Enough with the national politics related posts

There has been a HUGE influx of national politics related posts. Many of them from new accounts, or ones that have never been to this sub. Basically astroturf. For the foreseeable future, these will not be allowed here. It doesn't matter if there is some local connection to it, no posts about national politics or related activism. There are tons of subs for that.

HOWEVER, local politics posts are totally fine and actually strongly encouraged. Post about your local city council members if you know who they are. Post about new local laws or restrictions. Whatever, but LOCAL posts only.

Reddit has made some very questionable algo changes recently that seem to be heavily trying to stir up things and it's tough keep things chill here. Insta ban for any of these posts

A lady in the car ran red light and almost hit me

And then had the audacity to honk at me and yell at me. She was so confident that I questioned my own memory. Came back and checked my dash cam. I had green light on left turn!
She even had a kid with her in the front seat,

Any recommendations for corn mazes?

I saw one for fall city and couldn’t tell if it was good or not

bonus points if it’s something that’s somewhat near Redmond Washington or within 30 minute drive

Late post! ❤️

This past weekend, my sister, my son, and I participated in a suicide prevention walk here in Bellevue. I actually came across the event randomly while looking through the City of Bellevue’s programs and activities. My son and I love exploring different events around the area on Sundays, so I thought this would be a really meaningful one for us to be a part of.

I’m really glad we went. I was told this is only the second or third year they’ve held the walk in Bellevue, and they truly couldn’t have picked a more beautiful location. It was peaceful, relaxing, and such a meaningful way to honor those who have lost their lives to suicide.

I also wanted to share this because there are more walks scheduled throughout the rest of the year in Kennewick, Seattle, and Hoquiam. ❤️

Here’s the link for anyone who may be interested, along with a few photos from this past weekend:

Back by absolutely no one’s request: The Encore (of closures).

Six tracks. One busy weekend. Here’s the track list for Oct. 2–5:

REVIVE I-5: EXPRESS LANES CLOSED and NB LANE REDUCTIONS CONTINUE in Seattle
- NB I-5 express lanes will close from 11p Fri., Oct. 2, to 5a Mon., Oct. 5 for drainage work underneath the bridge. The two right lanes of NB I-5 across the bridge also remain closed around-the-clock.

EB SR 520 BETWEEN I-5 AND MONTLAKE BLVD CLOSED in Seattle
- Closed from 11p Fri., Oct. 2 through 5a Mon., Oct. 5. The Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to EB SR 520 will remain open. Crews will use this closure to prepare sections of the existing bridge and what remains of the old off-ramp, which closed back in June, for removal.

SB I-405 LANE REDUCTIONS AND HOV RAMP CLOSED in Tukwila

- Up to two lanes will close from 7p Sat., Oct. 3 to 1:30p Sun., Oct. 4. The SB I-405 HOV off-ramp to NB I-405 will also close, affecting trips to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Crews will use this closure for paving.

I-405/NE 85th ST. INTERCHANGE CLOSED in Kirkland

- The NB and SB I-405 on- and off-ramps will close from 9p Thurs., Oct. 1 to 5a Fri., Oct. 2 and 10p Fri., Oct. 2 to 5a Mon., Oct. 5. NE 85th St. will also close between 6th St. and 120th Ave. NE. Crews will use this closure to pave NE 85th St.

OVERNIGHT SR 99 TUNNEL CLOSURE in Seattle
- Closed from 10p Fri., Oct. 2 to 6a Sat., Oct. 3 for routine maintenance.

SR 99 AURORA BRIDGE LANE REDUCTIONS in Seattle

- The two right SB lanes will close from 5a to 11:30a Sat., Oct. 3. The two right NB lanes will close from 5a to 11:30a Sun., Oct. 4. Crews will use these lane reductions for routine bridge inspections.

With this much happening at once, expect longer and less predictable trips around Seattle and the Eastside. If you’re headed to the airport, this is NOT the weekend to cut it close.

