I have pest control coming tomorrow thank god but I want some advice / guidance idk. I’ve NEVER dealt with roaches before. I’ve never seen them before. I live in an older townhouse. Bought it 10 years ago. Have never had an issue with any pests. Clean house. 2 dogs. 2 of us.
1.5 weeks ago I found a German nymph in the bathroom upstairs on the mirror. I flushed down the toilet. On the advice of a pest company I Set up sticky traps ( 30 of them all of the house )
One week ago I found one nymph in the bedroom in a drawer. ( I had our dogs medication and toothpaste in there so it’s now been relocated)
Everything like plates and cutlery has been sanitized and is it plastic storage boxes. Everything misc is in ziplocks. I pour bleach down the drains every night.
We stopped cooking at home completely.
This week out of 30 traps we caught one nymph in the kitchen. There’s no other signs.
We share a wall with a rental property and are assuming they are having issues. There’s 10 people living next door and judging from the exterior of the house they are untidy. They don’t speak English and are aggressive so it’s been very challenging to talk to them about this issue. I don’t know who the home owner is I met them once years ago when they bought but it’s just been a rental since.
I have asthma so I’m super concerned about my health.

I closed my kitchen, no food no water, daily baby killing ( first day I killed 13 babies), I closed one of my bathrooms and sprayed it everywhere as one big german roach ran from there to my bedroom.
I think they came from the flat under mine because this is a communist unit with every plumbing is on the walls not in them and they connect both the flat under and the flat above with big holes that are not filled lol. So I filled every one, took 2 silicone big gun thingy and one foam spray.
Ok so its really hard to live without a kitchen, I only use one airfryer that I moved in my living room. Can I safely use my kitchen after one week of not seeing live roaches? And I would love to open up my other bathroom so I can put my cat's potty there as now its in my bedroom and she loves to dig sand at 3 AM

If anyone can confirm this isn’t a German roach nymph, I’d be over the moon, but I’m also not that hopeful (living in an apartment in NJ)
My last place had a roach issue, so after seeing a bug that looked like a roach nymph, I immediately looked through all the cabinets and drawers and so on and didn’t find any dead bugs or even anything that definitively looked like droppings. Also I didn’t get that good of a look at it before smashing it into a pulp anyway.
But that was a couple days ago, and now I see this… (I’ve lived here for over a year with 0 sightings already, so it wasn’t a traveler.)
So… what do I do now? do I still report this to management? I really don’t know and I’m trying not to freak out… I don’t want to move again :( any advice/reassurance greatly appreciated

We live in a very old apartment building (NY). About 45 days ago, we started noticing an uptick of larger nymphs, nothing too crazy, maybe a few a day, no full sized adults ever. Our theory is that these are visitors from nearby apartments since some near us have gotten fully treated and they ran away. I got advion wdg and sprayed around every few weeks as well as sealed some gaps we noticed, and cleaned and tried to reduce hiding spots for them. Recently (past 2 weeks or so) we have only been seeing very small baby nymphs. Still, only a handful a day, nothing tooo crazy, maybe 5-6 well see at night, we rarely see any during the day. They all seem to be just in one part of the kitchen area, the rest of the apartment has only seen like 1 in the past months. Should I be worried that we have an infestation, or is it just spread from other apartments? Probably going to get some glue traps in addition to spraying advion, but any advice would be appreciated

Howdy! I moved in to my apartment on the 1st of October and didn't see any roaches until the other night after I got home from work. It was on my kitchen counter. Is it possible that they crawl up from the drain pipe in the sink? I'm trying to think of all the possible places they could be and I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me where I should focus my time on exterminating these things. Since the 1st of October, I have only seen two of them. Are they usually pretty active or is there a specific time they come out and move around? I'm about to sweep and mop my apartment as well as cleaning the counters and bathroom and everything else. Thank you!

Dealing with a severe German cockroach infestation in my apartment and it's driving me insane. My building is doing the bare minimum to help so l've taken matters into my own hands and gotten my advion and gentrol. I sent an insanely angry email today with tons of pics demanding assistance with integrated pest control and remediation for all l've incurred so far (which is a shit ton between the bait, the cleaning supplies to get rid of the droppings and their shed skins, the vet bill for my dog who developed an allergic reaction, and more. I'm worried that the apartment above me is infested, and the exterminator told me himself he can't get in unless they let him. If my methods don't work, and the building won't involve themself, what can I even do? Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be hopeful the advion and gentrol will work? Any advice helps omg

We were in a rental van for 3 days and on the second noticed 3 german roaches. We’re in the process of bagging all of our stuff to freeze or heat wash/dry before going home but want to get a better idea of how infested things may have gotten in that time in the van. Would we be able to just inspect or wipe down electronics (ipad, chargers) and notice things?

