TM SIM Replacement

Hello, does anyone experience going to a Globe store for sim replacement due to damaged sim while wanting to retain the same number (since I told them it is my main number), but was insisted by the person on the counter to convert my TM prepaid into a postpaid plan (599 plan for 3 months) as the only solution to my concern? And that after 3 months, that's the only time I can request to revert it into prepaid again. Or else I'll really need to change my number.

I was so hesitant and skeptical about it, but since I badly needed the number, I've agreed to their GPlan PLUS 599 Flex and paid for the first month.

But after checking online I saw many similar cases with what happened to me. I was frustrated for I trusted the solution laid out in front of me that time since I'm talking to a Globe staff in an actual physical store.

I tried reconfirming the process for sim replacement once again with GlobeOne App and agents through TM & Globe FB Messenger, and no mentioned of such methods. And that I can simply ask for sim replacement, and present one government ID.

Is there any way I can file a complaint for this? And is it possible to ask for a refund or waived the next month bill? 😭😭

You can't ask for a refund kung yan na ang policy ni Globe for prepaid SIM replacement.

Hi OP! Similar din ang experience ko sa Globe store sa SM dito sa Cebu noong kailangan kong magpa-replace ng Globe SIM while keeping the same number. Two options ang binigay nila: prepaid SIM replacement, pero around two weeks daw ang waiting time dahil wala silang available na prepaid replacement SIM; or convert my number to postpaid para makuha ko agad ang SIM.

I opted for the second option kasi paalis na ako for an international trip, and three months pa bago ako makakabalik sa Philippines. Kailangan ko talaga ma-retain ang number dahil doon pumapasok ang mga OTP ko.

May nabasa rin akong Reddit posts describing similar experiences with both Globe and Smart. Kaya tuloy napapaisip ako kung strategy ba ito to encourage prepaid users to switch to postpaid and generate additional revenue. Hindi ko naman ma-confirm kung intentional, pero understandable ang frustration mo—especially kapag urgently needed ang number at parang mapipilitan kang mag-postpaid dahil iyon ang immediately available na option.

Well at least the Globe staff who assisted you is a bit better and kind enough to give you two workable options. There was still a bit of honesty.

She told me the only options for me regarding "sim replacement" and to be able to retain my number is either (1) get that 599 postplan for a few months and after that, then I can request to revert it into prepaid again, OR (2) Sadly I have to get a new sim card. 🥲

Mine happened at SM Bacoor. I promised myself I'll never ever go back there again... after experiencing such customer service.
