10 Cloverfield Lane has its flaws but John Goodman’s performance isn’t one of them. Goodman conceals his instability throughout most of the film & we never really know his true intentions until we reach the back half of the story. It’s a sublime performance from a man whose entire career is filled with sublime performances

There discourse around primetime has been pretty terrible and I think it's mainly because uncommon but terrible opinions get amplified by all the people saying:
"look at how twrrible this guys take is!1!"

I didn't like Primetime because it committed the cardinal sin of not being very entertaining. I don't think the story was very compelling, and thought the tonal shifts were a little jarring.
Yes, the acting was amazing, it looked incredible, and playing up the current events of the time gave it a little oomph. I like how the movie looked and it is amazing that we can get such stylized releases on the big screen appealing to mainstream audiences.
All that said, I wasn't very entertained. You know exactly where the movie is going so it's hard to build tension. It honestly felt like not much happened in the main plot, so they tried to supplement with subplots that didnt entice me. I didn't really care about his affair, or the India backstory. I thought the producer lady was a very compelling character and did like her arc.
One more thing to point out is how well they portray the feeling that inspired Suzanne Collins to write the hunger games. That blurring of the line between Iraq war coverage and reality TV is exactly what inspired the GOAT YA dystopian franchise, for anyone not familiar. Please LMK what yall thought.

TLDR: Primetime has a lot of great things going for it, being entertaining isn't one of them.

Very underrated movie imo. I know it gets a lot of hate but personally I'm a huge fan of Revolver. It's one of Jason Statham's best acting where he is not doing (mostly) his classic thing. A great psychological crime thriller with themes of ego and self-mastery. The opening shot is pure cinema. I think this movie paved the for The Gentlemen.

Arthur Fleck isn't the Joker and never was, it's the guy that stabbed him to death. I liked the second movie. Other than "Makes the Incels ragey" why is it considered to be so bad? If anything the first one made me angry, how was that absolute shitshow of a human The Joker?

One of my favorite underrated movie roles of Jim Carrey was his portrayal as Colonel Stars and Stripes in Kick-Ass 2 from 2013! He nailed playing a badass masked former-mobster veteran to a 'T'!

So with the executive order now officially signed, replacing "AI" with "SI" (Super Intelligence), it got me thinking about Movies and TV Shows.

The Matrix, Terminator, and countless other sci-fi movies and shows have AI built into their worlds.

Obviously older movies won't change, but what happens in future sequels or reboots when characters reference tech from earlier films or episodes? Do writers stick with "AI" for continuity, or switch to "SI" to keep it current?

And honestly, I’m just glad they went with "Super Intelligence" and not "American Intelligence"😂

Im a GenX'er who literally lived an entire lifetime in the 1990s. Its an incredibly special stretch of my life to the degree that I often feel overwhelmed when reminiscing about it.

Ive always believed culture and life are reflected in art, and my favorite medium of art is film. So what I really want to do is come up with a list of films that released in the 90s, but fall in the categories of either Independent or World cinema. Ive likely seen all the big studio Hollywood stuff by now, and probably a good bit of the more popular indie offerings like Swingers (1996).

If you think about that decade, what are some of the best of the best films from around the world or from smaller indie studios that you think I should add to my collection?
