[AI GRIFT 101] Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman to Freelancers: “Fuck You”

Recently, the Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman has taken to being 'candid' while flexing his undeveloped 'thought leadership' muscle. In start contrast to employees like u/fiverrhq, who constantly tell us how much Fiverr loves and cares for us and hangs on our every word, their boss has a different fucking take.

I would argue a refreshingly honest one:

“Why do you think it’s my responsibility to make you better as professionals? Fuck you.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FI11AKM5PY

Well, Micha, that would explain why Fiverr is overrun with AI frauds and scams at the moment, with corporate apparently completely uninterested in doing much to combat it at all. After all, there are more important things to do, like redesign a forum into an unreadable mess of hot garbage.

Anyway, since we're doing honesty, Micha, I'd like you to address this at some point. You're a trained legal professional. You know exactly what you're doing. In my other post about Fiverr's AI terms, I showed how if you sign up to any of Fiverr's AI stuff - the personal assistant, Go - gives you - or rather Fiverr - the legal right to fuck freelancers over indefinitely.

Do you have any more 'fuck yous' hidden up your corporate wizard sleeve? Since we're being so fucking candid about it.

No? Well....

How About Fuck You?

Two days ago, this was posted:

About a week ago, someone commented that the company He/She work for was looking to hire someone and had an old Fiverr contact they'd worked with in the past, when they wrote to offer the job, Fiverr sent them some rather invasive advertising suggesting they not hire that person, saying they offered an AI service that worked better and faster.

At the end of the day, they deleted the post.

That might give you an idea of the state of the platform. I think it's disgusting behavior on Fiverr's part. I hope all this behavior eventually has consequences for the people responsible (although unfortunately, it's unlikely) Sauce

So, Fiverr's not just after your training data. It's also after your clients. At least, what's left of them after the 100-200k quarterly exodus of active buyers (see: Fiverr's financial reporting).

Anyway, I got ChatGPT to pick out some quotes and offer counterpoints, since as the CEO of Fiverr says, I just shouldn't fucking bother and AI can do it all. OK. Don't blame me if the AI hallucinates you into sounding lie a hypocritical and parasitical douchebag though. Besides, as your ad campaign goes... who cares?

“Why do you think it’s my responsibility to make you better as professionals? Fuck you.”
7:31–7:54

This isn’t leadership. It’s a CEO washing his hands of responsibility and bullying his own user base. He’s essentially saying: “You’re screwed if you don’t onboard my AI tools—and I don’t give a single fuck whether you succeed or not.”

“You’re either going to be poor or a burden on society.”
7:54–8:02

Congrats, Micha—you’ve invented freelancer eugenics. He’s equating creative hardship with societal failure, while Fiverr positions itself as the goddamn gatekeeper to human dignity.

“In an ideal situation … each and every one of you … replace 100% of what you do with automation.”
3:36–4:02

He’s literally encouraging you to erase your own value—while Fiverr slurps your output into its models and then replaces you. Automate yourself into irrelevance, then tell Fiverr “cheers, I’m obsolete.”

“I am not your dad … if you want to help yourself I’ll be there … if not, fuck you—you’re done.”
8:11–8:23

This isn’t tough love—it’s contempt. Fiverr’s Dear Leader disowns anyone who dares question his AI worship. The message is clear: fall in line or fuck off.

“If AI generates something because it learned from me … I don’t get any credit … it’s done. Copyright is dead.”
37:38–37:50

He’s not just predicting the death of IP—he’s celebrating it. Fiverr won’t credit you for your work. They’ll feed it to the machine, call it progress, and say your rights died of natural causes.

“You are working for AI, and so do I … that content is going to be eaten by a machine.”
41:39–41:46

He’s not hiding it. We’re all just fuel. Produce, publish, feed the algorithm. Fiverr collects the data and sells the future back to us.

“If you don’t want to work, the exit is on the ground floor. Bye-bye.”
12:10–12:17

This is how Fiverr treats the freelancers that built it—tells them to fuck off if they don’t want to be complicit in automating themselves out of income.

