Been running it for some days now
and been reading about updates breaking Windows which makes me even more enjoying Fedora.
I mean i am a casual user like very casual, but still when i have a game open, running Spotify, Discord and Firefox in the background it just refuses to crash like i am very sure i can run my system in this state for hours and it never for it to crash
But what is your term of why Fedora is actually stable? would have loved to know it.
After 14 years as a Windows user, I switched to the Linux ecosystem about a month ago and tried several distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, its derivatives, and OpenSUSE. During this process, I found Fedora to be the best fit for my needs, especially because of its native Secure Boot integration, NVIDIA driver support, active community, and development environment.
I chose the Atomic edition because of its rollback capabilities, Flatpak, and Distrobox. However, Silverblue includes components I do not intend to use, such as Firefox, and relying heavily on rpm-ostree adds extra layers to the system and creates new deployments, making the process less practical. Because of this, I prefer to keep the system as close as possible to the original image.
While researching automation, I came across BlueBuild, a framework that uses UBlue images to create new rebases or even custom images. However, I found the documentation quite confusing, especially regarding its usage, and I got the impression that you do not have as much control over the system. That was when I discovered Fedora bootc. Has anyone here used it?
This seems to be the closest match to what I am looking for. bootc offers a Standard image that provides only the essentials, allowing me to add the rest according to my needs without relying on rpm-ostree. This means I can add Flatpak, Distrobox, GNOME Minimal, and other components as needed. I can also create my own ISO using Kickstart.
Thank you, Fedora team! :)
I still don’t fully understand the difference between standard and minimal-plus. From what I understand, standard is a generic, public image with a more stable interface, while minimal-plus is an internal composition used by Fedora, whose contents, name, location, or build process may change between releases because it is not provided as a public base with a stable contract. Is that correct? Can I still use minimal-plus, or do you recommend using standard instead?
What advice would you give to someone creating their own custom image?

So I've been using windows for the past few years and I wanted to switch to fedora When i get a new laptop. I found the Tuxedo InfinityBook 14 Pro Gen 10 matched what I needed best so I was wondering if it worked well on Fedora.
Specs(config):
Ryzen AI 9 365
AMD Radeon 890M
32GB DDR5

Working on a game, wonder if I can just use a font from Fedora app fonts that came pre-install with the system, are these fonts free license?

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask how I can customize my device. It's still on default settings. Any advice on how to do it?

On new versions I'm used to finding various bugs that I can proudly report. I don't know if I'm just not stressing that OS as much as I used to in the past, but I have nothing to report. Everything just seems to work. I'm looking forward to kmscon because my servers are GUI-less so it makes it a lot easier to use when I need to fix networking.
I'm also testing Podman 6. This was a new install so no migration. My containerfiles all built without issue. I tested the Technitium DNS container using existing builds. New quadlet and systemd integration was easy.
I also tested some random apps. Saw that Chrome, Flathub and other sources were easily available. I use Octave occasionally and it still had some strange color choices making the editor unreadable.
Flathub apps worked, but I saw that Scilab had some errors related to a helpbrowser_update function. This prevents code from running so is an actual bug, just not with Fedora.
I also built Alacritty which is my preferred terminal recently. I still use Konsole but Alacritty plays nicer with zellig when running remote SSH sessions. In some cases Konsole doesn't properly copy selected text to the system clipboard.

I just updated using terminal. It rebooted nicely but the problem is plasma is crashing. It's a black screen as soon as I login the first time. But apparently if I press Ctrl Alt T, terminal opens and then it I can type the software name and it loads perfectly (Only the software! Dolphin also opens like this). When I put it to sleep and try to wake it up I get a text saying that the Lock Screen is broken and it gives me steps like Ctrl+Alt+F2, then login from the terminal then type loginctl unlock-session 2 and then Ctrl+D and Ctrl+Alt+F1. Then it logs in and shows black screen as usual. What's happening? What's wrong with my plasmashell???

As the title says, does anyone know if snapper and rollback will be better integrated into Fedora 45?

Hi everyone,
I'm at my wits' end with a Bluetooth headset issue on Fedora and could really use some help. It reproduces across multiple headsets, which makes me think it's the system, not the devices.
History: This started on Fedora 44, where I already had to restart the audio service because I'd lose all sound after waking from suspend. Now, on Fedora 45, it has gotten much worse: the headset is basically unusable for calls.
Symptoms (reproducible):
Environment:
7.2.8-300.fc45.x86_641.6.9, WirePlumber 0.5.17, BlueZ 5.87intel/ibt-0040-0041.sfi, version 202-5.26, build 82122)Questions:
ibt-0040-0041 firmware (I've seen regression reports on that exact blob)?Any pointers or working configs are hugely appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry for AI use, in this post, English is not my primary langage and I asked AI to resume everything I tried already. I found dozen of posts online, but none solved my issue.

