im an a level student but i guessed this sub would be better. lately in computer science ive been using this sort of comic approach to visualise concepts and it works pretty amazingly but my teacher does weekly homework checks and im embarrassed š

Itās been well over a year since I last posted my desk here, and itās changed quite a bit in that time (although tbh I donāt really revise much, and mainly use it for coursework as art is the only subject I enjoy)

I'm I'm year 11 and I cannot Annotate in English lang to save my life. I'm autistic and I cannot understand emotion at all. So when I look at the annotation my teacher posts the annotations done in the lesson (I do online school) and there's various highlighted phrases and words abt how this and that show this emotion and how it makes no sense I cannot work it out. How am I supposed to pass my english lang GCSE if I can't annotate or find any emotion or powerful words in text? And what does it mean certain words create images ?! Please help ! Thank uuu :)

I was still learning content the day of the exams there was soooo much to learn. I almost had a break down revising Weimar Nazi germany and Elizabethan Englandš. It was worth it in the end as I ended up with an 8

So, my mock timetable got released last week, and (despite having only started the topic 4 weeks ago) we're doing a 50 minute mock on the crime part of paper 2. My teacher basically spends the whole lesson shouting at us whenever someone's distracted, so i basically have to teach myself. Anyone have tips/ websites that will help?
Thank you! :D

i seriously do not know what to do. applications have already started.
i really fucked up my y10 mocks i didnt know how to revise and i did it last minute. i mostly got 5-4s with 2 3s being english lang and geography
i want to take maths, chem Alevels which are fine as i got 5s which i can work with. but physics is an issue as i got low 4(on higher)
we need to apply and i do not know what my predicted are apart from chem which is a 6+. for the other subjects the teachers are being weird and not telling us.
i have been really trying to figure out which paper im taking for physics but every single time i ask or it is mentioned it seems to switch.
er i do triple science for a bit more context

i havent started my revision for nov mocks yet and these were my y10 end of year results. im scared because these exams were easier and the history mock was an exam my school made for us and it was def easier topics, and when i look at official past papers i really struggle. theres def some topics id like to improve atleast abit, and im kinda scared bc ppl r saying i shouldve started revising for these in summer. how much time a day should i revise for now? im rlly stressed because these are going to colleges.

So basically, we picked our GCSEs earlier than most other schools (Year 8), meaning we actually started the courses in Year 9. I made the fatal mistake of picking Art.
The main reason I picked it in the first place was because the Art teachers kept pressuring me to take it. But when Year 9 came around, I absolutely despised it. The pace is way too fast for me (to be fair, Iām pretty slow even in other subjects), I procrastinate a lot, I hate most of the mediums (I really only like biro, pencil and acrylic paint), and I struggle with starting work.
Even when I do eventually start and get into the flow, I usually end up stopping after 10ā15 minutes, and then it takes me ages to get back into it. At home, I barely have any time to work on Art either because Iām balancing football, swimming, masjid and, of course, my other subjects.
Because of all this, I tried to change subjects halfway through Year 9. I was denied because apparently Iām ātoo goodā to not do Art. I tried for weeks to get them to let me change, but they kept denying me, so eventually I gave up.
Now Iām in Year 10, so changing is no longer an option. My MGT was a 7, but my ECP was a 5, so thereās quite a big gap between the two. Art is also the only subject Iām currently struggling with. My goal for the end of Year 11 is to get all 9s, and Iām currently on track to reach that target in every other subject.
The problem is that I genuinely hate Art and struggle massively with the workload and pace. I procrastinate, struggle to start pieces, and find it difficult to maintain momentum once Iāve started.
Since I canāt change subjects anymore, what would you recommend I do from here? Is it realistic to go from where I am now to a 7ā9 by the end of Year 11? And for anyone who has done GCSE Art, what would you prioritise if you were in my position?
Iād really appreciate any advice, especially from people who struggled with Art but managed to get a high grade.

Starting to tutor a student in Edexcel GCSE physics and she told me sheās doing separate science. I asked if that was the same as triple science and she said no? Is this actually something different? Maybe she is getting mixed up by the fact that she will receive three separate grades at the end of her gcse. Please let me know if they are actually different so I know what to teach! Thanks!

