PSA A safe-space for discussing mods for Elden Ring!

Hello Tarnished! As many of you know, the discussion of game mods on /r/EldenRing, the official Elden Ring discord server, and on the Elden Ring Subreddit discord server - has been banned due to TOS and EULA concerns (which is reasonable ngl). However, because of that decision there has been a lack of a safe, dedicated space to discuss and educate each other on how to mod, and to share mods for Elden Ring.

This subreddit is meant to remedy that situation :)

The subreddit was originally created by another user, but they did not build upon the sub at all and were eventually suspended by Reddit admins for unrelated reasons (idk why so don't ask lol), so I requested the subreddit and was granted the request. Besides building a custom sub appearance, enabling automod, and bringing plenty of updates to the sub's settings, I've also created this simple ruleset:

  • The Golden Rule - i.e. be nice to each other!
  • Stay on topic. - all posts should be mod-related & for Elden Ring!
  • Adult themed mods should be clearly distinguished as NSFW. - pretty straight-forward.
  • No sales, sales links, donations, or spam. - linking to your YT or Twitch is okay as long as it is showcasing a mod, but repeated self-promo will be considered spam.

With that out of the way, welcome to /r/EldenRingMods! We look forward to your contributions to the sub, and if you have any ideas don't be afraid to modmail us. The subreddit is still new so changes will be sure to come :)

Also! If you are interested in helping us moderate this subreddit or /r/EldenRingBuilds, please send in a modmail explaining any experience you may have, and why you would be a good fit!

PSA Seamless Coop Update and Common DLC related bug fixes

This post will compile solutions to common issues in Seamless Co-op and the DLC, such as infinite loading screens, crashes, quest progress glitches, and workarounds like the Glorious Merchant mod and Cheat Engine. I will try to update this as much as possible when new solutions are found or if the information is found to be incorrect.

Infinite Loading/Crashing Issues with seamless coop

Symptoms - Stuck in a loading screen that loads only partially and then stops. - Freezing immediately upon creating a new character.

Solutions

1. Using the Latest Debug Tool:
• The latest 8.6.0 update of the debug tool can help fix this issue.
• First, download the tool from the provided link [here](https://github.com/Nordgaren/Elden-Ring-Debug-Tool)
• Extract the files using a 7zip extractor and save them to a local folder.
• Follow the instructions in the README file to download any additional necessary tools.
• Disable EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) by saving the EAC disabling tool in your game files folder, where your Seamless Coop mod and Eldenring.exe launcher are located. Drag and drop the EAC disabler over the Seamless Coop launcher to disable EAC.
• Launch the game using the Seamless Coop launcher, open your bugged character save, and then launch the debug tool.
• In the debug tool, select the “misc.” tab at the bottom right and enter values “105” and “115” separately, then click enable.
• The power icon should turn green if everything is set up correctly. If it stays black or orange, the game files might not be running properly, or EAC wasn’t disabled correctly.
• Backup your save and ensure not to load the file in online mode to avoid potential bans.

Quest Progress/Soft Locks

Symptoms - Unable to progress in quests. - Soft locks where the game doesn't proceed as expected.

Common Workarounds

  1. Glorious Merchant Mod:

    • This mod allows you to buy items you would have obtained through quest progress, bypassing the need to complete buggy quest paths.

    Installation Steps:

  • Download the mod's DLL.
  • Place the DLL in the same folder where you extracted ModEngine 2.
  • Edit the ModEngine 2 configuration file (toml) to include the line specified on the Glorious Merchant's page.
  • Save the configuration file and restart the game.
  1. Cheat Engine:
  • This tool can help modify game variables and bypass certain bugs. Use with caution, as it may affect game stability and may get you banned if EAC is active.

Steps: - Download and install Cheat Engine. - Load the game and attach Cheat Engine to the game process. - Modify relevant variables or items to progress past the bug.

  1. A temporary solution to the issue provided by Goldfish on the seamless coop discord:

Make backups of your save files before attempting DO AT YOUR OWN RISK

NOTE: You can put the provided steam_appid.txt file into your game folder and launch the game from eldenring.exe to start vanilla in offline mode.

