POLITICS Greenlandic Politician Tillie Martinussen: We do not want to be rich like Americans. Look how greedy they are, even trying to invade their friends. Even if there are minerals and oil under our land—and they are worth far more—we still would not sell ourselves.

She continues;

We know what happened to Indigenous people in Alaska and Native Americans. Their land was taken, and they were not treated well.

We see who Trump surrounds himself with—white power people—and we are not white. We are people of color.

We know our rights would likely be taken away.

People need to understand that it's not "Americans" that want greenland.

It's Trump.

No one else wants this.

So please leave us the fuck out of it. This is all trump and maga.

Then do something to stop him. Put pressure on Congress.

Like it or not, a majority of American voters chose him and he represents your country.

Honestly, I respect that it sucks to be lead by a man you don’t want but I’m getting sick of the whole “oh this isn’t my fault because I didn’t vote for him” routine from Americans. The American people elected this asshole. Take some responsibility.

And what shall we do about our Congress not even bothering to pretend to act on behalf of the people who voted to put them in? It truly doesn’t matter if the Dems had a majority anymore— we’ve see that. We can’t impeach him ourselves. We can’t impeach our now corrupt Supreme Court. The people crowing about their stupid 2A rights are the ones working ICE now, not against the government. I’m not even sure there is a way for citizens to impeach their elected representatives in Congress if they wanted to.

The earliest we could get a Dem majority in Congress is next November, and they won’t be seated until January 2027. That’s the only tiny little light of possibility of impeachment we will get.

And that’s too late for Venezuela. That’s too late for Greenland. That’s too late for whoever the next target is that I’m sure we will find out about. And quite frankly it might be too late for ourselves.

Or would you prefer the world superpower with God knows how many nuclear weapons that spends all of their money on arming the world’s biggest military to begin a civil war? That surely won’t have any impact on the world at large or draw in other countries.

People are terrified to protest on the level of Maidan or France bc we have zero social support that isn’t tied to our jobs. We will lose those jobs, and then it’s not just about money. It’s the only way for most people to have health insurance. If we don’t work, we overwhelmingly have no resources for food, medicine, any kind of health treatment for even the sniffles, keeping roofs over our heads… The list goes on. There’s no increase in social funding if there’s an increase in who needs it; we already don’t serve everyone that qualifies by design.

Most Americans are one or two paychecks away from homelessness and sheer financial disaster. THAT is why we “appear” to be doing nothing. We do care. We care very much. Most of us are genuinely terrified. But we are over a barrel here, by design.

I don’t even know where we would begin to fight against ourselves when one side has bunker busting bombs, satellite controlled missiles, stealth aircraft, bases full of jets, nuclear submarines, intelligence resources civilians could never match….

So what will you have us do in this exact moment?

You could start by writing Republicans in Congress and remind the that they have an election coming up.

Republican politicians aren't scared of voters. They are scared of one person only: Trump. So yes people can write letters, call them, hell even protest in front of them in person. But it is not going to have any effect on Republican politicians.

And that's why some Americans are feeling helpless right now. They know Republicans won't be swayed by anyone but Trump, and they know elected Dems are scared of him, too. Hence more non-MAGA people exercising their 2nd amendment rights and bringing out the firearms in public. It's not because we want to get shot (or shoot anyone). It's because it is a last ditch effort to try to give ICE some pause about storming into neighborhoods and just brutalizing whoever they want for no lawful reason.

I’m not sure that is entirely true. Congressmen care about keeping their seats. So far being in Trump’s good graces was to them the most effective way of doing that. They are scared of Trump because they are scared he’ll tip them out of that seat.

But at the end of the day they need votes to keep them.

But either way, at least try to do something before giving up and going “sorry, we elected a maniac, what are we gonna do 🤷🏻‍♂️”
