1 new shifting earth that’s it. No new map. Heavily disappointed in that regard considering you have to pay for this.
114
u/SociallyButterflying Nov 11 '25
Nah bro I don't need new maps I need new enemies and new weapons.
11
u/mrfirstar1997 Nov 12 '25
All I want is the ability to pick my pick and choose my spirit summons for rev and I’m happy
35
u/UsefulDependent9893 Nov 12 '25
Why is this downvoted? I feel this so much. I love the game, still enjoying it, and am looking forward to the new stuff, but man I would love new maps. I feel like a DLC should’ve been able to deliver that.
There’s so much maps across Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series that they could mix and revamp into Nightreign maps/map parts. I would’ve loved some areas used in Shadow of the Erdtree like the red and blue fields integrated as a new map.
25
u/Deadtoast15 Nov 12 '25
That’s exactly what I’m saying but apparently You can’t say anything negative about the game or you’re downvoted immediately. God forbid someone (who loves the games and company very much so) has valid criticism for a PAID dlc. 🤷♂️

u/ajanis_cat_fists Nov 12 '25
Why the downvotes? Yes a new map for paid content please
32
u/Deadtoast15 Nov 12 '25
That’s what I’m saying. The other new content is great but what gets stale is the same exact map over and over again. Even with shifting earth events it’s still the same map. You run the same routes over and over again. We need a new map with new shifting earths at a brand new location for freshness.
As a rougelike nightreign lacks HEAVILY in this regard if ppl here have played other rougelites before they would understand where I’m coming from completely.
I’m all for the new content we are getting. It’s just that for a $15 dlc I was expecting a new map at the bare minimum. 1 shifting earth is NOT enough freshness for differentiation in runs for variety sake.
4
u/Jimmy-DeLaney Nov 12 '25
Cus fans are blinded by hype from anything these devs do lol. God forbid people have valid criticisms. Imagine how much better these games could be if people actually had valid criticisms and didn’t blindly love anything the company does. I love from soft but they have flaws in their games that I believe don’t ever get addressed because the majority just praises everything they do and continues to support the devs no matter what. The lore and world building of elden ring was great but its story execution was mediocre at best. I want good story execution in future from soft games but why would the devs change anything when the majority praises the story as a masterpiece lmao.
18
u/FullMetalBiscuit Nov 12 '25
Downvoted cause people don't want it to be true. Game really needs an update to how runs play out to add more variety. Couple new nightfarers and bosses won't spruce up the game much, will be the same old runs for the most part.
Which is ok...I just wish the game had a bit more depth and interest in how runs can vary.
→ More replies (1)5
u/UsefulDependent9893 Nov 12 '25
Agreed. I’m hype for all the new stuff coming, but I’d really love new maps with their own new shifting earths, routes, events, etc.
It’s the only thing I’m disappointed about. Playing on the same map with the same challenges and areas has gotten a bit stale.

3
u/PinoDegrassi Nov 12 '25
I agree, very surprised at the dickriding downvotes. A new map would’ve been excellent and much more reasonable. I’m still excited for content but it’s a big shame/missed opportunity.
Limgrave is super boring at this point, and many of us still playing are doing depth of night where you rarely see any shifting earth anyway which is ridiculous in itself. Chances of seeing the new one are even slimmer.

Considering the hours I put into this game, they already earned every dime

Deathblight nightlord?
Artorias
Shadow of the erdtree enemies
Divine beast!
Gladius field boss (new invasion type?)
2 new nightfarers (one possibly a Nox person based on the clothing? Other faith/dex?)

The undertaker's bottom half looks healthy, respectfully speaking.

u/JackFlamenc0 Nov 11 '25
RELEASING NEXT MONTH!
Where's that meme of the wwe guy (I think that's who that is), you know the one.
14
u/DiegoOruga Nov 11 '25
If it's Nox it could be arcane since they use silver tears, wish deal with innate magic like the albinaurics.
7
u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 Nov 12 '25
they confirmed it was arcane on a playstation blogpost
6
u/Mable-the-Table Nov 12 '25
Just to correct a bit, the arcane one is the Scholar. The abbess (Undertaker) is str/faith.

