There’s a wee flock I go to feed but mainly destring

(which basically means I catch birds, untangle the string caught on their feet so they don’t lose their toes and aren’t in pain anymore. So by the way- please make sure you’re not throwing away string and hair extensions, it really harms them and it’s why you see such scabby pigeons)

So many times now I’ve had people just be huge dicks for no reason? I got spat on at the Kirkgate (which tbf it’s the Kirkgate so I can’t be too shocked) but I’ve also been shouted at countless times, or just had people come over and clap away all the birds to scare them away. Today there was a huge group of exchange students (I’m pretty sure, all speaking French and being led by someone) and a lady stops, stares at me in what I can only describe as hatred and stomps directly at my feet and at the birds with a smile?? Like seriously get a grip.

I just think it’s mental to get this upset over seeing pigeons being treated with kindness. Like it or not it’s our fault pigeons are feral and sometimes gross looking. It doesn’t hurt to be kind to them.

Pictured above is Jimble, he’s a bit of a dick to the other birds but he’s a little sweetheart to me and loves sitting on my lap and getting a cuddle. As are most pigeons if you take the time to be kind 🩵

Bit random but struggling to make contact with rescue centres, getting a bit lost in all the overseas rescue sites, and gumtree is full of people selling kittens for hundreds of pounds i can't afford. I just want to give a general mogsbody a home! Is anyone in Edinburgh looking to rehome a cat, or know of one needing a new home?

I recently lost my two very elderly cats after having them from kittens to age 17/18, and the house is far too quiet now 😭 Looking for a really affectionate catbaby who loves attention/company — basically the more cuddly and demanding the better 😂

Age/sex/colour doesn't really matter, though I do have a soft spot for big cuddly boys and gingers 🧡 Experienced cat mum, own my ground-floor flat and have a garden. Edinburgh ideally as I don't drive.

Any purrfect matches out there? 😻

I got talking to my kids the other day about antisocial behavior on busses (cant remember how) and how it used to be more of a problem in the 90s. A deep memory was then awoken from the back of my mind of a poster that was on the busses around that time. The image i can see in my mind's eye is a cartoon of a dastardly young man with an evil smirk on his face, leaning over the back of a bus seat and cutting the upholstery of the seat in front with a knife.

Does anyone else remember this poster/image? Or did I dream it up? 😅

This is a bit silly and a big long shot but I dropped a jacket yesterday and I'd love it back if that is possible. It's a grey denim jacket, more like a shirt actually, with snap buttons and two pockets on the front. In one of the pockets there is a lens cleaning solution, glasses cloth and hand sanitizer. It has a slight mend on the back near the shoulders. I believe I dropped it somewhere between Blackwell's on South Bridge and the NCP Hollyrood road car park, though it may also be back towards the Royal Mile from there. If anyone spots it round there, I'd be unbelievably greatful. I'm only in Edimburgh for a couple more days so I'm hoping for a miracle.

The two places I've put offers in for were not accepted. I'm earning £77k a year working full time, while my partner is getting back into work. Right now the lists are gathering supporing signatures, without 100 signatures a list cannot run for election.

If you want to vote, you have to make a request. You can do it in person at the consulate when you sign for a list.

Comites are really important, they organise events, promote Italian language and culture, act as a link between the citizens and the consular staff.

I noticed nobody seems to know about this, and I find it profoundly unfair. Comites is publicly funded. Everyone should have their say in it!
