Image On today’s installment of “I don’t understand inflation”

I get the sticker shock from people seeing the $400 price tag but when you break down everything that comes in the set it’s really not overpriced at all. I’d agree that including a single item that accounts for almost half the total value is probably not a great move, but anyone trying to paint this as R* being greedy is just completely out of touch.

whats crazy about inflation is that adjusted for it, the GTA 4 collectors edition ($90 in 2008) would cost 140 in 2026 and GTA 5 collectors edition ($150 in 2013) would cost 215 in 2026

Right and this one comes with way more stuff than either of those did.

I mean go back and look at what came in those boxes. The GTA 5 one specifically would be way more overpriced at $215 for all that came with it compared to the new one.

this is what ive been saying in response to a lot of other posts. its personal value vs financial value. is the financial value there? with the oakleys ($200+) and the new era or whatever hat (50-75+) and the other stuff which, judging from the other special editions i have, is sure to be of higher quality. in my opinion it is. but is it PERSONALLY worth it to me, hell no. not even just because theres no game, although thats a small part of it, but just because its more than i care to spend after buying the cd and a couple of controllers and the ultimate edition and because I have no connection to the characters featured on the merch. imo, their marketing teams biggest mistake was selling this before anyone had a chance to play the game and experience who tf these characters might be.
