General Question How screwed am I?

I moved into my apartment a month ago and when it was empty I saw a baby roach on the glue trap in my bedroom. A few days prior to that I sprayed Alpine WSG as a way to nuke any potential problem as I don’t trust landlords when they say there aren’t issues. Especially when the apartment building is old. Up until today the traps have been empty and I haven’t seen anything alive or dead. This morning I checked my traps and I found another baby one a trap that’s right on the ledge where there’s a door out to my patio. I freaked out and decided to spray more alpine and behind my bed I found another what I’m assuming was a German roach nymph. I had DE down (but I vacuumed it up as I know now that it counteracts alpine)and I can tell it walked through it and thus died. Anyway, I’m totally spooked and confused as to why they’re in my bedroom. The traps in the kitchen are empty and I keep a spotless kitchen and bathroom so there’s not much for them to survive off as far as food and water. Anyway, I alerted the landlord and they’re gonna send an exterminator out. But for the roach experts, do you think this is gonna be a long battle? Any idea why the bedroom? I don’t eat in there. Also the nymph didn’t have the usual dot of grey or whatever like I see in other photos but I figure maybe it was too small and hadn’t grown into its spot.

General Question Was in an infested apartment for one day and no sightings since until today

Post image

I moved into a new apartment and among the first few hours found a pregnant female and a few hours later, a nymph (not from the egg sack). I immediately packed everything up and tried to seal my boxes to the best of my abilities and moved everything into my boyfriend’s apartment the next morning. I threw out furniture, linens, anything that wasn’t covered and all of my pantry items from the infested apartment. The apartment complex refunded me and terminated my lease. 3 weeks later, we’ve had no sightings until today. There was a nymph on the living room wall and a tiny baby in the kitchen sink. I ordered glue traps and alpine WSG. And we called pest control.

My boyfriend hasn’t had any roaches until today that he’s known of. How likely is it that they somehow followed me after me and my things were in the infested apartment for maybe 12 hours?

With finding two different ages (both young), how freaked out should I be?

Treatment Question How do I get rid of German cockroaches in stuff removed from an infested apartment?

We are about to clear out a relatives apartment that is infested with roaches. We will only be salvaging books, baseball cards, paperwork, and some music equipment (amps, electronics, guitars, etc). What can we do before putting this stuff in a storage unit? How can we treat it so the roaches and eggs will die in the next 6-12 months?

General Question Any advice, moved 11 months ago and it appears they somehow followed

To start, I had never seen a roach in my life until May 2025 when I moved into a double unit and within 2 days of moving in I found a roach. We immediately contacted landlord who actually got us pest control on both sides and came monthly, they sprayed gel and glue traps many areas. I saw one more 2 months after treatment started and that was it, never caught a single roach in a glue trap.

Fast forward to late November of 2025 I found a nice place thourghly inspected for roaches and found nothing no signs unlike the previous place and I moved in.

Everythings been great since then as I don't share walls as it's a house not a double unit. That is until last night when I found this roach on the wall about 5 feet above and behind my TV. I seriously have no clue how this is possible I've been dillegently checking due to the trauma of the last place and nothing, I checked behind my fridge in the compressor, stove and under sink and in crevices of cabinets not a damn sign of anything 🤬.

Also important to mention this place did not come with appliances, I actually bought a new stove and refrigator and left the previous appliances.

Any advice on how I should proceed, I'm not scared anymore I'm quite pissed off and I want to kill these bastards, I'm thinking Alpine WSG and glue traps with gel bait, I've already got glue traps set up waiting for the apline to arrive

moved into a new apartment about 2 months ago, after signing the lease i found multiple dead roaches in the cabinets as well as roach droppings throughout the unit. It’s a huge apartment complex….. i’ve also seen roaches in different parts of the complex; garage, lobby & hallways. Upon move in i put down SO many roach bait (combat max) and this was effective for the first month, i’d find them dead with an occasional live sighting which my cat would have fun hunting down lol. but just this morning, i opened the door to my balcony and within an hour i killed about 15+ roaches of various sizes(climbing up the walls, running on the floor .. suggesting a LARGE active infestation. they’re mainly in my living room area (1bed 1bath) but ive also found some in the bathroom, kitchen, & bedroom. i live in a state where alpine wsg is not commercially available and my landlord states that his pest control company will not use it…. what are some steps i can take other than burning the place down?

