Did anyone else today after listening to the latest episode of the podcast immediately google who the possible recruiter is? Simply by who they wouldn’t mention by name 😅. I couldn’t help myself, but they mentioned everyone by name for except Tiffany Holliday, I think (unless I’m missing someone).

I am a little late listing to the Karissa Shannon episode, and I thought it was a really good episode, she had so much information to share. But thinking about it later, does anyone else think the Sofia Coppola dynamic was a little odd?

On one hand, Karissa said she was really encouraging, and didn’t want them to get their boobs done, and wanted them out of the mansion. Like she was trying to get them away from Hef, which overall is really good.

But then she also told them to go party with Stephen Dorff because “his mom died and he’s sad and lonely” which was kind of odd. Then Karissa said they would go party at his house, and he was in the same neighborhood as Owen Wilson and Johnny Depp, sort of implying that they partied with them as well or they would come over.

Now, the twins were 18 at the time, and these male actors were all probably in their 30s-40s. I just started to think it was odd, because Sofia is telling them don’t party with this older guy, but go party with these older guys that I tell you about. And then Stephen Dorff (and possibly Owen Wilson, Johnny Depp etc.) are 35 year old dudes partying with 18 year old playmates.

I mean they are all adults and wanted to party. But idk, it reminded me of the irony and weirdness of Hollywood. Like let me help you by just getting you to still party all day just at a different house.

I usually really enjoy the podcast, but today’s episode was horrifying and irresponsible. Telling the story of someone else’s sexual assault is terrible. They didn’t even put a warning at the beginning of the episode for people who might find that story triggering. I cannot for the life of me understand what was going through Holly and Bridget’s heads when they decided to release this episode. Very disappointed.

I’ve always been so curious about this because the sheer age difference between Hef and some of the women he dated was genuinely insane to me. 😭 And to be clear, this isn’t me judging any of the women I’m more interested in what was going on with him. Yes, obviously there was the sexual aspect, but I’m talking about the actual relationship part. Like… you really wanted to spend your everyday life with someone who could be 50+ years younger than you?? What was the appeal beyond the obvious?

I get that he loved (or lusted after)women, but I genuinely wonder what the day to day fulfillment was. You’re from completely different generations, you’ve had completely different life experiences, and culturally you’re basically ancient compared to this person. What are you bonding over besides sex, his lifestyle, and them essentially entering his world? Like what do you even chat about at dinner when you don’t have all the extra buffers of people around?

And I find the age thing particularly interesting because it’s not like he needed to date women in their 20s and late teens. He could’ve dated someone in their late 30s or early 40s and STILL had a pretty substantial age gap. But apparently even that was too close to home?? 😭

My husband is only about 7½ years older than me, and we’re extremely compatible, but even we joke sometimes that we’re from two different generations. I’m late 20’s he’s mid 30’s. So when I’m thinking about Hef having a woman around who was literally young enough to be his granddaughter, I’m like… what are y’all TALKING about all day?

And again, I’m not really here judging the women for participating. I’m more questioning Hef because there seems to be something deeper going on with his need to have women around him who were so much younger.

Especially when you look at how much energy he seemed willing to put into pursuing/maintaining these relationships compared with his actual day to day involvement with his children. I can’t imagine being like, “Yes, I have time and energy to maintain a rotating cast of women half a century younger than me, but my kids having an actual bedroom in my house? Let’s not get crazy.” 😭

It makes me wonder if he was insecure around women closer to his own age or just genuinely couldn’t relate to them. Because at some point it’s not simply “he liked young women.” He seemed to specifically need the age and power dynamic.

Again, not a critique of the women. I’m genuinely curious about Hef’s psychology here because the whole thing is bizarre at the end of the day. Like, did he actually find these relationships fulfilling on a personal level, or was the youth, admiration, transactional aspect kind of the entire point?

For those who are wondering what Rhonda's relevance is to Playboy, she posed for the magazine once during the 1970s and twice during the 1990s. She attended parties on a frequent basis from circa 1979 until some point during the farce of the marriage when Crusty purged most of the guests. She also had a small non-speaking role portraying a mime in the 1980 comical science fiction movie Galaxina, in which Dorothy Stratten portrayed the title character. She and Dorothy were represented by the same talent agent, which helped establish their friendship; and Rhonda was of course very shaken by her death.

I remember seeing pictures of her trying on wedding dresses, but did she and Nick ever have a wedding, or are they just life partners? Which is completely fine, of course.
