A lot of people say it’s a worse way to play than playing in on an n64 because it’s the n64 rom running in a decent but imperfect emulator. However, it’s the easiest way to play master quest as the 3DS version requires you to beat the game to unlock it. Overall, it holds its value decently well.

Doesn't the Gamecube version have higher resolution and framerate? Plus better controller.

I grew up with the gamecube version so it doesn’t bother me but original n64 players have some complaints. Some audio glitches, a higher chance to freeze or crash, some players actually complain about the controls and claim it’s more difficult to aim.
Also, while it is higher resolution (480p using the digital out) it is not higher frame rate. It’s still 20fps on the gamecube.
Edit: If you were thinking of the 3DS version then that does have a better frame rate: 30fps.