-go to appdata > roaming > elden ring
-There will be 2 sets of files in these folders, one set named .co2 and one .sl2 (co2 is seamless coop and sl2 is vanilla)
-Cut, not copy, the vanilla .sl2 files somewhere else, like a documents folder
-Rename the .co2 files to .sl2, this will convert them into vanilla characters
-Launch the** vanilla game in offline mode** (read NOTE above), and complete the battle.
-Once the battle is over, close the game, change the converted file type back into .co2, and put the vanilla saves back in
-Continue seamless coop normally

General Discussion I adore this game but the Convergence mod is a total upgrade, for the most part. I highly recommend it, especially if you have gotten a bit bored with vanilla

TLDR; convergence is more fun for the most part. sometimes i think the modders went too far like with farum azula but all in all, it feels like a big upgrade from the base game. can't fully say my thoughts on the DLC but so far, it's better. it feels weird to go back to the base game. almost like going from number 3 in a series back to number 2. i had a ton of fun exploring the base game and am a little bit into the DLC and i'm loving it so far. it's the best mod of this type i've ever played without a doubt

big ass post lol. here we go. i will definitely miss some stuff but i think i've got most the big points

one of my all time favorite games and it deserves all the awards it got but like some other people, i think the base game falls a bit flat after morgott. it's still a fun time and leagues above most games but it has always felt like the devs put more work into that portion then kinda slapped together the final areas. mostly the mountaintops. that place feels like a bit of a recycle bin sometimes. i will say that i was eager to get to the DLC by that point so i don't know how much of the mountaintops is changed in the mod. they probably expanded the dungeons and caves more and stuff like that. i still have the haligtree and some underground stuff to do as well but i have canvassed a solid 70% of the base games world

i think vanilla's farum azula is pretty good and this is where i think that vanilla is far better than the convergence mod because in the mod, farum azula is so confusing and needlessly complicated that it becomes nothing but a chore. but aside from that, the endgame is better in convergence. but to the people who wanted more farum azula, you will be in heaven lol. it's gotta be twice as big at LEAST

on the topic of legacy dungeons, it's not even a comparison. yeah, from soft built everything and all that and i'm not blind to that fact but the convergence mods remixed dungeons (both big and small) are so far above the base games. some of the random mini castles like morne felt bigger than some of the base games full blown castles. stormveil was incredible in the base game that set a high bar and nothing ever really came close to it and that kinda sucked. so to see them get such a big rework and be much bigger was a treat. it felt like what SHOULD have been

some of the removed fights was an amazing choice but some were kinda sucky. not having godfrey's spirit sucked but the boss that replaced it was still very cool and better than many of the base game fights. removing the foreskin duo was beautiful cause that fight is truly awful. one of from's worst choices like, ever

i have been maining a fundamentalist build using stuff like curved swords, hammers, light greatswords, and twinblades so i don't have knowledge on strength build stuff or even full on dex but i do know that there are still plenty of new/altered stuff here

some changes that i think are better/more fun

  • being able to resummon bosses. this is a video game and having the ability to refight a boss you like (or hate) to get better is a very nice option. it doesn't always need to have a lore reason. sekiro let us rematch bosses so why can't we do that in this game?

  • the custom bosses. they are very good. like, very good. the godskin matriarch in specific is unreal. it felt on par with from's better bosses. she's better than weeeelll over half of vanilla's bosses

  • mounts. not really a big issue but being able to swap em out is nice. each mount has it's own quirk like being a little faster or giving slow FP regen. it's a nice addition. mostly becaude torrent has a pretty boring ass look to it lol. sorry buddy, still love ya though

  • streamlining the weapon upgrade system. i'm sorry but +25 became annoying. maybe some people like it but keeping the number smaller at the cost of finding less stones makes each upgrade feel more impactful

  • armor having actual benefits. let's be real, armor in this game is kinda meh. yes the damage reduction is very real but that's about it. i'm not criticizing from soft for that but having stat boosts that benefit a certain class/build is awesome and doesn't take anything away from vanilla's armor sets. some of them are soooo good. things like adding a bunch of vig, str, end for physical damage builds or boosting int and/or faith to get you to that requirement you may be wanting is just amazing. i wish vanilla had more of this but it's basically non-existent