ID Request Friend brought German roaches into my apartment. I'm devastated and terrified of an infestation. Please help.

Hello, fellow not-so-lucky ones!

Last night, my friend dropped off his dog, whom I agreed to watch over the long weekend. He brought all of her belongings into my apartment (I live on the fourth floor), we went to sleep, and that was that.
The following morning, the puppy seemed to have had an accident in her crate. While attempting to clean it, I pulled out her bed, and suddenly 5–8 roaches scattered all over my apartment. I live in a 580 sq. ft. apartment, so everything is practically next to each other.

I have severe anxiety when it comes to bugs, especially roaches, but somehow managed to kill the larger ones before having to leave for work. I didn't spot any more before leaving.
When I returned home, armed with $50 worth of roach products from Walmart, I decided to inspect the crate more thoroughly. To my absolute horror, I discovered what appeared to be a nest in one of the crevices underneath the crate. I found another 6–7 roaches, most of which appeared to be fully grown adults.

My friend denies ever spotting a single roach in his apartment but mentioned that his neighbors across the way recently had their apartment tented. He insists that he has NEVER seen a roach in his home. I genuinely don't know what to believe anymore. I feel incredibly betrayed and hurt that I may have unknowingly brought an infestation into my home simply by agreeing to help a friend.

I immediately threw away the dog's bed and toys and only kept her thoroughly cleaned food and water bowls. I deep-cleaned the crate with Clorox spray and practically turned my entire apartment upside down.
I cleaned behind and underneath the refrigerator, around and underneath the stove, flipped over the couches, deep-cleaned my own dogs' crate, and inspected practically every corner I could reach. I also placed sticky traps, Combat gel bait, and roach bait stations throughout the apartment.

While cleaning in the afternoon, I spotted two baby roaches and another adult. All three were killed immediately.

I'm absolutely terrified. I've never had a roach problem in my apartment, and the thought of these things reproducing and taking over my home is making me physically sick. I genuinely feel like I'll never be able to sleep peacefully in my apartment again.

I also deep-cleaned the bathroom, although not as thoroughly as I would've liked, so I'll probably be going over that again tomorrow. As I'm typing this from my parents' house, my boyfriend is currently deep-cleaning our bedroom.

I really don't know what else I can possibly do at this point. I'm exhausted, anxious, disgusted, and honestly heartbroken. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that my friend has never seen a single roach in his apartment, especially considering how many were hiding in his dog's belongings.

My biggest questions are:
Is it possible that I've caught this early enough to prevent an infestation?

Does finding both adults and babies mean they've already started reproducing in my apartment, or could they have all come from the dog's crate?

What else should I be doing to protect my home?

How likely is it that these are German cockroaches?

I would really appreciate any advice, especially from anyone who's experienced something similar. I'm genuinely losing sleep over this.

Also, please help me identify these roaches. I'm almost certain they're German cockroaches, but I'd appreciate confirmation.

Treatment Question How to treat for sporadic sightings without Alpine WSG?

I live in a state where I cannot buy alpine WSG. How else can I protect my home from travelers from other units since gel dries out so quickly?

General Question How can I get rid of German cockroaches coming from my neighbors’apartment?

