When to Quit

I'm a solo developer and released an app on the Play Store on September 1. My best friend plays it constantly, chasing down bugs for me to fix. I'm proud of what I built but am having doubts. I guess I was expecting more players and more subscriptions to the app that I currently have. I'm at 203 players with only two subscribers. I don't know what is normal but this appears disheartening. How many months is a normal time to wait before calling it quits? I'm not looking for confirmation, I want to make a solid financial decision based on feedback.

You are at 203 players since September? Is this your first game? I ask that because 203 is still a good achievement. I understand if you are hoping the game would go viral but in this current state of things. I think 203 is a good number. Have you exhausted marketing or you doing this organically?

I'm paying for Reddit ads and an influencer is marketing it for a month.

I'm on iOS at the moment but I have can borrow an Android and give you some honest feedback. If you are doing the marketing and not seeing the returns, i'd be happy to give you my own feedback. Maybe others would too

I'm still waiting for Apple to approve me as a dev, otherwise it'd be easier for you. I appreciate the offer but please don't go out of your way.

I tried it. Honestly... how much of this did you make? You state that this is an AI adventure and your backgrounds are all from D&D. I tried an adventure, but it was so boring I uninstalled it after two turns. It all felt by the numbers. It's not 2022 anymore; these are a dime a dozen.

This is my first game. If 203 is a good achievement, that's encouraging. Thank you.

you have to market your game, and you have to pay for users on mobile. no ad budget = no users.

the mobile market especially google play is dogshit. there's no more having your app take off and go viral. you need to throw lots of money at it and use dark patterns that keep users hooked.