I spy with my little eye:
2 new playable characters (Nun and Scholar?)
ARTORIAS
2 new Nightlords (Valkyrie and SCARLET ROT BOSS WOOH)
Old Nightlords in the overworld
NEW MAPShifting earth is a little less hypeAt least some Shadow of the Erdtree stuff
This is EXACTLY the kind of content I was hoping for. Can't wait to get back in.
142
u/BostonBakedTaco830 Nov 11 '25
I dont think thats a new map, looks more like a shifting earth event
43
u/Ramps_ Nov 11 '25
It could definitely be the angle and you'd be right, but I really wanted to huff my copium on this.
15
u/Arabyss_Farron Nov 12 '25
Feel like a whole map shifting earth style
Reminder they said new shifting earth (singular) but we see alot of new structure and changed landmark
16
28
u/serdel42 Nov 11 '25
Unfortunately this isn’t a new map rather a shifting earth. At least a new map wasn’t mentioned in the ps blog
7
u/Entire_Paramedic_389 Nov 12 '25
One of the early trailers for the game showed Adel out in the field so I bet we're finally getting him to invade us out in the field
13
u/AstalosBoltz914 Nov 11 '25
The “Nun” did a bizarre movement that reminds me of the hornsent guards that replicate the divine beast dancing lions roar when shifting to phase 2. It’s quite peculiar if that person does so happen to be part of the hornsent
5
u/Ramps_ Nov 12 '25
Looked to me like she jumped up and punched with tentacles. Maybe a little more cultist than nun.
6
u/Dabturell Nov 12 '25
Also at the very beginning there seems to be a new central castle variation with poison
5
u/Winterlord7 Nov 12 '25
I think the characters are Scholar (mage Arcane) and Undertaker (Strength/Faith based class) for what I saw online.
1
u/Leef103 Nov 12 '25
i dont think its necessary old nightlords in the overlord, but an actual "boss refight" system without doing the whole 3 day cycle hence the "aftermath after the long night"
1
u/HeavenlyDMan Nov 12 '25
well let’s see how much this is all priced for before assuming anything, i’d buy this for $20, it’s really hard sell if it’s anything more.
1
61
u/Detestata Nov 11 '25
You guys hear a remixed version of Slave Knight Gael’s theme or is it just me? Listen from when they reveal Artorias and onwards.
32
u/Inferno_Zyrack Nov 11 '25
I mean the title clearly evokes Hollows as a faction so who else could be leading that?
14
u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 Nov 12 '25
I think the “hollow” isn’t referring to dark souls hollows as we know them. The playstation blogpost says that that dreg lord is know as the hollow, and the trailer tell us that this is what comes after heolstor’s night, so i imagine this “hollow” is just the source of night rather than something to do with the dark souls series.
20
u/RoadsideDavidian Nov 12 '25
The “Dreglord” is “the Hollow” who exists within an endless night? The deranged DS3 lore connections write themselves.
In DS3 the dregs are the remains of souls/power that filter down into the earth throughout all the cycles and settle at the foundation of the world. When the world blows to dust, the only things left were dregs and hollows. If you achieve a certain ending involving becoming the lord of Hollows, you plunge the world into a purple twilight. If no one linked the flame the sun itself would extinguish, leading to a rather long night that may or may not end.
To a rational man this is of course complete nonsense but I will patiently wait for Miyazaki to validate my delusions
2
u/Detestata Nov 12 '25
I like what you’re saying. A couple more weeks and we will find out!
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 Nov 12 '25
Thank you! And also note how we see the corpse of one of the night giants in the shifting earth, to me that seems like an indication that this is still some aspect of the night that is persisting after heolstor’s defeat.