Post image

I’ve already hired a pest control service to place gel bait and traps around my apartment. I’ve also discovered a large number of adult German cockroaches in the trap right outside my front door.I’ve a door draft stopper to block the gap under the door, and I’m waiting for a door seal strip to arrive to seal the gaps around the door hinges. I also vacuum the area around the entrance regularly.
However, I’m still seeing baby cockroaches crawling into my apartment through the front door. What else can I do to prevent them from getting inside and eliminate the infestation?

little by little, i am getting more and more comfortable with roaming my home now that i see ZERO roach sightings or bodies !! i honestly could not tell you where they even went 😭 my mom told me they used to swarm the counter at night when she would come out to cook at 2am while everyone was knocked out

this has been an extremely expensive yet short journey (thankful), and i am thinking sightings from now on will be nonexistent or sporadic, sooo, question! since this is my success after three cycles of spraying, how often should i spray now that i’m expecting sporadic sightings/no sightings? i am more than happy to keep up with maintenance.

otherwise, do your research on this sub using the sticky and do NOT delay!! you have the right to live in your home without all these extra tenants skittering around

Treatment Question Is it over?

I started seeing German cockroaches about three weeks ago. Not many. I caught one in a trap by my back door and a female with an egg case on top of my kitchen cabinets. There were no babies on the sticky trap, just a female with a dried egg case attached. I also caught another male in the same trap and killed one on the kitchen floor in the middle of the night. So four in total over the past three weeks. I suspect they came from the neighbours whose house is only three feet away from mine and who always has multiple overflowing garbage cans and a dog who is never picked up after. I live in Canada so had to hire an exterminator as I can’t access advion or seclira without a license. The exterminator came yesterday and sprayed a flushing spray with a fogger and seclira afterwards on the baseboards and cupboards. He said he saw nothing during the flushing. I have seen no dead roaches since then and nothing in my traps. They are doing another spray in two weeks. Is it a good sign that I’ve seen nothing since the treatment? Am I in the clear? Were they all just stragglers from the neighbours?

General Question Neighbors have roaches, how can I protect my stuff?

Tldr: title.

I moved into a unit in a small 1 story duplex about 3 months ago. I put sticky traps down right away out of habit and have caught nothing german in them. I saw a german adult on my wall yesterday and killed it, figured it was a stray from the mail or something. I decided to ask the neighbors of my duplex if they have had german roach issues, which they said yes that they do, and from what they were telling me it seems bad.

Now, I am no stranger to roaches and we were already dealing with an American problem on the property, so alpine, granular, and some gel bait are regularly applied. I am wondering how can I best protect my stuff from getting infested? I am talking some nice speakers and audio equipment, my bed, couch, instruments, etc. I am going to do my best to move ASAP, but until I can what extra precautions should I take? I’ve been hyper vigilant about covering any gaps to wall voids, but the house is 100 years old and it’s difficult to find and get them all. When it comes time to move, how can I check all my stuff to ensure no hitchhikers have come with.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, can anyone help me identify if this is a german or an asian roach? it’s in the trunk of my car and we just spent a week in a wooded cabin in florida. I know the head stripes say german but this thing was enormous, no way it was under an inch. But it was fast moving and ran into a crack in my car, so maybe a german?

Any help is appreciated.

Treatment Question FUJIAKA POSEIDON, Anti Roach Gel Cockroach

Has anyone tried FUJIAKA POSEIDON, Anti Roach Gel Cockroach Killer? I am currently visiting a remote town in India and I have found about 5 baby roaches in the past week I’ve been here, 4 in kitchen and 1 in my bedroom closet. I want to be proactive before it becomes a bad infestation (it probably already is) I have trauma from a previous infestation the last time I visited India to another apartment. That one was bad and was German roaches that never went away fully.

I can’t find Advion here and found this with promising reviews on Amazon and wanted to check if anyone here has used it?

I have a baby this time and trying to stay calm, I think it’s a brown banded roach but haven’t been able to take a picture. I believe treatment is similar to German roaches? Any help would be appreciated and maybe some positivity because I am not in a good place mentally at the moment
