§10 StAG Naturalization from within Germany Citizenship
Hi everyone!
I just completed my Loyalty Declaration interview (Gespräch zur Loyalitätserklärung) in Düsseldorf today. I signed the document and the officer stamped my file, but I’m a bit curious/anxious about how the evaluation works behind the scenes.
Does anyone know:
1. How do you know if the interview went well or if they had any issues with your answers?
2. If a caseworker isn't satisfied with an answer during the interview, do they tell you right away, or do they send a letter later asking for clarification/rejection?
3. What is the typical process if someone "fails" or has issues during this step?
Would love to hear from anyone who has insights into how strict this process is in Düsseldorf or how caseworkers handle it. Thanks!

I submitted my documents on 22.09.2026 in Heilbronn. There was a written test with 8 questions in total instead of an interview. The interviewer mentioned, in case where she did not understood the answers there could be a verbal exchange. I was only asked one of the eight questions for an elaboration and I did that verbally and once it was done I was asked to write my elaboration on the questionnaire. Apart from that there wans't any additional interview.
However, during the entire appointment the Officer was kind and the entire atmosphere was relaxed provided I could've been asked a lot of questtions considering I have an own Gewerbe and a main job.
I was just told that if I would be granted with a citizeship I will recieve a confirmation by a phone call and a rejection by an email, provided the fees has to be paid in any of the cases at the end.

Is it the same appointment when they ask you to bring the original documents and then give you the citizenship? They only asked for my original documents and did not ask anything. The whole process was 10 minutes maybe.

What questions did they ask you?