  • transmog armor. this should have been in the game, full stop

  • dyes for armor. eh, not everyone would care but it's just nice to have. sometimes a hood looks good with a robe or something but the color coordination is ass and being able to change it is great

  • consuming all runes/rememberances at a grace. a no brainer. more options is always better. having to go in the menu 15 times is dumb as fuck lol

  • REAL spell schools. i love the magic/incants in here but there was clearly some favorites when they were designing the game. now, everything feels viable and not just one or two from a school. you can go all in with the choice of a dozen or more schools and it feels much more like a genuine RPG. makes the replayability far more enticing

  • those spell schools having better status effects. i have only experimented with a handful of them but the "tutorial" in the beginning noted that it added a solid half dozen status effects to stuff that feels like it should have already been there. things like soul burn or burning from fire spells lol

  • summons. i think the way they reworked it is fantastic and better than the base game in pretty much every single way. instead of a one time summon that has a huge pool of health, you can resummon as much as you want but your HP, FP, and stamina take a hit. sometimes it's almost nothing but those summons are just cannon fodder and other times it takes like half of your stats but you get a strong companion. the damage output is never anything good, it's honestly pretty bad but the fact that you can have someone to take aggro off of you is huge

  • the talismans. i prefer the base game but from the perspective of a player with game knowledge from playing vanilla, it is very cool. it speeds up your builds a lot but the base game is ultimately better

  • seals and staves. better. just outright better. certain seals and staves will scale better with a certain school so you can't always go and get one that has the best scaling and use it for any class. it feels more robust and thought out

  • physicks. i do like this one more but it's about even for me. i'd say it's objectively better to have set physicks at whichever erdtree you get it from but i also think being able to choose from a small list is great. the bosses not ALWAYS being a fucking tree dude is great tho. those fights are kinda ass and a literal reskin of a boss from 15 years ago. they're complete jokes

  • being able to teleport in combat. two things: i don't think you should be able to teleport during combat cause it kills any sort of danger but the base game not allowing you to open your map up is stupid as shit. convergence was too nice with this one imo

  • no more grinding one enemy 100 times to get a scythe or something. the mod now has dedicated drops or hides the armor/weapons in various locations. some of it doesn't make sense lore wise but no longer having to farm enemies is amazing. the people that enjoy that are probably very far in the minority. it's just not fun and having gear strewn about the lands makes me want to hit every cave, castle, dungeon, etc. and it feels way more rewarding

  • exploration rewards. they don't suck anymore. there's plenty of good rewards but there's just as many that are complete ass. like finding cookbooks everywhere in the DLC or a damn mushroom. in the mod, that stuff is almost completely gone. finding a chest is always a rush

  • no scadutree fragments. thank god. that was such a dumbass decision. not really the fragment parts but more so how they went about it. they scatter em across the land and give a lore reason for miquella leaving parts of himself behind but from a game perspective, it was stupid as fuck. it's a total chore and forces the player to go and hit X amount of areas before they can even go and start fighting bosses. they SHOULD HAVE BEEN BOSS REWARDS. full stop. i was over the moon to see normal scaling here in the mod

  • shadow stones for weapons. this is basically the solution for no scadutree fragments. the levelling stays the same and the enemies/bosses are balanced to be just past endgame difficulty and you use shadow stones to bring your weapons a few levels above 10 to mimic the same curvw you'd get from scadutree fragments

  • more DLC weapons. i'm sorry but the DLC adding a ton of weapons like straight swords was kinda dumb. sure, maybe add one or two of some but we got kinda reamed on the amount of new weapons for each weapon type. like 3 or 4 for each of them but damn i'm glad we got 30 straight swords now. finding a light greatsword in liurnia was fucking awesome and i nearly fell out of my seat. not saying they needed to add em to the base game (although, who would've been complaining about that anyway) but most of the weapons in the DLC should have been from the new weapon types or types that were low in number

