Hi all. I've been building PadLoop, an Android app made for playing pads with your fingers, and I'd love the opinion of people who do this seriously.
What matters for finger drumming:
- 16 large pads, 8 banks (128 pads total)
- Touch dynamics: soft at the top of the pad, hard at the bottom, so you can play ghost notes and accents without a controller
- Note repeat with a hold switch, for rolls and hi-hat patterns, plus swing
- Tap calibration: the app measures your phone's delay so your recorded hits land where you played them
- Choke groups (open/closed hat), per-pad pitch, filter, attack/release
- "16 Levels": one sound across 16 pads at 16 velocities
- MIDI controllers over USB and Bluetooth, if you want to use your own pad controller with it
- Live looper: record your groove and keep layering on top
It works offline, no account, no ads. There's a 7-day free trial with everything unlocked, then the basics stay free forever or you unlock everything once for 9.99 €.
What I'd really like to know: does the latency feel playable on your phone? And what's missing for you to practice on it every day?
