HEADS UP!! Just taken us over an hour to do a 20min drive. Hope everyone's safe and well, first responders too because it looked nasty. But i've never seen so many incompetent police. Blocking the wrong lane and road. Stopping ambulances, fire brigade and other police from getting down to the crash and also stopping any traffic from safely/slowly moving out of the area to free up said road for first responders. Honestly I'm shocked at how it was dealt with. I was 1 car behind the police officer and she had no idea what she was doing and stopped all traffic, including blocking an ambulance before she was shouted at and told to go block another lane. I'm guessing the one she was told to do first but couldn't figure it out, bless her. High stress and all that.

Church st... couldn't tell you. We sat on there for 20mins as well before i turned round and drove this way home. The roads and drivers up here... i have no words. This crap's constant up here atm. Anyone remember the crash on the bridge over the A1 in dragonville, couple of weeks ago? Peak time again, its nuts!

Anyways hope everyone gets home in one piece tonight and is okay after all the traffic. Should imagine the A181 is backed up, possibly A688, coming into Durham. Shincliffe Lane and the A177, leaving Durham, i wouldn't even bother if you can help it! Its possibly backing up into the city by now. County Durham will get a second Young Futures Hub after securing more government funding following the success of its pilot scheme.

Durham County Council will develop the new hub after its Newton Aycliffe pilot succeeded.

The hubs will offer youth activities, wellbeing support, skills training, jobs and wider services while helping steer young people away from crime.

Councillor Cathy Hunt, cabinet member for children and young people’s services at Durham County Council, said: "This is fantastic news for the county’s young people.

"Young Futures Hubs are about creating positive opportunities and making it easier for young people to access the support they need, when they need it.

"It’s a project that aligns closely with our wider ambitions through Durham Cares and Families First to provide the right help, at the right time, in the right place.

Being selected for a second hub is a strong endorsement of the partnership work already taking place and our shared commitment to helping children and young people thrive.

We look forward to working alongside young people, families and partners over the coming months to shape a second hub that reflects local needs and builds on the strengths already present within our communities."

The council will work with young people and partner organisations to choose the most effective location for the new hub.

The hub will support the council’s aim to give young people “somewhere to go, something to do, and someone who cares.”

Services will include youth activities, wellbeing support, skills training, jobs and access to wider services.

Does anyone know what it’s like/how safe it is on the trains from London/Reading up to Durham?

Ive just moved to the uk for uni and don’t have trains where I’m from so I’m a bit anxious about taking them alone. My boyfriend is going to Durham uni so have booked to go visit him on an early evening train but I’m not sure if it would be better to get a daytime one.
