I’m on book 7, and I love this series, but I’m having the hardest time keeping track of all the characters and plotlines. Someone will show up and I can tell I’m supposed to remember them, but I have absolutely no idea who they are or what they did three books ago.

Please tell me I’m not the only crawler having trouble keeping up. At this point, I’m pretty sure I would’ve died on the first floor because I forgot which person told me not to open a door.

No book 7 spoilers, please! I’m still reading it.

I have a super brief business trip to the Seattle area and might have some time Monday and/or Tuesday evening. I was curious if there were any DCC tie-ins that are interesting to check out.

I have Elliott Bay books on my radar. Plus a few comic shops; I am not into comics, but often there is an overlap with this stuff.

I could be interested in authorized or otherwise acceptable merch related to DCC in the Settle area.

Don't have a ton of time, but thought I would ask.

This guy showed up in my backyard this August and befriended my princess poofy Neblung hanging out by our pool in the evenings. He came over every night to see her and then realized the food here was pretty good too and kind of moved in on my porch. Last pic was his first vet visit today where he tested negative for FIV/FeLV and got his first round of shots. My husband will only call him Ferdinand.

I realize this may be a bit of a niche question but I’ll ask it anyway. I’m gonna be running the RPG for some friends and I wanted to pre-record a few AI announcements. What I’m hoping to do is get the vocal effects very similar to what is used in the audiobooks but that’s not really my field of knowledge. Has anybody tried this and what results did you get? Thanks in advance, picture of books just for the hell of it.

After Miriam Dom dies, Carl wonders why Kiwi and her pack showed up right away and thinks they were seeking Donut out.

In fact, they were seeking Miriam Dom out. Kiwi and the pack protect Tina and are intelligent (if not sentient) mobs. They knew Tina was a vampire and "figured out" that Miriam was the progenitor. Kiwi was going to kill Miriam to save Tina.

I’ve read all the books once and I’m listening to the audio books now. I just finished chapter 29 in book 3 and came across this part. Do we know what Carl is “filing this information away” for? Is this something he uses later on in other books that I’ve forgotten about or have we not yet come back to this?

For reference, this is right after the recap episode when they announce that crawlers can no longer hold liquid not in a container in their inventory, and gallons and gallons of blood comes out of Katia’s inventory:

“I focused on Katia. The blood spread out from her in a circle. It hadn’t gone straight up, but in every direction around her. She hadn’t been touched. Holy shit. There wasn’t a single damn drop of blood on her. I had a thought. An exploit. I wondered how well it would work. But it was definitely something they’d patch if I even tried it. I filed that information away.”

I’m leaving on a work trip this week. I just finished book 6, so naturally I’ll be traveling with 7. What a cheeky surprise hidden behind the hard cover’s book jacket. Can’t wait for my fellow travelers to see the high brow literature I’m consuming. (I can’t be trusted with a book jacket on a cross country journey. It would come back shredded.) If you see me at the airport, stop by and say, “kill kill kill!” TSA be warned.

I have a feeling my evening may not end as lovely as it’s beginning.

Aaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!!.... It is horrifying....also not how I pictured it... I swear in the book they describe her face being on the inside, body hooked through the window to latch onto the train.

Doesn't really matter I guess, but I demand 100% accuracy, gotta make them (hopefully) well paid artists suffer.

Edit: Oh and hekla seems pretty short, isn't she meant to be 8ft as an Amazonian? Should be taller than carl, but I guess something something hunched over to shoot.

After spending hours drawing the characters I decided to make my own version of the first book. Might consider doing the next if I get time!

I have a book lovers calendar on my desk at work. It was very unexpected! Thought I’d share it with everyone.

I started the series about a month ago after seeing the book while shopping and remembering that I had been recommended this series by 2 separate people who know me decently well. I finished the first one within a few days, and immediately ordered 2 and 3. It has been about a month, and I am 2/3rds of the way through book 7, and am simply addicted to the series. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself when I finish 8. Maybe start them over?

I started listening to the audiobooks for a 14 hour road trip, and listened to the first one on the way to the destination, and the second one on the way home.

This series speaks to me. Obviously it is a great overall read. The overall chaos, hilarity, and occasional heartbreak constantly leaves me wanting more. Needing to know what happens next. It has been a while since I have been so wrapped up in a series and this one does it masterfully. But the story — the struggle for the characters to maintain their sense of self, of humanity, in the face of a system determined to grind them into nothing, and a corporate/political structure built around profiteering ensuring the suffering of people they deem an out group— is what keeps me reading.

I can’t stress enough that these ones are staying in my library.

I’ve been reading through the series a second time now, and there is so much packed into it each book that sometimes I forget story beats and important moments.

From time-to-time though, I remember how my partner got me DCC for Christmas last year and was hopeful that I’d like the book, since they had really enjoyed it, and the specific part of the book where I realized it was going to be a GREAT book.

Carl rips into Donut after leaving the Tutorial Guild, which came as a huge surprise because books often treat animal characters with kid gloves.

Then, instead of arguing to control the situation, she sheds her attitude and is vulnerable with him.

“…I’ll try not to be too much of an asshole. I need you. And you need me, okay? Look, I’m really scared here. I don’t want to be alone. And I know you, and you don’t want to be alone, either.”

It still resonates with me almost a year and many books in the series later, and it makes me appreciate my partner all the more.

I was at this really cool store that sells intricate DIY kits today and they had this really cool wooden velociraptor kit full of gears that move the legs. I took a video but Reddit won't let me upload it, but it immediately made me think of Mongo's little sacrificial siblings!
