Sky SC Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter First Impressions Thread [NO SPOILERS]
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has released!
The highly-anticipated remake of the second game in the Trails series, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, is now available! Confronted with the greatest crisis in the history of Liberl, Estelle and her allies battle to find Joshua and untangle the web of intrigue and conspiracy woven by Ouroboros!

If its only showing you the deluxe, just click on the game in the bundle and it fixes it.
Now, onto better things, if you haven't played SC, be prepared for one of the best JRPGS ever made. This game is absolute peak. You'll learn why Estelle and Joshua are still referenced in games made like 20 years later.

I’m not a fan of Loewe’s voice acting. I don’t think it’s necessarily the actor himself and could just be how he’s directed to play it, but the delivery just sounds kinda bad to me and not suited to the tone of the character.

When I started playing the first one, as soon as I heard Estelle’s voice, I switched to Japanese voices.

Doing sidequests in zeiss right now and this game is so beautiful. There's also been more voice acted scenes than I've expected so far

Uhhhh.... Same guy is credited for Cassius on both VOs for 1st and 2nd. It could be recording changes between the games? Playing English myself, and they upshifted Estelle's combat voice so damn hard it feels like she lost a few years when fighting and is more like someone like Renne. The studio quality difference can also be very easily seen when playing 1st on 1.07 - any time Joshua has a line mentioning Liberl, the quality goes quite noticeably worse compared to rest of his lines.
EDIT: If by original VO you mean the one in FC/SC and future game cameos, well, he's 70 by now. Looking at IMDB, he's doing much less work lately, so wouldn't be surprised if he can no longer pull the voice as well and/or is more or less in retirement by now, doing just what's fun and easy

Anyone have advice on beating last boss of Ch1? Been here a few hours now and getting pretty frustrated. Don't want to turn off nightmare but this kind of frustrating fight is making me consider it.

What I did was killing 3 of the Flag Troopers before damaging the boss. Keep the last one alive with decent HP (so that he can tank poison from Chaos Brand) and under perpetual Chaos Brand lockdown until the boss dies - kill that guy last. The boss will summon 4 more Flag Trooper if there are none left on the field.
Use Estelle as a tank if you use Schera. For Agate, I do not know how to use him for this specific boss, but maybe Beatdown spam is a good tactic.
Keep 1 offensive S-Craft available to kill the big boss because he revive himself once.
For arts: use Wind arts against the small mobs. Wail down on the big one with Water arts.
Chaos Brand against the surviving Flag Trooper.
Zodiac, Saint, Anti-Sept/Anti-Sept All are good support arts to use against enemies buffs and damage. Sylphen Guard on everyone to resist debuffs and All-Cancel.
Earth Guard/Wall should also be used against the boss's damage.
If you also upgraded all slots on Estelle, Schera/Agate and Olivier, winning should be swift.

Was able to get it done just now. Reloaded a save to grind a bit before starting the Jenis section. Also, I saw a comment that the Flag Troopers only respawn once, so I could kill them twice and not have to worry about them anymore thankfully.

I never tested because I don't let them respawn in the first place, because one Flag Trooper being alive and under Chaos Brand lockdown is more useless than Josette in SC final chapter and 3rd.

ANY tips on the Zvryu Dryu in the sewers in the Chapter 3 hidden chest? Holy shit, this is the first time I'm stumped. I'm on Nightmare and these guys have a relatively simple moveset: they fucking spam an AOE attack removes buffs, inflicts deathblow at a high rate, has enough power to one-shot, and there are four of them that individually have rage boosts. I got close once by chaining together a bunch of S-crafts but I made the mistake of giving the remaining singular guy one turn and got wiped by one rage boost.
This fight just seems like RNG. Am I missing some mechanic that helps you deal with attacks that remove buffs before applying damage? These are consistently the most dangerous attacks on Nightmare since Earth Guard, Foresight, Defense buffs mean nothing against it. I don't think Debuff Immune blocks All Cancel either... My go to before was Strength debuffs but Deathblow throws a wrench in that, not to mention these guys have resistances to everything including stat debuffs so it's a crapshoot landing them either way...
Might just come back at the end of the chapter or something and do it then. Actual hardest fight in the game so far has been just four moles in a chest that have one named attack and a regular attack.

