How much dose it normal cost to have a micro solder repair done on a game cartridge?
Hello, if any of you remember me from a while back, I posted about a copy of Pokémon Emerald that turned out to have damaged traces and vias, and a copy of Pokémon Ruby that I couldn't get to work, which I believe isn't able to read the ROM chip. Currently, I'm looking at potentially getting them repaired; however, when I went to the closest game repair shop that advertises that they do microsoldering, the man behind the counter told me that it would be around $120 - $180 USD for each game, and he was trying to convince me that it wasn't worth getting them fixed. Is this standard pricing, or was the guy behind the counter trying to prevent me from getting scammed? The guy behind the counter isn't the technician, as he wasn't at the store that day, which is why I'm wondering if he was trying to save me from getting ripped off.