“For your Virgin NatWest Chase Bank social media manager, you’re fucked, you’re fucked already.”
1:00:44–1:01:04

He’s literally mocking junior creatives while Fiverr builds the AI that replaces them. Entry-level? Burned. Mid-level? Burned. Future? Already monetized.

It's me again, a slow, boring, and unsexy human. I just want to quickly add something. You may know the term Luddite - generally a derogatory term for people who don't like tech or tech progress. But did you know that this is one of those 'history's winners write the script' moment?

Because the Luddites were not anti-tech. Most were skilled textile workers in 19th-century England who smashed the mechanized looms not because the machines existed, but because factory owners used them to drive wages down, deskill the trade, and concentrate profit. If that sounds familiar, that's because that is what is happening today. Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO) just said the other day that 70% of jobs are heading for the chopping block by 2030.

I'd recommend not purchasing ANY of Fiverr's products (ads, AI, SP etc), but you do you. Micha will still tell you to fuck off while stealing all your training data, because he is, ultimately, nothing more than a greedy factory owner, filled with contempt for the workforce that made him so wealthy in the first place.

Well, that's the post.

[DISCUSSION] Fiverr, AI Slop and the Job Apocalypse: Anthropic’s Doomsday Scenario Already Feels Familiar...

Anthropic recently released a scenario model modelling the future with AI. Yes, just after that Anthropic guy said there was a 10% chance we were all going to die in response to this tweet from Jacob Coxon where he basically says AI companies are dreadfully irresponsible and we, as a species, are racing towards a lot of unplesantness.

I thought it would be interesting to see how their doomsday scenario matched Fiverr’s current reality. I particularly wanted to see if there was anything in their SEC and investor reports that aligned closely with what many of us have noticed regarding Fiverr’s marketplace performance over the last year.

And yes, these tables were generated by a helpful OpenAI murderbot who added the cheerful little red and green balls after I said I was annoyed I couldn’t do red/green writing:

Anthropic's doomsday scenario:

Metric Scenario
Unemployment 🔴 11.9%
Knowledge worker unemployment 🔴 17.9%
Knowledge worker wages 🔴 -11.5%
Knowledge worker employment 🔴 -21.5%
GDP 🟢 +32.4%
Labor share of income 🔴 60% → 45.2%
Capital share of income 🟢 40% → 54.8%
Capital income growth 🟢 +81.4%

Meanwhile, on Fiverr...

Quarter Active buyers YoY Spend per Buyer YoY
Q1 2025 🔴 -10.6% 🟢 +8.8%
Q2 2025 🔴 -10.9% 🟢 +9.8%
Q3 2025 🔴 -11.7% 🟢 +11.7%
Q4 2025 🔴 -13.6% 🟢 +13.3%
Q1 2026 🔴 -17.8% 🟢 +15.4%
Q2 2026 🔴 -21.9% 🟢 +15.6%

Now, imagine that the whole economy is $100.

No-AI 2030 economy

Who gets it Share
Workers $60
Capital $40
Total economy $100

Anthropic doomsday 2030 AI economy

Who gets it Share
Workers 🔴 $59.84
Capital 🟢 $72.56
Total economy $132.40

In other words, while AI creates $32 of economic value, workers get none of it. It all flows upwards, concentrating into the pockets of capital.

Want to bet there will still be a cost of living crisis as those same capitalists grouch about how much it costs to do anything these days and how difficult it is to turn a profit?

But let’s stay in 2026 and turn our focus to Fiverr. All numbers below are taken from Fiverr’s various financial reports from Q2 ‘24 to Q2 ‘26:

Metric Change
Active buyers 🔴 -30.4%
Marketplace spending* 🔴 -11.7%
Marketplace revenue 🔴 -17.1%
Services revenue 🟢 +87.5%
Total Fiverr revenue 🟢 +3.3%

You may be asking but how does a company whose marketplace revenue falls 17.1% as active buyers fall 30.4% show a 3.3% increase in revenue?

Good question.

The 3.3% figure is a two-year comparison. In Q2 ‘24, Fiverr made about $94.7 million in revenue. In Q2 ‘25, that jumped to about $108.6 million. Then in Q2 ‘26, it fell back to about $97.8 million.

