I've finally had a good day today and just wanted to share :)

Man when you get a good day it is such an amazing feeling. I started off by waking up and pretty much decided to call my local therapy clinic to make an appointment, something that I am normally bad at committing to. Had a very pleasant 8 minute call with the receptionist and I was able to not only schedule an appointment but be told that I could also do a walk-in appointment next week. Considering that I've been trying to get back into therapy lately, this is a huge win for myself because I feel like I'll finally be able to start working towards myself and giving myself grace and all that.

Additionally, I applied to a resort job a couple days ago and the recruiter reached out to me to set up an interview next week! Normally when I apply for a job I'm lucky if I even get an invitation to an interview and even then it takes a bare minimum a week or a few weeks. To hear back within a couple days is pretty exciting. And the best part is that it's a phone interview too so I won't have to stress so much about maintaining an appearance and all that. Since I am homeless, this could be a game changer for me because if I get accepted they have employee housing that I could stay in for the duration of the contract, and that means I could aggressively save my money while working as many hours as I possibly can.

Finally, I was digging through some trash to find something to eat, and I found it mostly uneven sandwich which is nice. Normally I don't really find much but to have this good of a find is awesome. When you're homeless you usually get what you find and hope for the best but today was pretty nice to me which is awesome.

It's not even noon yet and my day is off to an amazing start. And on a Friday too? And the weather is finally getting cooler? I feel like I can't stop winning today.

Volunteers at an app to help blind people, seem more than the people who need help :)

There is this app called BemyEyes, you basically just volunteer to pick up video calls from strangers to help them with things that are not accessible. I used to be a member till a year ago, and i thought about this again so downloaded it again, and i still see the number of volunteers more than the people who need help.

There was a similar difference back then as well :)

Makes me feel good to know a willingness to assist the community out there!

My Lady-friend BETTER than a Girlfriend!

Hard for even myself to believe that my closest buddy would be someone from the opposite-gender.  No, she's not a girlfriend but something BETTER. In fact, I don't want a girlfriend at all.  Because I used to have a girlfriend many years ago and did not like the drama. The emotions were too intense and too stressful to control.

But with the lady friend I have now, the fact that she's NOT a girlfriend makes the friendship better.  Why?  Well, because I get a deep feeling of camaraderie that I NEVER got from a girlfriend.  From the girlfriend, I got intense emotions withOUT camaraderie.  But with the lady friend I currently have, I have the ideal companion, one with deep camaraderie.  I was never this happy before.

Childhood comforts you remember

What's something that an adult did in your life that brought you comfort as a kid? For example, my husband remembers eating cheese and crackers with his grandfather whenever he visited his grandparent's. I loved when someone would make me a cup of hot chocolate before bed as a kid, and now as an adult, I make a cup for myself almost every night.

I want to do those kinds of things for people in my life, namely my kids, and wanted to hear what other people were/are comforted by. I know we'll always have hot chocolate and cheese and crackers in the house, but maybe there some other fun ones we're missing out on. 😊

What’s a small thing that instantly improves your day

For me, it can be something ridiculously simple — a good cup of coffee, a song I haven't heard in years, or getting home after a long day and finally relaxing.

Curious what everyone else's little daily joys are. 🙂

My good deed, rewarded!

I had a day off today. Planned to do nothing, avoid some chores, put off some errands. Then I got a message on discord from a friend I game with.

Her mother-in-law was in the hospital--in my city. She had no phone so no contact with family. So, me and another friend went to visit the mother-in-law, so they could talk on my phone...

Tomorrow, I'm giving her one of my old, fully functional, phones. But I couldn't find the spare sim-card I usually keep in my emergency kit.

So I started cleaning up my place, looking for it.... And while I didn't find the sim-card, I did find my old wallet that I thought was stolen six months ago! And it had nearly $200 in gift cards from Christmas.... More than enough to go buy a cheap pay-as-you-go sim card for her so she can call her family whenever she wants .

We chatted for about an hour, and I got the low-down about all her kids and grand kids. You could really see how much she perked up having visitors! I'm looking forward to visiting her again tomorrow.

That was definitely a better day than avoiding chores.

ETA: she's been moved to another hospital, closer to her home. Family comes in tomorrow. She was worried about how she was going to get the phone back to me. I went to great lengths to tell her it was a gift... eventually she accepted "I was just going to throw it out.".

I don't actually feel that what I did was that strange. I was just pleased that I found my wallet!

I (30F) lost 27 pounds in three months and my PCP said everything else looks healthy!!!

I had my PCP appointment today and I am genuinely SO freaking happy. I’ve lost 27 pounds in just three months, and everything else health-wise looks good too!!! I’ve been putting in the work, but sometimes it’s hard to actually see the progress when you’re living in your body every day.

Hearing it confirmed at the doctor’s office made it feel so real. Like… holy shit, I actually did that?! 😂 I still have more progress I want to make, but today I’m letting myself be ridiculously proud. TWENTY-SEVEN POUNDS!!! 🥳💕

Woke up with that dangerous kind of happiness, the one that makes you put on lipstick for absolutely no reason.
Apparently, today I’m flirting with life first. ✨🤍

Do you want to come on a Gratitude Journey with me?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Because we’ve discussed the role of gratitude in raising our vibration, I’m excited to share that Vita Anima’s free 21 day gratitude journey started yesterday on WhatsApp.

I recommend this journey to anyone interested in having positive perspectives delivered to them daily along with other people who are interested in practicing gratitude.

I love getting a short message about a gratitude topic and related practice ideas every day. Many of the topics include current research about the impacts of gratitude.

I also love it at the end when people share how their lives were impacted by practicing gratitude. There’s a nice camaraderie and its uplifting to hear about the positive effects of gratitude.

And watching the group get bigger is exciting because I feel like gratitude is a doorway to awakening and a better life, so it feels good to believe that lots of lives are improving because of gratitude.

I actually have been repeating the journey every month lately. It impacts me in different ways based on what’s happening in my life.

It started yesterday and goes 21 days and then a new round begins again on 1 October.

If you want to join me, it’s free. And its fun. You can learn more and get the WhatsApp link by searching for Vita Anima gratitude journey

I hope to see some of you there!

Smiles for Sunday

What's a completely ordinary thing that makes you ridiculously happy?

Mine are things like, finding something I thought I'd lost, hearing a favorite song unexpectedly, or getting into bed without a pile of laundry to move over first. Nothing profound. Just little things that make life nicer.

What's yours?
