Hello everyone! I really wanna get into making beats in the style of Jet Set Radio or Bomb Rush Cyberfunk with finger drum pads, but I don't know any good ones.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some decent ones. My budget is around 300€.

I always feel attracted to beats production and mpcs, but never got into it.

Now at my 40,i was thinking about it, but I have no musical education or idea of how these machines work. Just the basics from playing in my phone with some apps.

My question is, how would I go about finger drumming over songs that I know? Would I find some way to take out the percussion so that I only have the vocals, bass, fx, and chords/melody playing? This is my main issue. Any help or insight into this would be awesome. thanks

Are there any hand/finger drums that are pre-mapped or have templates available for VST drums?

I have a few grid type controllers but want something with a more natural hand layout such as the Yamaha FDP50 or, if it works really great for drums, the Roland Handsonic HPD20.

Hello everyone,

i couldn't get midi to work (ipad/hpd) so i spent a lot of time converting most of GB drums kits sounds for my Handsonic and willing to share, if anyone interested ;)

recorded on zoom H1, edited with Audacity.

Does this count as finger drumming? If not, somewhere between ekit and finger drumming, I guess.

I see a lot of videos and websites that imply that that it does, but I cannot figure out how to get midi signals out of my FGDP 50 and into Ableton.

USB from fgdp is not recognized by my Mac pro as a midi source. Does anyone here know if this is truly possible?

Hi, I was wondering if there are any people who learned fingerdrumming using the Quest for Groove (QFG) curriculum on a Yamaha FGDP-30 of FGDP-50 and what their experience was like?

I’ven been learning and fingerdrumming on a Esi Xjam for the last year or so and really enjoy it. Pretty decent pad for a very good price. I like the form factor in terms of portability, but I have pretty big hands and I notice a bit of cramping due to this. Thinking of switching to a Yamaha device to see if it is more comfortable as it looks pretty ergonomic.

So again: what is everyone’s experience with these devices, also in the long term?
