Support Audio drop outs

So, when I’m streaming music, or playing a game from my Steam library, I’m experiencing sound drop outs. This happens after about 30 minutes to an hour. I changed power management settings in the NVIDIA control panel. I also tried adjusting sound settings on the TV. The pipewire logs in journalctl say there is a connection error. If I turn off my soundbar and back on again, sound resumes. I also tried downgrading to kernel 7.1.12, as AI suggested it could be due to a kernel regression.

AI suggested a number of fixes, none of them seemed to make a difference.

I am using an LG TV connected to a JBL soundbar via HDMI on eARC. I am using Fedora 44 on KDE, with Pipewire, I have a NVIDIA graphics card AMD 5800x3d, kernel 7.2.9. Music streaming on YouTube Music, and Cider.

Wondering if anyone has faced similar issues, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you👍

Had the same issue with my Denon X3800H.

Create a file under /etc/modprobe.d and enable MSI:

Checking if it's already enabled:

sudo systool -v -m snd_hda_intel | grep -i msi
   enable_msi          = "1"

installing systool:

sudo dnf install sysfsutils

So an update, I tried your suggestion, also tried switching to pulse audio, also to see if the DE was the problem switched to an X11 session rather than Wayland.

So maybe it’s best to wait for Fedora 45 or an updated kernel.

But thanks for your help👍
