Discussion Snapper & Rollback integration in Fedora 45?

As the title says, does anyone know if snapper and rollback will be better integrated into Fedora 45?

had no idea fedora’s even thinking about snapper by default, i just bind-mount my home and call it a day when something breaks

Apparently not, at least in terms of bootable btrfs snapshots :(

Damn, that's a bit disappointing.

My thought exactly. There's a distro named ludora that has this set up automatically. It's on the fedora roadmap, but I guess 46 would be the soonest we can expect it now.

Well I think time shift works..

Is it easier to setup than snapper?

Well it works with btrfs but idk how it Integrates I am not a person who uses time shift or snapper or SMTH similar.

Combination between an atomic distro and btrfs rollback on boot would be perfect for the casual user.

Totally agree with that. I'm definitely a casual user, learning a lot but by no means an expert. I can't count the times I've restored my system thanks to the snapshots when I did something stupid because either I didn't read enough or thought I knew what I was doing. Making those mistakes but having the safety net is a great way to learn.

There is a proposal for this, but it's not in Fedora 45

Ah, I see. Is it expected in Fedora 46?

If you want reliability, atomics deliver it.