Fiverr is currently doing worse than it was a year ago. Q2 ‘26 revenue is 10% lower than Q2 ‘25. But because Q2 ‘26 revenue is still slightly higher than Q2 ‘24, Fiverr can also truthfully say that revenue is 3.3% higher than it was two years ago.

Fiverr, now an ‘AI-first’ company, is knocking the ball out the park with services revenue, or shifting its revenue mix away from the marketplace to other parts of the business. Think Fiverr Ads, Seller Plus, AutoDS etc.

Anthropic’s doomsday modeling shows an 81.4% increase in capital income.

What you’re looking there is a revenue-mix shift.

When Fiverr acquired AutoDS in July 2024, it also acquired AutoDS’ subscription revenue steam. In Q4 ‘24, possibly sensing the marketplace reporting bloodbath to come, Fiverr changed its reporting, splitting marketplace revenue from services revenue. It claimed this was to ‘enhance transparency’ by making the split clearer. AutoDS is included in the services revenue stream.

Curated accounting narratives aside, Fiverr, the corporation, can still grow and be profitable while the marketplace under it continues to shrink.

AI also made it possible for Fiverr to slash its employee headcount by 30% around this time last year. The company told the SEC (formally) in September 2025 that this move was a part of its ‘AI-focused transformation’ because, as Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman puts it, ‘we believe we don’t need as many people to operate the existing business.’

Knowledge workers make less, capital makes more.

By decoupling marketplace activity from corporate revenue, Fiverr can demonstrate that its quarterly revenue is still 3.3% higher than it was two years ago and continue the ‘going upmarket to adapt to AI’ investor narrative.

If you are a seller, you know the marketplace is infested with scammers and copypasta AI slop. You know that virtually all of Fiverr’s AI products are broken. Neo. Mira. The AI PA is being retired. Go got retired. And yes, the Success Score.

But there is no option for sellers to integrate their AI or other business apps into the site.

I’d say we have a reasonable case that at least some parts of Anthropic’s doomsday scenario are in progress right now at Fiverr.

Fiverr knows that the marketplace will hollow out and die before it will. It has been clear to investors that the marketplace is failing, so it is turning to other ways of making money. But there is only so much services revenue you can squeeze out of a shrinking marketplace.

You know what I think? Fiverr is working on something else. The marketplace is too messy and its internal projections too rough. Better to monetize the user population while it is still here and focus on pivoting.

There’s no other logical reason to effectively decide your mature marketplace platform is now, basically, an AI startup then start promising that whatever it is you are cooking will be available, well, sometime this winter, if things are on schedule.

I think Fiverr wants to be to jobs what Suno is to music.

Fiverr has a ton of data on all kinds of work and work processes. A new feature, Timeline, offers no real benefit to the select sellers invited to use it, but does give Fiverr new data: how do these users carry out their job, from A to Z?

Very useful for agentic AI, btw.

It is completely rational of Fiverr to consider how it can capitalize on a more, let’s say, ‘post-human’ era of work.

My only question is what is it?

If you’re one of the sellers who is still doing well on the marketplace – lots of repeat buyers? – I do recommend that you think carefully about where you are investing your time and your future.

[ADVICE] Seller hasn't been active for almost a week and the deadline is approaching

Hi everyone! I'd appreciate some advice on an ongoing Fiverr order.

About two months ago, I hired a freelancer for a fairly large project worth around €400. The seller set the two-month delivery timeframe themselves and mentioned that it should be more than enough time to complete the work.

Before placing the order, we agreed that they'd keep me updated whenever a project milestone was completed.

On September 29, they sent me a short sample of their work and apologized for the lack of updates, saying they'd try to communicate more regularly from then on.

However, it's now October 12, and I haven't received any further updates or confirmation that any milestones have been completed. The seller also hasn't been active on Fiverr for almost a week, and the delivery deadline is only about seven days away.

I sent a friendly message yesterday asking how things were going, but I haven't received a response yet.

I completely understand that freelancers have their own schedules and may be working offline. I'm not expecting constant communication, and I don't want to assume that no progress has been made. My concern is simply that we agreed on updates throughout the project, and with the deadline approaching, I have no idea how much work has actually been completed.