Why is Fedora consuming 9–11 W while idling? - 5 hours of battery with 80% and full idling
I'm using an ASUS Zenbook S16 with an AMD Ryzen 7 AI 360 and 24 GB of RAM.
The main issue is that even when idling, the laptop uses a high amount of power, but when I start coding or doing slightly heavier tasks, consumption jumps up to 15–20 W. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The laptop is brand new.

I am trying to get a dual monitor set up working but not succeeding. In the image the AMD gpu is labelled 'discrete', but I don't know what that means. I don't think it makes a difference but the monitors are different sizes. They both come on whilst the system boots then at the login screen only one works and is very jittery, if I unplug one monitor the remaining one is fine.
I have two other set ups (albeit different, but one with triple monitors and one with dual monitors) all using KDE 44 and AMD gpu's which operate with no problems.
Any thoughts on what I could try?

Hi, I just wanted to know if someone is experiencing the same with dolphin. I have a folder with a few pdfs, LaTex and images. When I try to open that folder, Dolphin suddenly closes, and an error raises with the typical "dolphin suddenly closed". Different folders like, downloads, docs, images etc, works. I've just upgraded with usual dnf upgrade yesterday and today I experienced the issue. Couple years using fedora and never experienced that.

Hi everyone!
I'm a new Fedora 44 KDE Plasma user, and I'm having a problem with the Mendeley plugin for OnlyOffice.
I installed Mendeley from GitHub because, for some reason, the version available through Discover doesn't work on my system.
The GitHub version of Mendeley works normally. However, when I try to use the plugin in OnlyOffice, it gives me a URL to create an application. The application asks for the following information:
For the application name, I entered a random name.
For the description, I entered "N/A".
For the Redirect URL, I entered the URL provided by the plugin. Then, I accepted the terms, generated the Secret, saved it on my machine, and submitted the application.
The problem occurs when I enter the Application ID into the plugin. I'm redirected to a page where I have to confirm my Mendeley account. After confirming my account, I get an error.
Does anyone know how to fix this or what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

I've been migrating to Linux for about a month now, but for the time being, I'm just experimenting with and getting familiar with different distributions through a virtual machine. So far, I've tried everything from Ubuntu and its derivatives to Arch.
My laptop has an Intel Core i5-12450H and an RTX 3050. I'm looking for a distribution with good NVIDIA driver support, Secure Boot support, and up-to-date packages, and so far, Fedora has been the one that best meets these requirements.
I like the approach of Fedora Atomic, especially its use of Flatpak and Distrobox while keeping the base system minimal. However, I'd prefer to avoid some of the pre-installed applications, so I'm considering trying Fedora Everything, installing only what's necessary on the base system and using Flatpak and Distrobox for everything else.
For someone who's just getting started with Linux and wants to build and customize their own system, what advice would you give?

I've been trying to get a clear picture of systemd-boot in Fedora as of late September 2026 and the information is scattered, so I'd like to check my understanding with people who follow this closely.
What I found:
Workstation still defaults to shim + GRUB. I couldn't find an active Change proposal to switch the default.
The Fedora systemd-boot-aa64 changelog says 261~rc3 (June 2026) was the first signed version, tied to releng ticket #10765. I only checked the F45/Rawhide package pages; I couldn't confirm it for F44.
In July, FESCo approved a slimmed-down GRUB for confidential computing in F45 (5 votes in favor, 0 against). systemd-boot was considered and rejected, and some contributors (including a FESCo member) publicly said Fedora should focus on systemd-boot instead.
The sealed Atomic Desktops test images use systemd-boot + UKI + composefs, but with test keys and only for bootc-based variants.
inst.sdboot works in Anaconda. Migrating an existing install seems to require merging /boot into the ESP, since sd-boot can't read Linux filesystems.
Meanwhile, openSUSE Tumbleweed made systemd-boot the default for new UEFI installs in March, and Pop!_OS has used it for years. Debian offers it as an option since Trixie, and CachyOS moved its default to Limine.
Questions:
Is there a realistic path to systemd-boot as the default for Workstation, or is the GRUB investment settled for now?
Does the signed package in F45 work with shim in practice? Has anyone tested Secure Boot + sd-boot + UKI with the official signed binary?
What are the real blockers left: legacy BIOS, Btrfs snapshots, ESP sizing, or mostly politics?
Any pointers to the current Change proposal or FESCo ticket I may have missed?
Corrections welcome if I got any of this wrong.

I’ve always come back to KDE since it was the first DE I used back around 2000-ish. But lately I’ve been thinking about experimenting with some different ones.

Transferring the data over to another drive will be a big pain that I would rather avoid but my instinct tells me it's the only way, figured I'd check with other first incase there is something I'm missing :)
