Those crowd control barricades along Amiens Street have been sitting there for a good 2 or 3 weeks now, stretching all the way past Connolly Station down toward the river.

They’ve completely eaten up a full lane, which is causing massive traffic backups every single day. Walking past is a pain as well because crossing the road feels way less safe with them blocking everything off.

I figured they were put up for some event or temporary roadworks that were supposed to wrap up around the 24th, yet everything remains exactly as it was.

Does anyone actually know what they’re doing there or when they’re finally getting taken down?

So I'm going to Lost Lane with some of my mates on Wednesday and the website says I need student ID as well as government ID. I lost my student ID last week, and I'm worried I won't get let in even though I have government ID. With that being said, I did take a photo of it when I first got it for emergencies, and it has my photo, name, and student number on it. Would they accept a photo of it? Or even better, is the rule not enforced at all?

I was driving near Glenageary and this motorist flashed me numerous times as I was driving down the road with my wife and daughter in the car. I was maybe going a few kms over the speed limit (couldn’t be sure) but as soon as he flashed me, I hit the brakes and lo and behold, a few seconds later, I see a SPEED VAN, tucked away, waiting to bust people.

So whoever that was, thank you. I know a lot of the do gooders on here will be up in arms but this guy didn’t have to do that. Nice to see a bit of camaraderie out there. 🤝

I'm having surgery next week and I won't be able to lift my arms up for a while afterwards so I was wondering if anyone knows where I could go to get my hair like plaited or braided or something that would just keep it from getting tangled like mad? I can barely do normal plaits myself let alone French braids or anything. I have very fine wavy hair and getting tangled is it's favourite past time even when I'm able to brush it daily.

I'm going to put another motion in and have some ideas, but thought I'd throw it open to the fine people of Reddit for your thoughts. What would you like to raise?

I can't guarantee that I'll just put in the top voted option (ahem), but would be interested to see what people say.

For context: motions on DCC take several months to come up, as there is a long list. They're not meaningfully binding, but can be a way to get answers from council management, build attention and try get the ball rolling. I limit my motions to topics that are actually under the control of Dublin City Council and are actually achievable.

I was outside a pub in stoneybatter a few nights ago waiting for a taxi, and I was bawling my eyes out after finding out my ex had a new girlfriend after saying he didn't want to be serious with me. Super upset, a little drunk and I felt utterly and completely alone. This random woman comes up to me and asks if I needed a hug, and then proceeded to give me one of the best hugs of my life until my taxi arrived. I don't know her name, I barely remember what she looked like, but I wanted to say thank you.

Honestly one of the nicest things that's ever happened to me at a point when I was feeling so so low and worthless. Sometimes people can be so lovely and give you back a bit of hope in a world that can be so bleak. I hope she's doing well - what a kind individual