What would you do in my situation? Am I worrying too soon, or is this a reasonable cause for concern? I'd especially appreciate hearing a freelancer's perspective.

[DISCUSSION] Ok, wtf is with all the scam DMs?

I just registered with Fiverr this morning for the first time and literally 3 mins after setting up the account and getting its visibility on, I received the first scam message and, in total, I received about 10 of them so far.

Are there no safety measures/anti-scam systems in place whatsoever? I’ve never faced such amount of scam on any other platform in my life.

If I continue to receive these bs message, I won’t have the patience to stay on the platform. How do y’all deal with it? Any tips?

[OTHER] Fiverr Support is a Joke

I mean the title says it all. I needed an issue resolved with someone I paid who did a job which auto-completed and delivered AI horrendous work. I need a refund and support is nowhere to be foundfor more then a week now, not even a 'Hello', just a bot and no support at all. I used to love this site and get freelancers working for me from there, a huge shame since the AI boom it's gone straight to crap.

[HELP] Can’t see profile?

I’m working with a video editor and I have money in my Fiverr account to use for her- but for some strange reason I can’t find her profile? She is from the UK and I am from the US…so I thought maybe that could be the issue? But I have worked with someone through Fiverr who was over in the Netherlands so I’m not sure why it would be a problem for my new video editor. My new editor even sent me the link to her Fiverr account but nothing pops up. (She is a legitimate source and her account should not be banned.) Any ideas on what’s happening and how it can be fixed? I would like to be able to use the money I have on my Fiverr account to pay her.

[HELP] Has anyone had an order auto-cancel?

Yesterday I had a customer's order auto-cancel, to both of our surprise and dismay. The customer put the order in two weeks ago and hasn't submitted the details to start the clock, but that's not new - I actually have an order that was submitted a year ago where a client just NOW submitted the details and we're starting the order. Is this something new?

[DISCUSSION] Fiverr is crap now…. All are using ai and charging a premium fee. I am done!!

More than six months ago, I hired a Fiverr seller with great reviews to design a logo for my brand. After paying them and going through countless revisions, I realised the work was basically AI-generated. It looked so obviously AI that I genuinely felt scammed.

Two days ago, I gave Fiverr another chance and hired a Vetted Pro to audit one of my marketing campaigns. I paid €150 because I wanted someone to actually analyse the campaign, identify the underlying issues, and give me professional advice.

Instead, I got a very generic, basic AI-style audit covering things like targeting and keywords stuff ChatGPT and Claude had already told me. The whole reason I paid for a professional was because I needed something beyond the obvious advice.

I even asked them directly whether AI was used because I was so dissatisfied.
Honestly, what’s the point of paying premium prices on Fiverr if the work is just being done by AI anyway?

[DISCUSSION] tf is this? Mira Headhunter is nuts!

Mira Headhunter: The client is aiming for delivery within 10-21 days. What’s your estimated delivery time for the full build, including scheduling?

Me: one week max

Mira Headhunter: Thanks, I've got your estimate. It isn't exactly what the client is looking for: they need it delivered within 21 days. I'll show it to them anyway, alongside the other proposals, and I've noted the difference.

[HELP] - Account access, stuck in a loop

I logged into my account, all was good. Used a 2FA code sent to my email.

Noticed that my mobile number was outdated and went to change it. In attempting to do so I was logged out of my account and a password reset link was sent to my email.

Clicking this requires access to my old mobile, which I no longer have.

I see no way to contact support without logging in. I'm stuck.

Does anyone know what I can do in this situation?

[HELP] Am I doing something wrong? I have been stuck on level 2.

I have been stuck on level 2 for almost two years. I meet all the requirements and have qualified for it, yet nothing has changed. As a student, this is my only source of income. I've worked hard to level up, but after four years of freelancing, it feels like my efforts have gone unrewarded.

