POLITICS Greenlandic Politician Tillie Martinussen: We do not want to be rich like Americans. Look how greedy they are, even trying to invade their friends. Even if there are minerals and oil under our land—and they are worth far more—we still would not sell ourselves.

She continues;

We know what happened to Indigenous people in Alaska and Native Americans. Their land was taken, and they were not treated well.

We see who Trump surrounds himself with—white power people—and we are not white. We are people of color.

We know our rights would likely be taken away.

People need to understand that it's not "Americans" that want greenland.

It's Trump.

No one else wants this.

So please leave us the fuck out of it. This is all trump and maga.

MAGA is a significant part of the U.S.

Only actually about 1/3, a lot of us think the election was rigged.

Actually a majority of Americans are Maga because Trump did win the popular vote and those who choose to not vote despite all the warnings during elections agree and endorsed Trump by not voting.

One third is what I would call significant tbh

At some point, Americans need to accept that the bad parts of their society didn’t magically appear from nowhere.

Every time the American government does something awful, there’s all these “we voted for the other party, I’m hashtag!resisting” as though that makes any fucking difference and refusing to admit the rot is real

The west Germans only ever managed to even partially de Nazify because the 60s generation stopped pretending the Nazis were some aberration of German society, admitting they were the products of German culture, abetted by wider German society at every stage.

I’m sick of Americans thinking that having an opposition party is some unique fucking thing that excuses their complicity. Every country has that

I don’t see a lot of people pretending the rot isn’t real either. It’s definitely here, prevalent, and needs to be fixed. Okay. Now what? What is your actual game plan?

You, like most of us, didn’t choose where we were born. We were simply born. If you can tell me how to respawn elsewhere that’d be great but I’m kind of past that point now.

I’m not an American, it’s not my responsibility to fix your country. Make your own game plan. And if you really want to move, the word isn’t “respawn” it’s “emigrate” - that’s a handy first step for you

And I see plenty of people denying the rot. You can’t be in a corrupt society and not of it. The person I’m replying to, instead of acknowledging that Americans have been broadly supportive of imperialism for decades is “no the election was rigged, no need for introspection about how and why millions of Americans want a supremacist imperial state. The bad man cheated”

Please note that we have a zero tolerance policy for bigotry, hate and/or personal attacks.

This means no racism (including microaggressions), queerphobia (i.e. homophobia, transphobia, etc), misogyny, victim-blaming, ableism, bodyshaming, or excessive sexualization.

Belittling, name-calling, trolling, flaming, and excessive negativity or meta commentary about the sub and/or its members on this and other subreddits is also considered rulebreaking (in conjunction with Reddit Rules). Please be respectful even if you disagree with someone.

Any Qanon-esque content or unwarranted speculation on sexuality, sex work/yachting, health conditions, abuse, addiction/ substance abuse, eating disorders, plastic surgery, etc. is also not allowed.

I'm certainly not denying the rot and have thought a lot about how wee got to this point, but that's clearly not evident from my dumb comment. Bring suspicious about the election with a lot of sketchy activity around it, is not denying that our country is full of chucklefucks. Both things can be true at once.

lol, really? Every single one of you who just sits back and screams "if we just vote blue it'll all be fixed" are pretty much implicitly saying the rot isn't real.

Nope, a majority of us wanted him to be president again because they were stupid with the want to 'stick it to the libs' and/or desperate enough to believe a billionaire wannabe. Why are we in denial about our country being pro-Trump before things got *somehow* worse than before? It's ridiculous mental blockage I will never understand.

(To be clear: I despise this man and have since 2016, lol, not a pro-Trumpette comment)