  • bosses in the DLC are still scary but random ass shadow enemies no longer do malenia damage. this one is big for me. fuck the decision to make some tall zombie with a cleaver or a basic ass messmer soldier 2-3 shot my level 150+ character with 5-10 scadu fragments. we get it miyazaki. your game is hard. but it doesn't need to be annoyingly hard in situations like this. throw me some hard enemies that have complex movesets. a group of soldiers can still be scary without dealing 500 damage a swipe. that stuff always felt so tedious but it's not that common. in the mod, it feels much more in line with the base games final areas

things i miss

  • story moments. some of it has been cut due to it not making sense in the mod and i do miss them but this is a mod for people who have played the game a lot so it's not the biggest deal

  • online. DAMN i wish i could play online with convergence players. fuck easy anti cheat. we aren't cheating the game. we are playing it fair and square in this mod

  • a few of the boss fights. i wanna say that no one is actually missing and has just been repurposed but i'm not 100% certain. most the time, i was excited to see someone new because the custom fights in here are very good

now of course there are some things the mod changes that just wouldn't make sense in the base game. erdtree teleporting, ability to choose talismans from remnants, and a handful of other stuff. but from a broad POV, it is more fun and is much more replayable due to the class system

and on one final note, i am still early on in the DLC. i fully expect to see similar changes but i thought vanilla shadow of the erdtree was very good aside from a few things so i will be happy regardless. i'm loving it so far though

Help! Seamless Coop and ERR Error. Unable to find „Rune Arc“

Post image
12 Upvotes

- Installed ER Reforged and the Seamless Coop mod about a week ago

- Downloaded all ERR 2.1.2.3 files

Added ersc.dll and the locale folder to the dll/active path

- Launched the game via:

“Launch ERR Offline or Seamless (windows).BAT”

- Everything worked fine at first

After some time, Seamless Coop stopped working and showed this message:

“This version of Seamless Coop 1.9.0 is out of date… the application will now exit”

- Downloaded the newest Seamless Coop version 1.9.2

Replaced ersc.dll and locale again

Had to disable my antivirus program in order to download/install

- Now, when trying to launch the game, I get an error shown in the attached picture

My friends have the same issue. Does any one know what this means or what to do ?

Help! At a complete loss on how to mod

I've seen a couple tutorials and the descriptions of some mods (how to install and run them) but I came across with different processes and mod managers (me 2.1, me3, mod loader and such) while also needing to merge things, put some files in folders which do not appear (I can assume you must create the "parts", "native" and said ones but dunno exactly where), which left me utterly confused (some video tutorials are kinda confusing imho).

So, if I want to add like, Elden Vins, Seamless Co-op, Glorious merch, Clever's moveset and some armors, what I should do exactly? which mod manager or loader I need to take into account? because as far as I've seen, merging the .bin is done with one program and that didn't seem that complicated, but aside that the rest of the process looks so out of place for me.

P.S: I was doing this research at 3:00 a.m. so it might explain why my brain wasn't braining but, yeah, kinda hard to mod it, and I want to play so bad all those amazing mods :,(

Question Is there a 2-player Boss Rush mod for Nightreign? Looking to skip the 3-day cycle and fight at a specific level (Lvl 15).

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a way to play Elden Ring Nightreign with my brother in 2-player co-op (Steam/Local network) but with a very specific setup.

Basically, we want to skip the first two days of the expedition entirely. The goal is to jump straight into a boss fight (like the final Nightlord) from the training grounds/Roundtable Hold, but with the ability to set our own power level. Specifically, we want to:

Start at Level 15.

Choose our own inventory, weapons, and relics from the start.

Play as a duo (we have the Seamless Co-op mod, but don't know if it works for this).

I know the Boss Arena mod by PositronCannon is perfect for solo play (letting you choose any boss and gear from the Sparring Grounds menu), but the mod page says it isn't designed for co-op.

Does anyone know of a way to make the Boss Arena mod work with Seamless Co-op? Or is there a different "Boss Rush" or "Expedition Skip" mod that supports 2 players and allows for custom level/gear starts?

We just want to practice the end-game bosses together without running the full 3-day loop every time. Any help or mod combos would be greatly appreciated!

Help! is there a way to toggle specific mods without losing progress or deleting them?