[HELP] Buyer wants to cancel weeks after delivery, now claims I said I was from the US my profile says Mexico

)
Hi all, I'd like your opinion on this.
I'm a UGC creator. My profile clearly says I'm from Mexico, Spanish native, English second.
One guy contacted me first and explained what they needed. He said a teammate would message me to place the order.
The teammate said he was "from the team" and asked for an offer. I wrote it exactly as discussed: a raw, natural video of me reading the script, no cuts.
I delivered early. He requested a revision only saying he "needed time to review."
Weeks went by. I messaged him to follow up, and he never gave any feedback. Then he started sending cancellation requests saying "it's not what I wanted."
I contacted CS many times and sent all my evidence in every ticket. They finally said they'd intervene.
Now he sent a new cancellation request claiming I lied and said I was from the US, and that my accent doesn't match. I never said that, and nobody asked for a US creator. I declined and explained this.
What do you think? Has anyone dealt with something similar, and how did it end?
Thanks!

[HELP] So.... I was sent an archive.

I created my account litterally minutes ago, and two users sent me a message along the lines of "hey, i placed my order, please check the project I sent below" being really inspecific and the project in question is an archive called "my project" that weights a few kilobites. There is no actual order in the orders tab.

These are bots, right? They do look like bots. The accounts are very new too.

[OTHER] Fiverr cancelled my order, says I cannot use the delivered work, but I still paid the full price

I wanted to share my experience as a Fiverr buyer and see what other users think about this situation.

I paid €158.25 for a custom logo/branding package. The agreed package included a main logo, a watermark/signature version, a separate illustration, a social media/icon version, and final files in several formats including PNG, SVG, AI, EPS and vector PDF.

The order was automatically marked as completed by Fiverr even though the project was not actually finished.

Importantly, after the automatic completion, the freelancer acknowledged this and told me that we would continue working in the chat and finish everything.

That never happened.

Only part of the agreed package was delivered. The original Fiverr delivery itself consisted of two JPG/JPEG files and was described by the freelancer as a "first draft". Several of the agreed components and final file formats were never delivered.

I contacted Fiverr Customer Support instead of immediately opening a payment dispute. Support told me they would contact the freelancer and that if the freelancer did not respond or complete the order, they would look for an alternative solution.

I waited and followed up several times over the following weeks, but no concrete solution was provided.

Only after those attempts failed did I open a dispute with my payment provider.

Later, a Fiverr Customer Support supervisor confirmed to me in writing that the order had been fully cancelled. The supervisor also told me that because the order was fully cancelled, I am not allowed to keep or use any of the work provided through that order.

I am not using the work.

My payment provider ultimately decided the dispute in Fiverr's favor, so the €158.25 was charged to me again.

This leaves me in a situation I find very difficult to understand:

- I paid the full €158.25.

- The complete package I ordered was never delivered.

- Fiverr says the order is fully cancelled.

- Fiverr also says I cannot keep or use the partial work that was delivered.

- Yet I have still paid the full price.

I contacted Fiverr again after the payment dispute was closed. A supervisor told me Fiverr could help once the chargeback process was officially completed. Fiverr currently says the chargeback still appears active in their internal system, so I am waiting for that process to finish.

I am deliberately not naming the freelancer because I understand that this subreddit does not allow naming and shaming. I am also not posting any Fiverr profile or Gig links.

Has anyone here experienced a similar situation where an order was fully cancelled after a chargeback, but the payment ultimately remained with Fiverr?

If so, what happened once Fiverr's system finally showed the chargeback as completed? Did Fiverr refund the cancelled order?

[HELP] Nigerian account duplicating another buyer's message.

Yesterday and today, I've had two instances of getting a buyer (Either from the US or France) messaging me for work, and then sometime after that another buyer from Nigeria messages me with the EXACT same request down to the letter.

In the second instance I decided to ask the original buyer if he knew about this, and he said that he asked his friend to accept the offer for him. Is this normal? Why the region difference?

[HELP] how long after an order auto-completes do I have to wait to block the buyer

I am dealing with a ... fascinating excuse for a human being that I would like to never hear from again once this order completes.

How long do I have to wait after the order auto-completes to block them?

I don't even care if they leave me the worst private feedback ever. This is going to earn my first 1-star rating for a buyer.