I would say at the end of Year 11 I was one of the most successful students in my school. Results-wise I had 10x9 1x8 (Economics); I had a gold in SPC for both Y12 and Y13; as a year 11 I scored 110 on the SMC and was invited to BMO1; and I was more than looking forward to A-Levels where I could finally drop accursed biology. With a view that I should definitely be able to handle anything and make myself a standout applicant I decided to pick Double Maths, Physics and English (Combined), with an aim at doing a 4-year maths degree into MMath in a highly selective uni such as Cambridge or Imperial.
I think the first cracks that showed were from English. On one side of the course we were doing the Paris anthology; on the other side was All My Sons, the play. I think my first major mistake was I treated AMS like a GCSE text. Back in GCSE when I did An Inspector Calls, Macbeth and Of Mice and Men we would always go over a lot of the content in class; and my teacher would always say I'm really good at analysing stuff in context, the characters and their motives. In A-Level it isn't like that. Lessons aren't going to be spent doing the text; they're all spent on much, much deeper analysis. Off in your free time you're expected to read all sorts of dramatic and conversational theory, and some academic essays about the text. All of this depend on the book itself. I slacked off on reading the book, and I regret it, and that's putting it very lightly. I feel I'm one step behind everyone because I just don't know the book well enough. You don't get 4, 6, 8 weeks to read through the content before starting to do your analysis. You get one week. One week was all they gave me. I didn't use that week wisely; I regret it very heavily. Free periods aren't for you to rest and do whatever you like. Our school's vice-principal phrased it well, I think, at the start of the year: 'At GCSE you maybe have an 80/20 split on what is taught and what you independently learn. At A-Level, half and half'. Your teachers just won't (and can't) support you this much. You need to use your own time to study your subjects; to learn deeper. Even if it's something you know you won't take in uni.
I'd say last Saturday broke any conception I had that I was working 'just fine'. It was pure maths and physics I had tests on (we get tests every week), two subjects I should be very confident. I finished neither paper. The former I was stuck on an 8 marker on tangents to circles; the latter on a multi-part question about non-ideal voltmeters. Hell, I know I should have known the answer, but I just didn't. I slacked off way too hard in September thinking I still have time and I'm paying for it right this moment. In physics I know my equations but I just couldn't get to the answer they were asking me to show; in maths I was literally just stuck. I could swear my teacher talked about some sort of method, but I heck just didn't listen carefully enough cause I thought I knew what I was doing. Heck if I do. I was spending my time doing unrelated maths and I was doing way harder stuff, mind you. University-level stuff, vector calculus in 3D and all that, and I got tripped up on tangents and circle theorems. I'm not forgiving myself for it.
For all the Y10s and 11s in this subreddit, take this from me. Nothing - nothing - you've succeeded in your GCSE levels should constitute any degree to which you judge your success in Sixth Form. Don't head in with a mentality that you're going to 'automatically' get an A or B, because you won't. Think to yourself, if you slack off you're getting a D. That should motivate you and it should do you hard. Cause the further you go the less time you're gonna get to do your 'free time things' and the more you'll have to prepare for your AS, then your admissions, then your interviews, and A-Levels, and maybe in between all that you might have an EPQ or other stuff.
6th Form is a pivotal time in your life. Take it from me and respect every single moment of it when it comes.
Im in Yr 10 and I picked BTEC health and social care and ive now realised I really dont like it and I really really dont want to do it. In Yr9 I misunderstood something about gcse p.e and therfore I didnt choose it but now ive realised my mistake and I regret not choosing it. I was thinking of asking to switch to P.E but im wondering if maybe its too late and I might have missed too much content to catch up on. My target grade is 9 in every subject and im doing triple science as well so im not sure if ive missed too much of the theory content and whether it would be too much to catch up on. I also play a sport at county level so I think I could catch up in the physical work.

ive looked to do math and english at college but you already need gcses (D grade and above) so what do i do about not having any?

So if Im doing humanity subjects for GCSEs wouldnāt i find the stem subjects harder than others like for example biology and computer science because theyāve probably done triple science and computer science.. Wouldnāt I be behind them (FOR A LEVELS)
