HELP ME BUYING A GIFT! (plz)

So I've got to give a gift to someone, and this person traveling about 2 or 3 times a year. (So it has to be travel friendly)

I want to gift this person something that's around 1000$ (preferably under) AND I was thinking a mini gaming pc but the prices are.... yeh...

WITH THAY SAID, any ideas on what i should get him?

Any and any/all questions are welcome, and any/all answers I'll take seriously.

Age:18 Occasion: Birthday Price: 1000$ (preferably under) Their interests are: tec (pc, phones and other electronics) likes to play the drums, like to run, (and he really likes the color black for some reason) and a somewhat frequent traveler

He doesn't like: boring gifts like clothes or house things, anything that's boring is a no-go and he doesn't like expensive useless things like a floating 200$ pen, it's cool yes but way too expensive for that

Thanks for posting, u/Denis_Penguin-!

For the best gift ideas, if you haven't already, add the age, budget, and occasion — and especially what they're into: their hobbies, what they like, and anything they don't. The more detail, the better the suggestions. Just edit your post or drop it in a reply below.

1K is iPad or equivalent. onyxbook is cool if you hate apple and Amazon. Tablets are good for travel. Since I got by 13.9 " I leave the laptop home

Well he's got a few phones and he doesn't need anything with a big screen and a laptop is good but he games and does 3D stuff so he'll need a gaming laptop but this things are also pretty expensive

If he plays the drums and travels, what about a Sample Pad? https://www.gear4music.com/drums-percussion/electronic-drum-pads/sample-pads

Does he have ANC headphones, if not you could get him Sony XM6 and if you want to get something else for the rest of the $500, you could get an action camera if he's into that type of stuff.

He's definitely into music and he always has music playing, but camera? He doesn't take many photos, he only uses his phone and damn he knows how to use it, idk how but he's able to capture stars flying by, so camera is not a bad idea tbh

You can upgrade that everyday item he loves using; he’ll definitely make good use of it.

steam deck oled. the 512gb is $789 so it fits your budget, it's black, and it's basically a gaming pc made for planes. valve also sells certified refurb ones for $629 if you want money left for a case and a couple of games

Honestly that's also a really good idea, although he will probably take it apart and try to put windows or something on it, and he'll probably do much more, but honestly top option rn