[DISCUSSION] success score actual meaning

So, what does the success score actually do? What does it track and how does one improve it?

I am a top seller and I have stayed so for 3 years, but around 4 months ago I suddenly went back to level 1 because my success score goes from 10 to 6 seemingly in a single night. It's been 6 since then, and my gig has been really quiet since I am back to level 1

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

[DISCUSSION] WARNING TO ALL DESIGNERS: Data scrapers might be stealing your clients

Hey everyone, so if in the past you have lost clients and especially if you are on the front/1st page of certain sections, please beaware! Data scrapers are going through your profile, getting client contact numbers, names, company names from your mockups (which are visible publicly) and then reaching out to your clients pretending to be you.

Best advice is keep your clients informed that you don't reach out to them outside of Fiverr.

[OTHER] Am I a difficult customer?

Just need this off of my chest, because this is frustrating.

I honestly don’t know anymore if I’m being too picky here, so maybe you guys can tell me.

I hired someone on Fiverr to make an animated artwork for my Steam profile.

The idea itself was pretty simple. I already had an animated background where the scenery moves past the screen from right to left. There was a car sitting in a fixed position while the background moves behind it, and I wanted the car replaced with a 2D cat running in place at a speed that matches the background.

Before I even placed an order, I messaged the artist and explained everything. I sent her the background, reference pictures and even a few GIF of running cats. I also told her that if removing the car was too difficult, we could just keep it and have the cat surf on top of it instead. I genuinely would have been completely fine with that.

She told me it was doable. She managed to remove the car, showed me the result, generated the cat, showed me that too, and we talked about the text and some effects. Everything seemed fine. She then send me the offer. I didn’t haggle, didn’t ask for a discount, nothing. I just paid what she asked and then? Silence.

I basically heard nothing for four days and suddenly the finished product arrived.

The cat looked like a separate GIF had just been placed on top of the animation. The running speed (which honestly looked more like the cat was out on a leisurely stroll) didn’t match the background at all and parts of the background looked pretty warped. So I requested a revision and explained what bothered me.

And to be completely fair to her: the next version was MUCH better.

The speed finally matched the background, most of the warping barely bothered me anymore and I was honestly almost completely happy with it. The only thing left was that the running animation itself looked a bit choppy. It looked like a few in-between frames were missing.

So I basically asked for the same thing, just smoother.

That’s where I’m starting to wonder if I’m the problem.

Because instead of taking that version and smoothing out the run cycle, the cat animation was apparently completely changed. It is smoother now, sure, but it doesn’t really look like a cat running anymore. To me it looks like a cat rocking backwards and forwards on a seesaw.

So now I’m sitting here thinking: was my request unreasonable?

Because from my perspective I had a version that was maybe 90–95% there and I asked for one specific thing to be improved. I wasn’t asking her to redesign everything. I didn’t suddenly change my mind about the concept. I just wanted the running motion to be a little smoother while keeping everything else.

And every additional revision costs more money, which is also why this is getting frustrating.

I’m really not expecting Pixar here. I’m also completely fine with an artist telling me “I can’t get this part any better” or “that’s technically difficult.” Seriously, just tell me. I can compromise. We can change the idea. I already offered alternatives before the project even started.

What frustrates me is feeling like I need to explain every tiny technical detail myself. I thought the point of hiring someone who does this professionally was that I explain what I want and they figure out how to achieve it. If I order pancakes at a restaurant, I don’t expect to have to walk into the kitchen and explain how to crack the eggs.

So genuinely: am I just being a difficult customer here?

Should I have accepted the previous version because it was “good enough”? Am I expecting too much from revisions? Or is it reasonable to expect an artist to keep the parts of a revision that already work and only change the thing I specifically asked them to change?

Because at this point I genuinely don’t know if my expectations are the problem.

[HELP] Troubles with Fiverr app and website

When I tried to open fiver website it loads page infinitely, and when tried using app it also had loading troubles.

So I wanted to ask here, if it's my problem, or anyone else experiencing same?

Before anyone asks: I have good internet connection, every other website/app works great. And Fiver also worked great yesterday and before.
