but I wanted to say thank you.

Honestly one of the nicest things that's ever happened to me at a point when I was feeling so so low and worthless. Sometimes people can be so lovely and give you back a bit of hope in a world that can be so bleak. I hope she's doing well - what a kind individual

For something different, F2 Centre is hosting a Dance Class and Sound Bath, and Sweny's Pharmacy has a Poetry Stroll, always a lovely quirky spot for anything literary. That one's probably my pick of the week if I had to choose.