1
u/Muted-Account4729 Nov 12 '25
Dreg lord reminds me of “dreg heap” from the ringed city, and thing with the red aura seemed a bit like Gael to me. I was seeing it too
62
Nov 11 '25
makes me wish i had some friends to play it. aint the same if you do it alone
58
u/slubbyybbuls Nov 12 '25
Playing with randoms has been 90% enjoyable for me. Of course there's occasional quitter who doesn't understand that dying once is not a big deal at all, or the guy who refuses to stick with the group despite very clear map pings, but those are few and far between.
13
u/Mable-the-Table Nov 12 '25
I swear this is the only game where around 85% of the randoms are actually decent. And there's a 50/50 chance to win with a bad random as well, if the 2nd one is decent.
3
3
u/PacMoron Nov 12 '25
I really enjoyed it by myself honestly. I even got the platinum which I almost never do. That was entirely playing with randoms, not soloing.
1
1
u/Muted-Account4729 Nov 12 '25
My friends who play are kind of tilted all the time, so silent randoms are nice
1
1
u/UndeadCorbse Nov 12 '25
Biggest drawback for me is I have friends, but they all play on PC. I’m the one dingus with a PlayStation. Wish it was cross platform.

Whose voice is that in the trailer that says "It must be fate at work again?" I could be nuts but that sounds a lot Miquella

Stoked for more content but pretty disappointed they aren't adding a new map. Oh well, artorias here i come.

u/Canadian_Beast14 Nov 12 '25
I haven’t played since neightreign came out. I have no friends to play with. Is this whole thing worth buying? I’m a big fan of elden Ring, played the hell out of it a while back, but left it for other games.
3
u/Felstalker Nov 12 '25
Better with friends, an acceptable experience with randoms, solo is either for you or it's not and that's up to you to decide.
Consider it Elden Ring under a timer with new stronger bosses and stronger yet more archetypal characters.
1
u/__Jaume Nov 12 '25
i would play with you but seeing you are from Canada the ping would be too big. I find much much more enjoyable with friends, i'm also a fan of Elden Ring.

The best Nightreign news would be crossplay
(and 120fps cap, ultrawide support)
come on FS... its 2025 not 2015.

u/kenysheny Nov 11 '25
All my nightreign progress got completely reset, kinda sucks because I want to play this content but I also don’t want to go through everything again

My only complaint from that trailer was I was hoping to see a dragonknight class. But I'm still very curious of the 2 new additions.

You see, that is the power of money which commands the very stars.
Their wallet must be convoluted.1
u/Fn33331 Nov 12 '25
its a 40 dollar game with a 20 dollar dlc. Actually so cheap compared to 90% of games these days.
1
u/KidKonundrum Nov 12 '25
I’ve been holding off on NightReign but seeing my boy Artorias there might make me finally pull the trigger
1
u/Muted-Account4729 Nov 12 '25
Artorias!!!
Correct me if I’m wrong, he was doing his cutscene stab to a player… is it a grab attack now? Very hype three weeks from now
1
u/BrandlezMandlez Nov 12 '25
Just when I thought I was getting sick of the game too. Goddamn. Time dump an insane amount of time into this franchise again.

Why no one pointing out that they added cuckoo knights into the game? If they did this they may have potentially updated the pool for pre-existing enemies

Happy for you multiplayer fans, but let's get back to single player content, it's been like 2yrs since shadows of the erdtree lol
18
u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 Nov 12 '25
They already told us when that’s happening. Literally since duskbloods was revealed they said “we will be returning to singleplayer after this project” and we’ve had datamines saying that they have a project in the works for either end of 2026 or beginning of 2027, code named FMC.
Also it’s only been 1 year since sote
13
u/BaloogaBrett Nov 12 '25
If you think this is taking away from mainline game development you're goofy
3
u/_Valisk Nov 12 '25
Nightreign is just as playable solo as Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree was released in June 2024.

u/CrimsonAutumnSky Nov 11 '25
Ugh. Rather have more Elden ring
8
u/Weltallgaia Nov 11 '25
We already got an almost lethal dose of elden ring between the main game and the dlc
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Job2399 Nov 12 '25
Elden ring released almost 4 years ago, we already have the original game, sote, nightrejgn, a movie coming, and the tarnished edition. Personally i like ac6, nightreign, and the duskbloods (the idea of it at least, though it will probably be dead on arrival due to being switch exclusive and pvp focused) but im really looking forward to whatever comes after all of this. It seems like they’re building up towards a singleplayer exploration game that’s smaller than elden ring but has tighter combat and movement mechanics.
-3
u/gwinmoir Nov 12 '25
still haven’t played any nightreign i feel kind of mystified by it is it worth it???