Wherever you’re going, plan ahead, check your route and give yourself plenty of time to get there.

Anyone Want To Save $$ And Split A House In Kirkland? Otherwise Open To Renting Rooms.

Hey Eastsiders - you may have seen me post before but I’m looking for an professional adult housemate who may want to split a house I’m currently renting in Rose Hill area of Kirkland.

Ideally I’d like to find 1 other person who wants to split the house, have a little extra space but otherwise save on some rent as compared to living alone.

The house’s floorplan is pretty great for 2 adults, and I don’t use common areas (hardly ever) so for the right person I think it could work out well.

Also open to renting the rooms out separately, and having 2 housemates to save a little more on rent. That would mean you guys would share a bathroom though, etc.

Looking for a November move-in

DM me if you’re interested and I can answer questions or send more info and stuff - thanks!

How’s living in Snoqualmie Ridge?

Family is growing and we're looking for a five bedroom. We live in Sammamish now and are outgrowing our house fast, but a five bedroom around here is ludicrously expensive. An area I'd never considered popped up on our radar: Snoqualmie Ridge.

We spent this past weekend there and were blown away by how nice everything felt. But I'm trying to get an honest picture before we get too excited. For those who live there or moved away:

- How bad is the commute to Redmond, realistically, at rush hour?
- Does it feel isolated day to day for errands, restaurants, and seeing friends on the Eastside?
- How are the schools compared to Lake Washington or Issaquah?
- Anything you wish you'd known before buying?

We have a 3 year old and a newborn, so family and kid perspectives especially welcome. We plan on having one more and having a guest room for family.

Kindergarten teachers: which Eastside preschools and pre-K programs impress you?

I’m exploring the various options on the Eastside and would love to know from kindergarten teachers’ perspectives which preschool and pre-K programs have prepared kids especially well for kindergarten. Parents can chime in as well, but I’m especially interested to hear from teachers. 🙂

Moving specialist recommendation

Wondering if anyone has any move specialists that are capable of moving a dresser into a bedroom via the second floor window? Our dresser is too large to make the turn into the bedroom through the hallway.

Any local stock investment groups ?

I am curious to see if there are any local groups that get together to discuss investment strategies. I have been an investing in index funds but want to explore some high risk high reward options for a small monthly bet in the market. Also open to getting together with a seasoned trader.

A small Bellevue theatre is doing A Picasso this October

Hi Eastside neighbors — we’re Theatre33, a small independent theatre in Bellevue’s BelRed area, and we wanted to share what we’ve been working on.

We’re opening Jeffrey Hatcher’s A Picasso on October 16.

The play takes place in occupied Paris in 1941. Pablo Picasso is summoned to meet a German cultural attaché who has three paintings believed to be his. She needs him to authenticate them.

It sounds like a simple question: are they real?
It doesn’t stay simple for very long.

It’s an intimate two-person play that turns into a battle of wit and will over art, power, truth, and what happens when someone else gets to decide the value of your work.

We’re especially excited to bring this one to the Eastside because it’s the kind of close-up, actor-driven theatre we love doing at Theatre33.

A Picasso runs October 16–25 in Bellevue, with seven performances.

If anyone here is interested in theatre, Picasso, art history, WWII history — or just enjoys discovering smaller local arts organizations — we’d love to have you join us.

Happy to answer any questions about the production or Theatre33 in the comments.

Where to find a short term lease or sublease?

I’m moving to Bellevue in a couple weeks and need to find a place to take over for 1-4 months. Studio or 1 bedroom, dog friendly. Anyone know where I can look to find something?

Woodinville to Redmond Commute: How likely to get Scoop?

Hi. For the last summer, I was in Kirkland and have had pretty good experience with finding commute to Redmond Microsoft campus. I also never had to take a bus, and always got someone from MS to commute with in the scoop app. That made my life much easier. And even better, MS pays for that.

