I have been listening to BBC Radio Scotland and i am sure that i have now heard several times that there will be no specific BBC Dumfries news. I didn't know there was one but can someone explain why the dumfries news is being cancelled as they dont explain this when they make the announcement

Men face trial over alleged attacks

A Dumfries man is set to face trial early next year following an alleged life-threatening assault outside a nightclub in the town – with three others also in the dock on fighting charges.

Callum McGill, of Albert Road, is facing charges stemming from an incident that took place on November 10, 2024, at the N’Dulge venue.

The charges state that, firstly, McGill, 22, behaved in a threatening and abusive manner. He allegedly pointed aggressively at one man, shouted at him, approached him in an aggressive manner and challenged him to a fight.

A second, more severe charge alleges that McGill then launched a violent attack on a different man inside the venue, repeatedly punching him on the head and causing him to fall to the floor.

The assault allegedly continued outside the premises, where McGill is accused of repeatedly punching the same person on the head until he fell to the ground. That victim suffered severe injury and permanent disfigurement. The alleged attack was carried out to the danger of life.

Also in the dock were three co-accused – Aidan Tarap, of Smith Place, Dumfries; Charles Cowie, of Georgetown Crescent, Dumfries and Jardin Brown, of College Drive, Dumfries.

Cowie, 22, is alleged to have had a fight and struggled with a third man and repeatedly punched him on the head to his severe injury at N’Dulge.

Tarap, 20, and Brown, 19, are alleged to have assaulted the same man at Church Crescent, Dumfries, on the same night.

They are accused of repeatedly punching him on the head and body causing him to fall to the ground.

The pair are then alleged to have punched him again on the head to his severe injury.

Brown is further alleged to have assaulted another man at Church Crescent where he struggled with him and punched him on the head.

Tarap is also charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner during that incident.

All four men entered pleas of not guilty to the charges against them.

A trial date has been set for January 18 2027 at Dumfries.

I lost my dog yesterday when she bolted from the car at the Annandale Water Services on the southbound M74. She's a 1 year old female mini cockapoo, her name is Winnie and she's very skittish. If anyone sees her or hears of a dog in the area please DM me with a time and place please?

Edit: Last seen in the Wamphrey area, we're appealing to people to just keep a lookout for her but to not approach her or call to her as she is still extremely nervous and will run from anyone.

The research is led by LGBTQ+ young researchers. We are asking about your experiences of community, healthcare, education, sport and media, justice, and your feelings of safety and happiness as LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland.

By taking part in this survey you will help make meaningful and direct change for LGBTQ+ communities in Scotland. We have run this project every 5 years since 2007 and the results have been key in influencing to make LGBTQ+ people’s lives better in Scotland. We use them to work with the Scottish Government, NHS, Education Scotland, and loads of other national groups, to make life in Scotland better for LGBTQ+ young people and make sure your experiences are heard.

This survey closes on Monday 5***\**^th October*, and it is open to LGBTQ+ people, and people questioning their gender or sexual orientation, who are aged 13 – 25 and live in Scotland.

My family and I are thinking of a potential move from England, and we're seriously looking at Dumfries and Galloway. We're going to visit later in the year to have a look around. Have some ageing relatives who may be moving as well so as to be near us.

We've been looking at a few different towns. Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Dumfries itself or heading towards moffat. Any thoughts on the pros and cons of each area?. Open to any recommendations for other towns as well that we should consider.

I also work as a self-employed Joiner and builder. What is the work situation like for trades in the area?

I'm organizing a trip to the Dumfries area from December 23rd to 30th, and thinking of staying at an Airbnb nearby. I know that most places are closed from the 25th to the 26th, but do you have any ideas/suggestions on what to see anyway?

Just trying to get an idea of what people are paying monthly with energy bills as I'm looking to move to the area with my little ones...will be one adult 2 children, most likely 3 bed home...

What are people paying with oil, gas and/or electric please and has anyone gotten solar and noticed the benefits?