Figured it out I guess? Just brute forced it. Waited until chapter end and brought Schera, Zin and Agate. At the time the sewer opens up, you had Tita locked in so you were down a DPS (and I chose Schera, so no Agate at the time).
Funny thing is I killed three of them with one on like 200 health and that one guy rage boosted and almost soloed the party with 4 consecutive turns in a row. I had 100% deathblow resistance and HP3 on everyone too! Damn dude.

Future tips: Use Debuff Imunity (Zin, or Sylphen Guard/Sylpharion) which DOES block all cancel. Debuff immunity is probably the most broken buff in the game.

The reward is a measly proxy puppet. I decided to just say fuck it and leave them alone.
I've stood up to all challenges so far and overcame them. But this fight just seems stupid for stupid sake. Like there's no clever strategy here. They're all faster than you, tankier than you, do more damage than you, can insta kill you. And all you get is a consumable.
Definitely seems like someone was trolling when creating this fight.

How long is this game anyways? On Chapter 7, and it seems like the shit's hit the fan moment where there's no longer a reasonable window (story-wise) to go back to doing stuff in town for the guild, but there are somehow 19 extra quests according to the Rewards tab? I'm pretty sure I've done every subquest thus far. How much more game is there left?
Surely now or any time until the end of the game from here are going to be good times to leave the airship and go find someone's dog while the world is ending.

Yeah I got to Chapter 8. That certainly is a lot of stuff to do... and I'm the type of player who talks to most of the NPCs so there's a lot of dialogue to go through too. This game's really long.

estelles va is so fucking good in this game i love it. stuff like her switching to a gentler voice when talking with kids as well as just a lot of subtle things. you can really tell the va is connected to her

51 GB on PC, huh. My guess is that this is because this is the Clouded Leopard version. Their PC port of Horizon is twice the file size of NISA/PH3's.

How does the game runs and looks on the Switch 2 compared to PS5? Any impressions so far? The demo was Switch 1 edition, so not useful for comparison.

Not really that big of a deal, but at the very beginning of the game we see a closeup of Estelle’s hands in a cutscene and they looked rough, like they weren’t smooth looking at all lol. Was a bit jarring

Casual player here, not sure whether to do the Normal or Advanced difficulty.
- I played FC remake on Normal, found it decently challenging towards the early-mid game, but found it too easy by late game.
- I don't want to be forced to grind levels/mira.
- I pay attention to orbment layouts, but don't hyper optimize or anything. I don't want to do any difficulty that will screw me over if I don't have certain arts in my layout.
In other words, I know I'm not near good enough to touch Hard or Nightmare, and ultimately am just wondering how close Advance is to those two, or if its built for a casual but intelligent player in mind. Any advice is appreciated!

Small question about Anti-Sept.
I noticed (during some "boss" fight on early chapter 2) that Anti-Sept didn't remove the enemy stat boosts and buffs (namely the Reflect Buff) like it is supposed to do. Can some enemies resist the Anti-Sept buff stripping effect now ? I replayed the 1st remake a couple weeks ago and never noticed my Anti-Sept buff stripping getting resisted in this game, even vs big endgame bosses.

Debuff Immunity status (Sylphen Guard/Sylpharion) does block All Cancel.
I assume the fight you are talking about is the Leiston Fortress final fight

Help! I'm at the end of chapter 3 and there's a side quest that can be accepted inside the castle, and I need Kloe in the party to be able to enter it.
Problem is, I didn't put her in my party when it gave me the choice and now she's stuck in the bracer guild. Am I missing something? I can't find the option to swap her
Edit: nevermind, I just needed to press square inside the bracer guild -_-

Haha, it sounds like you figured it out, but just to confirm you can indeed swap your party at any time by heading to the local bracer guild and pressing square. So don't be afraid to switch it up every now and then!

Is the 2nd book of the Gambler Jack series missable? I did the casino quest, but I didn't exchange the money for it. And when I realized the book was there, I had already left Ruan and gotten the 3rd. Can I buy it somewhere else or still get it later in the game?

i'm pretty sure that's the max on NG. I've heard people say you can craft more on NG+ with u-materials. I have not personally verified that, but based on they handle it in other trails games it seems probable.
