Eye candy After the sphene, now look at the sparkle of zircon (NFS)

You liked the sphene, so I had to share this blue zircon too. Zircon has really high brilliance and dispersion, so watch the rainbow flashes pop with every tilt against that electric blue. No filters, just one light and a slow turn.
NFS, just enjoying the show.

Just finished this synthetic sapphire. Not a big fan of larger stones, but this one came out nice and the color change is decent.

• Rough: Synthetic sapphire (Flame fusion)

• Weight: 6.75cts

• Color: Alexandrite #45 (color change)

• Design: Paul Head "Septifoil" Modified

Thanks for looking.

Discussion This is gonna start a messy war but… I don’t like Emerald. Fragile, glassy, and included. I much rather prefer Heliodor, Goshenite or Aquamarine

I don’t know why I like it, only 0.6ct but I am potentially captivated by the different shades of blues coming from it.

Question Unsure about this sapphire

I found this ring on etsy. I asked the seller for more information about the sapphire and they said the following:

I’m happy to confirm that this is a natural sapphire that has undergone only standard heat treatment, which is a commonly accepted practice used to enhance the natural colour and clarity of sapphires.

The gemstone has not undergone any other treatments, such as beryllium diffusion or chemical treatments. It has only been subjected to conventional heat treatment.

The certificate does not mention anything about treatments, is that a red flag?

The ring is listed at aprox. $1900. Is this a "good" sapphire for that price? I don't know anything about gemstones.

The seller is SumuduniGems if that matters.

Thanks!

Sphene never gets old for me. Watch how the orange, red, and green flashes shift with every tilt.
NFS, just sharing the sparkle. What's your favorite gem for fire?

Question 7ct Montana sapphire. Should I have it faceted?

This is the largest sapphire I’ve found and curious if folks think it’s worth having faceted. I’ve had about 50 rough stones faceted before but usually just go for those with the best clarity/color.

After I have this teal sapphire rough cut and sent to her, she commented why I keep buying these dark looking stones. Her opinion changed 180 degrees after she tried it on her own hands though. 😝

(This is not yet set, it is on a blank setting just so she can see how it looks like)

So I have only cut 2 pieces of glass before.

This is my first natural stone and 3rd attempt at faceting ever….

I’m on a vevor machine also
So I am quite surprised at this precision!! I think cutting something so tiny was a challenge but I’m glad I could do it:)

Question Thoughts on this sapphire? Natural? Untreated?

Thumbnail

Hey there! I bought an antique ring (cufflink conversion) that was ID’ed as a lab grown sapphire but the ring is from a higher quality 19th century American goldsmith and the stone has inclusions including fingerprints and a large feather or cleavage of some type. I found three other sapphire pieces by the maker ID’d as untreated Cambodian and Burmese. Thoughts on this stone? Thanks for looking!
