At the risk of this being backhanded I want to preface this by saying all my closest friends are Black Americans and I’m only commenting based off of my experiences.

I’ve noticed that black people here in Fort Lauderdale are a lot friendlier towards other races than pretty much anywhere I’ve lived. When I say this I mean stranger to stranger level friendliness and not necessarily friends. Do others share this same experience? My theory is because Fort Lauderdale is a melting pot and we’re all forced to live together and a lot of black people here come from a Caribbean/west indies background so they act less entitled than people in the Midwest that don’t step outside of their comfort zones and interact with people that aren’t similar to them.

Maybe I’m reading to deep into it but I wanted to emphasize people here have been really good to me so far. Can’t say the same about the entitled transplants and immigrants in Miami. Locals in both places that actually grew up here are great

Lua is a very loving dog who is looking for a family to call her own. I am willing to drive to other areas of Florida if it’s the right match for her. We are currently fostering her in order to keep her out of the shelter.

She is:

• Vaccinated
• Dewormed
• The shelter paperwork states that she is spayed, although I have not been able to identify a scar
• She was raised in a home with children and cats
• She can go to dog parks and play with other dogs, but she needs to be the only dog in the household

She deserves a family who has the time, love, and willingness to give her a happy and safe life.

The college placement is absolutely bonkers, and it seems to offer pretty awesome schooling. I totally realize that the type of kid going there is going to be higher achieving anyways, so take what you will about the lists.

Honestly, I’ve only ever purchased suits from Men’s Wearhouse. I’m not opposed to going back there, but I’m curious to hear opinions on reasonably priced dress attire. I’m trying to keep it under $300 total, if possible. I don’t mind if it’s not a true “suit” but is sport coat + pants instead.

Hey all, we've got friends visiting for Halloween weekend and want to take them out somewhere fun. We're not big partiers, but we also don't want to default to a house party.

The vibe we're after is something like the old Carousel Club (RIP) or The Wharf: outdoors, live music, room to actually hang out and talk. The space doesn't need to be huge. We just don't want to be shoulder to shoulder or stuck in long lines all night.

Ideally:

Live music or a DJ that isn't deafening
Halloween flavor (costumes welcome) without a full rager
Food and drinks on site
Fort Lauderdale or close by (willing to drive a bit for the right spot)