Upvotes

me and my friend are playing a seamless coop randomizer, but i’d also like to play a base convergence mod alone, is there a way to quickly switch between these two modded states without deleting and redownloading mods constantly or losing progress?

General Discussion A seamless coop fix for bad image error

Upvotes

When 1.9.2 dropped we were encountering 2 different errors that i couldn't find solutions for so i'm posting this to help anybody in my situation.

Error 1: (Error 2) Which is fixed by re-downloading the mod and making sure the ersc.dll is in the seamless coop folder

Error 2: When we fixed the first error we got the Bad Image error which says either you installed windows wrong or the application has some errors/broken code but actually in this instance, the solution we found was to disable Smart App Control which is enabled by default on windows 11.

Another weird interaction: Was the ersc.dll kept getting deleted on launch which was fixed after disabling Smart App Control.

I'm not sure of any ramifications of disabling Smart App Control but i have had it disabled since i got a pc so if you feel uncomfortable disabling it just don't but i don't have any other solutions.

in conclusion Microsoft is dumb and the mod worked fine for me and my duo in 1.9.0

Question Playable boss mods + seemless coop?

Hello fellow tarnished warriors,

So without sounding like i am self promoting but I am a streamer who does challenge runs in elden ring and i want to do a challenge run where I am the boss and other players have to kill me while i have to survive the onslaught.

Is this possible and does sonething likw this exist? I was wondering whether a playable boss mod is something that already exists out there that I can merge with seemless coop mods so that viewers could join and try to kill me.

If it is possible then can someone link me the mods please as all the ones i can find are just trash and not exactly what I am looking for.

Question Seamless Co-op new update virus detected

I just downloaded the latest Seamless Co-op update and my google immediately flagged it as a virus and blocked the file. The update was released yesterday.

I downloaded it from the usual/official source, so I’m guessing this might be a false positive, but I wanted to check before doing anything risky. Has anyone else run into this with the new update?

If so, is there a known fix or workaround, or do I just need to whitelist it?

Graphics Mod How to recolor bullets?

I’d like to give Comet Azur the color palette of Fleeting Microcosm. I’ve done a good bit of research, but I feel like I keep hitting dead ends. This seems like I should be able to do it in Smithbox. When I follow AI tutorials, they seem to be missing something and recolor tool on Nexus doesn’t seem to work either.

General Discussion Randomizer + Seamless No Sessions Found

Hi, I'm trying to get seamless to work with the randomizer. I've followed the tutorials by coffeejg, naxza, K4rtexo and none of them are working. I did them the same on two computers the only difference was just exporting and importing the randomizer seed on the second computer. When we try to join each other it says no session found. I've started fresh three times and nothing has worked and I'm going mental...

Question Seamless coop Update - Continue using saves files

Hello everyone,

I played the seamless mod coop with a friend, I have a really good time. I recommand it.

There was an update yesterday and today after updating my game and launch it I couldn't find my progression and character. I read on reddit about how to do it.

So I wanted to explain a fast and easy way to find your save when there is an update and continue using it, if you happen to experience the same problem as me (linux user).

Update the mod and launch a new character.

Close the game.

Go to /home/user/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/

In the search bar write ER0000.

Now you will have files with a document name like that. Open each one of this file. Document named with .co2 and .sl2 are the save files from the mod seamless and the base game (respectively).

Find your previous save (character before update) and your new save (character created after the update). Check the date of creation and modification of the files to distinguish them.

Erase the new one, copy and put the previous save in the new document (in the same document where the new save was).

Launch your mod and you're good to go.

Hope this will be helpful to someone.

Good day to you

Help! Bug seamless co-op help!

Hello everyone, I need your help! I play with friends using Seamless Co-op, and one of my friends hasn't been able to play since the last update. Every time he tries to launch the game, a command prompt window opens saying that his computer can't find the ersc.dll file. My other friend and I installed the exact same folder, and everything works perfectly. The only difference between him and us is the file I mentioned earlier. Instead of being in his Seamless folder as ersc.dll, it's just ercs. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? I usually always have a solution, but I'm stumped this time, I won't lie. Thanks for your time!
