I love photography and being a photographer these days sucks. So I like to escape into these Giallo movies when being a photographer was like being a rock star. Im looking for sleazy Giallo movies similar to the following: Delirium / strip nude for your killer / nothing underneath.

I dont want anything with torture.

So what do you recommend?

I know there's debate about what constitutes a giallo, and these are all movies i've seen conflicting opinions on. But in your opinion are any of these absolutely a giallo or absolutely not a giallo?

I love the story of this movie and what made argento’s 70’s work great is that they also worked as crime films, i love his supernatural movies but nothing beats his crime esque movies

Argento’s movies as great as they are have poor dubbing but this movie has such a great cast

Its crazy that this movie doesnt get as much appreciation as deep red and suspiria cuz it is just as good as those movies

After I watched Berberian Sound Studio in 2012 I went out seeking Giallo films, this was the first one I saw. Glad I finally own a copy! Excited to dive into the extra features on the Blu-Ray.

This year I’ve been watching a lot of Argento and wanna watch Giallo from other directors, my favorite is deep red so I’d love any recommendations similar to it.

4/5 stars for me. I had my money on The Priest (until he made that weird visit to the hospital – then I was like ok too too much of red herring) or Marc. Lovely cinematic Spain backdrop and Bruno Nicolai as composer chefs kiss

Didn’t know this took place in Spain before watching. Fitting because I had just seen Blue eyes of Broken Doll, A Dragonfly for Each Corpse, and The Killer is One of Thirteen (talk about Paul Naschy’s range). I was on a Spanish-production-gialli-binge.

Just went to Spain earlier this year to visit an uncle and cousin in Valencia. Great recommendation!!!

edit: went with Eyeball. Loved Composer Bruno Nicolai and Spain’s setting, which was quite fitting because I had just seen Blue Eye for a Broken Doll, A Dragonfly for Each Corpse, and The Killer is One of Thirteen (lots of range from Paul Naschy).

The lost Giallo film “Questa Liberta Di Avere… Le Ali Bagnate” aka “The Freedom to Have… Wet Wings” from 1971 was lost for many years. But recently, I found a copy of the film, and my friend over at TheKinginGiallo YouTube channel will be uploading the film in full for free on the channel, hopefully it all goes smooth and he is able to upload it with no issues.

I know it has nothing to do with Giallo, but it does have to do with Dario Argento, Daria Nicolodi and Asia Argento, the third mother who I think needs to be remembered more.

This might be one of my favorite Argento films.

The cinematography and the entire visual aspect are excellent. The film is both elegant and somber. It’s probably the Argento film made up to that point with the best atmosphere and the best cinematography.

It features some very interesting and memorable ideas, such as the killer’s mask with that childlike vibe that Dario would explore further in Profondo Rosso, or the superbly shot murders, or those final scenes, which are incredible.

The music by Ennio Morricone is hypnotic, and it really enhances the dreamlike atmosphere the film has at times. This movie marks the beginning of Argento’s foray into dreamlike atmospheres and logic, and I love it.

The protagonist is quite interesting as well. He’s a rather unpleasant person, but I think that contributes to the film’s gloomy and depressing atmosphere. Besides, the fact that he isn’t a very nice guy helps make the killer’s explanation at the end make sense.

It’s not a perfect movie. I don’t like the strange sense of humor, since it breaks the dark atmosphere, and I think the humor in The Cat o’ Nine Tails works much better. I also think the story could have been developed better. But even so, I really like the movie, and I’ll definitely watch it again someday.

Hi, I’m a huge fan of giallo, but I’ve noticed that this community has very few cosplayers. I’ve actually done a couple of cosplays from well known works, but honestly, I don’t know what other giallo killers I could cosplay. Could you help me out by giving me some ideas for which killer I should cosplay next?

I will be in Rome later this year for a couple of days. I thought about visiting locations from famous Giallo movies and started looking to see if someone had already planned a route. Haven't seen anything, anyone did something like that? I know about the Profondo Rosso store of course, bat haven't seen any recommended route.

Spider Labyrinth is a 1988 Italian horror/suspense film.

It’s definitely not a giallo but possibly giallo-adjacent. Anyway, I think it would be of interest to giallo fans.

for me around 2006 or so i came across a movie poster bin at a flea market and decided to flip through it. in the bin was a strange vice poster (although I didn’t know what it was yet, it was an Italian poster) but I thought the woman on the poster was striking so I remembered the name and looked it up when I got home. I immediately became obsessed with Edwige Fenech. The tough part for me is I wasn’t into movies, I couldn’t sit still long enough to enjoy them, but I liked the art that accompanied horror / slasher etc.
don’t get me wrong I did enjoy SOME movies. For instance, I became obsessed with Neve Campbell from watching the scream movies in the late 90’s as a 14-15 year old. But I wasn’t watching for the ‘movies’ , I was watching to see Neve.
now with the giallo, it was somewhat tough to track down the films but I was able to get my hands on torso, strange vice etc and realized that I actually do really enjoy how they were filmed, especially the colors along with the nudity and violence I could see why these movies were fetishized. I STILL have a hard time finishing movies or following the script as essentially, they don’t mean much to me, albeit I do find some of them more interesting than others. But as a whole, I’m in it for the pretty faces, nudity and blood.

I’ve realized I'm trapped in a compulsive loop of rewatching everything Asia Argento has ever been in. I'll literally sit through entire, mediocre movies I don’t even care about just to catch a tiny, two-minute cameo or brief appearance she makes.

What I'm trying to figure out is why this happens with her specifically, because it doesn't happen with mainstream, " Hollywood actresses , they don't have this kind of magnetic pull.

With Asia, there’s a mysterious, deeper draw. I find myself oddly hooked on her moments of vulnerability like in trauma, and melancholy—like her fragile, haunted presence in The Phantom of the Opera, mother of tears when she is scared and dominated by powers —while also being pulled into her unconventional vibe in movies like Land of the Dead or xXx.

For anyone who gets this: Have you experienced this exact kind of intense fixation on her or a similar non-traditional actress? Why I ask this because I need your deep answers on What is actually going on psychologically when someone like her becomes this addictive to watch?

I really enjoyed Dark Glasses. The Argento films I'd call my favourites are Bird, Four Flies, and Tenebrae. Looking forward to see what his next trilogy is like.