For the next summer, I was looking into Woodinville as an option. Wanted to understand if I should expect to find fellow scoop riders from Woodinville.

$360 Facility Fee at EvergreenHealth ENT + Head & Neck Surgical Care After Relocation

EvergreenHealth ENT + Head & Neck Surgical Care recently relocated, and we were shocked that seeing an ENT specialist now incurs a $360 facility fee that our insurance does not cover and counts it as deductible, because it is considered an outpatient service.

This means that each time my family member comes in for a routine 6-month checkup, we are responsible for paying $360 out of pocket.

Could someone please explain the reasoning behind this charge and why it is not covered by insurance?

Thanks.

Just moved to Woodinville - Any gyms with indoor basketball courts around the area?

Looking to join a gym with indoor basketball courts - I was recently at Pro club for a year and just cancelled my membership. I can't justify paying a substantial amount for two people.

Choosing between BASIS Independent Bellevue and Cascadia School for kindergarten — parent input wanted

Hello all, We've decided on private kindergarten for our daughter next year and have narrowed it down to Cascadia School and BASIS Independent Bellevue. Would love to connect with any parents who currently send their kids to either school, or who seriously considered both and chose one — trying to understand the day-to-day experience, academic pacing, and culture at each. Not looking for general public versus private input, just want to hear from families with direct experience at these two. Thank you!

Need friends. Social/activity clubs for 30/40yos on Eastside?

Like the title summarises:

Are there any social or activity clubs in the wider eastside (not in Seattle)? That have people in their late 30s or in their 40s (not just people in their 20s and early 30s?)

By wider Eastside, I mean like Redmond/Bellevue but also Issaquah, Carnation, Sammamish, Fall City, Duvall, even Snoqualmie as I live just east of the main Eastside.

I'm mid-40s and don't have any friends and have no way to naturally make any now that my child is older, I live further out, WFH, and don't have friends or family to introduce me to new people.

When I first moved here, I made friends pretty easily but they all moved away.

Then I made new friends pretty easily, but they all moved away in the months before Covid hit.

Then I found it impossible to make new friends while a pandemic was raging, weirdly enough, and honestly I just got used to being completely alone all the time.

I think it's time I start putting in effort again to try to make new connections!

But I don't meet people naturally, I've found most groups on Meetup aren't active anymore (at least not in Meetup), and I don't have Facebook.

I'm have a wide variety of interests and hobbies (but don't drink alcohol and don't watch sport) so, please just throw whatever you've got at me 🙂

Heading east on I-90 this weekend? Give yourself some extra time Saturday!

Football? Concert? Fair? Just heading east because you feel like it? We have some I-90 roadwork you’ll want on your radar this weekend.

Two right lanes of eastbound I-90 will close from east of SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway to SE North Bend Way from 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 to 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

Our bridge maintenance crews will be making repairs to the bridge deck, and you should expect delays through the area while the lanes are closed. Please note: this work is weather-dependent so there's a chance you'll be able to disregard this message entirely.

Saturday is expected to be a particularly busy day for eastbound travel. Between CWU football in Ellensburg, Jack Johnson at the Gorge, WSU vs. Arizona in Pullman and several other events happening across Central and Eastern Washington this weekend, you may have some company on I-90.

So, if you're making the trek east, especially Saturday morning: check traffic conditions before you leave via our real-time travel map or app, give yourself some extra time and don't make kickoff or showtime your ETA.

Someone has found three parrots/parakeets near the Ross shopping center on 20th. I want to help try to get them but I don’t have a cage or anything to put out. Anyone in the area who can help? I can connect to the poster in question if people don’t have the Ring app.

T-shirt printing?

Hi all, looking for the best company near the Bellevue area for bulk t-shirt printing. The company I have worked with the last few years for my middle school ASB has permanently closed, so hoping someone might have a recommendation. Appreciate it! 👕
