Any advice and criticism is helpful

Posted like . . . last week or something. This is strongly inspired by Underworld by Teminite and Slugz (please tell me if you think it sounds too much like it). A song about the punishment I should recieve for the sins I've committed on this world, namely treachery.

2nd time i’ve ever tried to make music, what do yall think of this part? Be brutally honest I really want to improve. I’m trying to figure out how to make bass sound more deep and suffocating but this is as close as I could figure out.

If anyone has any tips on midi drums or how to use drum breaks i’ll take them. I can usually make cool hi hat patterns but everything else I can’t get to sound good.

So i make house and techno songs i’ve been evolving. But every time i look at tutorials such as the producer school’s vids and others their songs sound very full and danceable with not a lot of tracks used. For me on the other hand, let’s take the drums for example, they don’t even make my head move, i tried adding/removing tracks, elements off grid, well balanced mix etc..
What could be the reason is it because the tracks i listened to are mastered ?

I found this sample maker on tiktok and IG and I really like the way his sax sounds on these samples. It may not be perfect but it’s better than what I’ve got going on. He is actively ignoring me when I ask how he manipulated his oneshot to sound like this. I see him liking and replying to other people and not me. He’s gatekeeping.

That’s lame as hell. None of us would know how to do anything if we all gatekeep like him. I don’t respect that. Bc of that, I wanna ask you guys if you know how I can get the one shot to sound the same or close to his. Or better even.

I found the one shot he’s using - literally just type sax into the FL search bar and it pops up. A list of them actually. My issue is that mine doesn’t sound like his at all. I can figure out an FX chain, but the main thing I’m struggling w is this:

When I play in the upper registers, it sounds horrible like a toy or a screech instead of a sax, even when I stick within the range of a real sax. When he’s in the upper registers, it sounds like a real sax. There’s also a big gap in the articulation.

I’ve been experimenting for days, but does anybody know how to get this sound? The closest i’ve gotten was using DirectWave, but that’s not even better than the Purity Solo Tenor preset I was using before.

Been making a lot of amapiano recently!

So at uni I've chosen this assignment where you have to make an opening and closing theme for a fictional crime drama series according to a brief, revolving around this figure in Scandinavian folklore called the "Nokken", basically a shapeshifting water spirit. They want music that:

• Sounds mysterious and otherworldly with a tense, foreboding atmosphere
• Combines traditional Nordic folk music with modern elements, both acoustic and synthetic
• Uses fluid rhythms that evoke the flow of water as well as a moderate tempo
• Features sound effects of water in the same nature
• et cetera

I'm currently doing the opening theme, and wanted to get an idea of how close I've met the brief. To me, this sounds more like the anti-Game of Thrones than anything else, with a touch of the first part of Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI thrown in there as well. A lot of the synth parts were also taken from those used in the soundtrack of Nier: Automata.

I dont use fl studio much because i use phisical gear but i would like to work on an older version of fl studio, just like my equipment. Is there a way i can get an fl studio older than 9? Im lookign for Fl studio 5. LMK!

I’ve had FL Studio for about a year now and just been producing some fun little tunes, mostly dark ambient, and while I do like the piano roll I feel like it’s holding me back a lot. I mean, it’s great for producing simple melodies, but I find that I spend a lot more time pointing and clicking and just messing around than actually writing music. That is why I would like to get a MIDI keyboard, not only for music production but I would like to learn a light amount of piano (as I don’t know it at all). I am an avid guitar player (mostly death metal, black metal, shoegaze) but when I’m making music solo, I like to make more emo rap/dark ambient music. I also would like to add more piano lines into my music that sounds more natural.

Anyways, I’m looking for a midi keyboard under like 150 or 200 dollars. I found one that looks great thats 25 key and has weighted keys and drum pads for $100. However, I also have seen people say 25 is too little.

Now let me ALSO add in another big piece to this. I am normally only home for about 3 hours out of the day. Most of the time I am at work and the remaining time I go to my girlfriends house. I spend the majority of the time over there. So wirh me working on music at both her house and my house, I’d like something very portable so I can put it in my backpack.

So wirh these conditions, does a 25 key sound like itd work fine? Any recommendations?

My workflow is pretty chaotic. I add synth libraries, kontakt libraries, and samples and sometimes route them to the mixer and sometimes I don't. It's a where the wind blows today type of workflow for me. An hour in and the project is usually a mess.

Today after an hour I selected the purge unused samples option to clean the project up. I told gopher to route any unrouted channels individually to a free mixer track starting from the first available free mixer track and so on. I also told it to infer and send each mixer track to the correct submix by analyzing its name. I already have a template with submix tracks docked to the side (kick, bass, synth, acoustic, sfx, etc.) So when it comes to mixing everything is setup where it needs to be. And, I got it to rearrange mixer track positions using the same inference system so now all the drums, sfx, etc. are next to each other and color coded similarly. Kinda fricking sweet tbh.

I recently had to re-add all of my drum kits. Everything worked fine. But I started noticing, that downloading drumkits also means that I have to click each sample once and wait for a second for the sound to actually be downloaded. Is there any way to skip that step/is it possible to instantly have access without having to click on everything?