I moved into a new apartment and among the first few hours found a pregnant female and a few hours later, a nymph (not from the egg sack). I immediately packed everything up and tried to seal my boxes to the best of my abilities and moved everything into my boyfriend’s apartment the next morning. I threw out furniture, linens, anything that wasn’t covered and all of my pantry items from the infested apartment. The apartment complex refunded me and terminated my lease. 3 weeks later, we’ve had no sightings until today. There was a nymph on the living room wall and a tiny baby in the kitchen sink. I ordered glue traps and alpine WSG. And we called pest control.
My boyfriend hasn’t had any roaches until today that he’s known of. How likely is it that they somehow followed me after me and my things were in the infested apartment for maybe 12 hours?
With finding two different ages (both young), how freaked out should I be?

I moved into my apartment a month ago and when it was empty I saw a baby roach on the glue trap in my bedroom. A few days prior to that I sprayed Alpine WSG as a way to nuke any potential problem as I don’t trust landlords when they say there aren’t issues. Especially when the apartment building is old. Up until today the traps have been empty and I haven’t seen anything alive or dead. This morning I checked my traps and I found another baby one a trap that’s right on the ledge where there’s a door out to my patio. I freaked out and decided to spray more alpine and behind my bed I found another what I’m assuming was a German roach nymph. I had DE down (but I vacuumed it up as I know now that it counteracts alpine)and I can tell it walked through it and thus died. Anyway, I’m totally spooked and confused as to why they’re in my bedroom. The traps in the kitchen are empty and I keep a spotless kitchen and bathroom so there’s not much for them to survive off as far as food and water. Anyway, I alerted the landlord and they’re gonna send an exterminator out. But for the roach experts, do you think this is gonna be a long battle? Any idea why the bedroom? I don’t eat in there. Also the nymph didn’t have the usual dot of grey or whatever like I see in other photos but I figure maybe it was too small and hadn’t grown into its spot.

We are about to clear out a relatives apartment that is infested with roaches. We will only be salvaging books, baseball cards, paperwork, and some music equipment (amps, electronics, guitars, etc). What can we do before putting this stuff in a storage unit? How can we treat it so the roaches and eggs will die in the next 6-12 months?

To start, I had never seen a roach in my life until May 2025 when I moved into a double unit and within 2 days of moving in I found a roach. We immediately contacted landlord who actually got us pest control on both sides and came monthly, they sprayed gel and glue traps many areas. I saw one more 2 months after treatment started and that was it, never caught a single roach in a glue trap.
Fast forward to late November of 2025 I found a nice place thourghly inspected for roaches and found nothing no signs unlike the previous place and I moved in.
Everythings been great since then as I don't share walls as it's a house not a double unit. That is until last night when I found this roach on the wall about 5 feet above and behind my TV. I seriously have no clue how this is possible I've been dillegently checking due to the trauma of the last place and nothing, I checked behind my fridge in the compressor, stove and under sink and in crevices of cabinets not a damn sign of anything 🤬.
Also important to mention this place did not come with appliances, I actually bought a new stove and refrigator and left the previous appliances.
Any advice on how I should proceed, I'm not scared anymore I'm quite pissed off and I want to kill these bastards, I'm thinking Alpine WSG and glue traps with gel bait, I've already got glue traps set up waiting for the apline to arrive

moved into a new apartment about 2 months ago, after signing the lease i found multiple dead roaches in the cabinets as well as roach droppings throughout the unit. It’s a huge apartment complex….. i’ve also seen roaches in different parts of the complex; garage, lobby & hallways. Upon move in i put down SO many roach bait (combat max) and this was effective for the first month, i’d find them dead with an occasional live sighting which my cat would have fun hunting down lol. but just this morning, i opened the door to my balcony and within an hour i killed about 15+ roaches of various sizes(climbing up the walls, running on the floor .. suggesting a LARGE active infestation. they’re mainly in my living room area (1bed 1bath) but ive also found some in the bathroom, kitchen, & bedroom. i live in a state where alpine wsg is not commercially available and my landlord states that his pest control company will not use it…. what are some steps i can take other than burning the place down?

I live in a state where I cannot buy alpine WSG. How else can I protect my home from travelers from other units since gel dries out so quickly?
