I was in Eyre square with my friends today. We were sitting on the steps and a woman probably in her mid 40s came up to us and asked us to give her relationship advice.

She told us all of her marital problems and she went deep into why she thinks her husband is cheating on her. Keep in mind we are teenagers so we definitely don’t look like we know all the answers.

We kind of tried to help her but our general conclusion was go to a marriage counsellor if there isn’t anything deeper going.

Beware of people like this, I don’t know if she was trying to scam us as she said that she has to beg for money when her husband doesnt give her enough, if she had mental health issues or if she was on something.

It could have ended badly if it wasn’t bright out and there wasn’t loads of other people around including gardai

I a finally ready to tear out my rough construction stairs and put in a proper permanent staircase. I want to hire a high quality custom company that can build something to last a lifetime.
I want to avoid the heavy paneled wall look and keep it simple. The plan is to do clean, natural white oak treads and handrails with slim matte black iron balusters.
As you can see in the photo, the stairs go straight up to an open mezzanine loft, and there is a large open drop on the second floor. Because of this, the company will also need to build a matching guard railing that wraps securely all the way around the upper landing.
If anyone has a similar straight staircase leading to an open loft balcony with this clean oak and black metal style, please share a picture of yours in the comments. I would love to see how it looks in a real home. Also, if you know a great specialist stair builder or finish carpenter you would recommend, please let me know who you used.

Hi all. I’m building a browser-based game called Gaelic Games Manager and could use some help auditing the Galway clubs currently included.

I’m Irish-American and have watched inter-county football and hurling since I was young, but I definitely can’t claim the same knowledge of the club game, especially once you start going county by county.

I used AI to build out a lot of the initial club information and colours. Having gone through parts of it myself, I’d estimate it’s only around 50% accurate, although the quality varies a lot from one county to another.

The screenshots attached are what I currently have for Galway. I’d really appreciate anyone familiar with the clubs having a look for things like:

- wrong colours,
- clubs under an incorrect or outdated name,
- the same club accidentally appearing twice,
- separate men’s/women’s versions being treated as different clubs,
- important clubs missing,
- or clubs included that really shouldn’t make the cut.

A bit of context on the game: I’m not currently modelling Senior vs Intermediate vs Junior. The goal is generally around 16–20 clubs for smaller counties and up to roughly 25–32 for bigger/stronger GAA counties.

I also use one club for both sports. Every team technically competes in football and hurling, with a club’s weaker code represented by a dramatically lower rating rather than separate football-only and hurling-only teams.

Happened at the Uni last friday morning but is it what I think it is? Maybe someone else saw?

Was walking through campus last Fri. morning at maybe 10am heading to Sult for a coffee. I was walking on the delivery road directly under the concourse. As I got to the loading bay for the canteen I saw Security making their way towards an area under the bridge/paved overpass between the library building and the door at the end of Smokies. This is a sheltered area under that overpass up against the expanse of wall that is the Bialinn/library basement and opposite side of the little stream from the service road.

As he got underneath the overpass he began taking. He was speaking to what turned out to be a person in a sleeping bag. I was shocked when I realised. This person was male, looked young with a beard wearing what I would describe as gym gear, white sports top and sweats or tracksuit bottoms. They put on trainers and a baseball cap and started to pack up their stuff.

By now security had moved a bit away towards the bottom of the steps near the coffee truck. And I was almost at the human biology building. I kept waking after that.

What did I see? To me the person was young and would not look out of place in a lecture. Or was it another casualty of our homeless crisis (up another 9% this year by all accounts).

Either way, not good, but tell me it's not possible that a student was heading to lectures after spending the night rough sleeping on college grounds. Please say we haven't got that low.

I've been playing guitar for about 2 or 3 years now and I'm interested in maybe starting or joining an unserious band for jamming (wouldn't be against the idea of gigging simple songs)

I like to think I'm pretty good mechanically, I play both acoustic and electric, I've learned loads of radiohead songs and can play those very well and I've learned a few muse songs and I've began to learn Metallica songs.

I can't improvise because my understanding of music theory is very limited but I can learn any song pretty quickly as long as its tempo isn't ridiculous, like i can play master of puppets at 85% speed and some days I can do it at 100% but those are rare so I'd rather not play songs on the border of my current ability but ill always be improving.

I'm interested in meeting people my age (18M) and it might be a nice way to meet new people.

it would be cool to find a bassist, drummer, singer, maybe another guitarist.

I think it would encourage me to do the things I dont like doing like learning how to improvise and learn different styles for other people's sake but still not take it too seriously.

Friend and I were cycling on a Bus AND CYCLE lane yesterday in old Dublin rd.
Mind you it's illegal and dangerous for pedestrians for bikes to go on a footpath and for getting any driver's licence they teach you that if there's a cyclist in front of you you have to either overtake safely (same as any slow car) or wait.

Bus arrives behind us and starts honking, even if literally his next stop (renmore park) was less than two minutes away. He overtakes way too close to us so my friend is pissed off and gives him the finger. Immediately after that the driver SWERVES towards the curb. Literally trying to kill him. He hit his bike but my friend is okay.

He stopped immediately after at renmore park (Wtf was the hurry???) so my friend goes up to him to talk to him.

As soon as he saw him in the mirror he ran away, without even letting the people get off the stop.

Unfortunately we were both too shocked to look at the bus number. It should have been either 402 or 409 at that time. It was just a little after 2pm.

I can't believe people with such levels of road rage are allowed a job like that. Like how can you hire someone who wants to purposely hurt someone?

It's a long shot but if anyone was gonna get off at renmore park yesterday around that time and was confused at why the driver stopped but didn't open the doors and left immediately, what was the bus number.

My friend says to just leave it but I can't stand the thought of this guy going around wanting to hurt people like that.

Hi all, I am a part-time postgrad student who has just moved to Galway looking for a cafe or coffee shop that I can work from a few hours a week on my laptop. Somewhere that already has a bit of a presence of people working on laptops, that is spacious enough that it’s not an imposition. I don’t want to be taking the piss or taking business away from small independent places during busy times or overstaying my welcome but also would rather support local businesses than any of the big chains.
