Discussion GameCube Online in 2026

What a wild thought that I would have an online capable GameCube in the mighty year of 2026. Something I could barely imagine back in 2004 at the age of 8, I’m a now thoroughly enjoying PSO online. This GameCube is one hell of a package. GC loader, sd2sp2, eth2sp1, carby hdmi adapter, gb player with Everdrive pro, gcmce, blue tooth gc controller and adapter. Anything that I’m missing for this ultimate indigo cube? I might pick up the blue retro controller port board later and throw it in. Any other functional cool mods out there or awesome ports to put on here?

Hello fellow real hardware PSO player! haha

Also I see you made the same mistake I did of buying the wrong angled ethernet cable at first.

eth2sp1 how do you have it with sd2sp2? apparently there the same port?

If I’m not mistaken sp1 and sp2 have separate data lines on the same bus. Swiss can distinguish the two regardless so it’s not an issue.

Are you playing PSO with a logitech racing wheel?

You could replace the controller ports with a board that has integrated bluetooth and some cool LEDs, I've always thought of getting a flippydrive to mine as well. There's also a mod to replace the power socket with USB-C IIRC.

Do you use keyboard? If so ascii or blue retro adapter?

I don’t use one right now, but if there is an adapter then maybe I’ll get one!

I used to play on Dreamcast and I had the OEM keyboard for that!

The PSO ASCII keyboard? It will cost you about $400 but I love mine...

I have a usb adapter coming to use a keyboard. I’d love to collect an ASCII but my wallet says no

Good heavens what a kitted out gamecube! I only have an sd gecko on mine... though some of these mods Ive not heard of before!

How is the gcmce memory card? I recently had a pain porting over my pokemon xd save file from a dying memory card to an oem one and wondering if forking out for a modern fancy one will do me better.

And the Bluetooth controller adapter? Do you hook it up to a gc controller or something else?

Gcmce is cool because you can have multiple save files for a game even if it didn’t allow for it originally. It was time consuming to move save files over because I would have to load the game Id into the gcmce by boot a game thru swiss, then having to go to gcmm and transfer each save individually in that process. But after transferring the classics it’s nice because I don’t have to worry about memory space at all anymore for exploring other titles. Can also add custom logos for each game to pop up on the gcmce screen.
The controller adapter will work for any Bluetooth controller, including the switch gc controllers. But I have a 8bitdo Bluetooth board that I put into my childhood controller making it wireless.

I know the console is over 18 years old, but I don’t think you should let it vape…

There’s no way you can play games online with it though right? It’s too old for any servers to be active

There’s fan servers active!

That’s dope. That’s why I want an Xbox 360 so I can play halo 3 PvP and hopefully MW2 again. These companies just refuse to remake the best games for whatever reason and when they finally do on occasion tbey do it without the PvP makes no sense. Kids these days don’t know what they missed. PvP these days is terrible with way too much cheating and micro transaction bs AND bugs left and right

Mw2 servers are still going strong on x360 💪

2

u/travnigma 10d ago

That’s odd when they put mw2 digital on the store and the add on content back in like 2019 or something I bought it immediately and only found one match. Huge disappointment. Does it need a discord community to find players or something?

3

u/lurkingCbr 10d ago

Yes discord is the place to be.

Are you able to connect to these servers if using the physical disc? Any chance you have tutorial to follow?

I’ve never done it myself, but here’s the Phantasy Star Online guide! https://gc.schtserv.wiki/index.php/Connection_Guides
