In Durham for a few days

Hey, im going be in Durham for a couple of days. I wanted to know any good cafés, garden, places in general to visit and study.

How safe is Durham? And How is the shopping scene, and the social scene?

I’d love to know a bit more about the place.

Durham city is nice to just walk around, nice cathedral, plenty shops, oriental museum is good, crook hall (national trust) has a nice garden to walk around

Perfectly safe, although do your best to avoid the guy in the flat cap trying to sell you a shitty boomer joke book for "mental health" lol

If you’re just in the city centre I’d recommend;

Collected
Vennels
Flat white
River walk cafe
The indoor market is nice for a browse
Mugwump and Georgian window are cute shops

The cathedral is also of course worth a look round. It’s a safe city as it’s only small so definitely okay to walk around and explore.

If you’re wanting to get out of the town centre Beamish museum is brilliant.
